Which Bible do I have

Which Bible do I have?

“The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth,

Purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD,

thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.” Ps 12:6-7

"Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my WORDS shall not pass away."

Matthew 24:35

" for thou hast magnified thy WORD above all thy name." Psalms 138:2

"For ever, O LORD, thy WORD is settled in heaven." Psalms 119:89

A…THE FINAL AUTHORITY

← In this life we must have a final authority, a spiritual plumbline, a compass, a level...something to keep us from straying off course. The army uses a compass, the air force use radar, & carpenter uses a plumb line.

← We are born with a God-shaped hole in our soul & we end up spending our lives trying to fill it with everything from money to relationships. What are you using to keep your life on course?

← Is your spiritual plumbline a preacher or pope? Is it human reasoning? How about human experience? (charasmatics latch on to Human experience) Is it the church (mormans & jehovah witnesses)?

1...God has given us His very own words to use as our spiritual plumb line.

¤ We will be judged by God’s words—john 12:47-48

¤ We must have God’s word if we are to be judged by it!

2...We have no original manuscripts.

¤ We must have the truth or we’re lost! We need the preserved word of

( Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them for ever.” Ps 12:6-7

( Matthew 24:35, Deuteronomy 4:2, Jeremiah 36:28, Daniel 12:4,9, John 14:26, & Revelation 22:18-19

3...God tells us in Psalm 12:7 that His words would be available to us today.

¤ God promised us a copy of His pure words, preserved forever, to use as our plumb line.

¤ We know God’s words are originally inspired.—2 timothy 3:16, literally “God-breathed”

¤ God’s word has existed from eternity & to everlasting

¤ The same God that inspired His words has also preserved His words.

( John 10:35 “ The scripture cannot be broken.”

( Matt 24:35 “ Heaven & earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.”

( Matt 4:4 “ It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone,

but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.”

¤ If we are to live by every word than God must preserve every word!!!

4...Jesus did not have original manuscripts but what he did have He called scripture.

¤ No one in Jesus’ time spoke Hebrew except priests & scribes.

¤ Jesus was a carpenter for 30 years, the common people spoke only Aramaic.

¤ Jesus picked up an Aramaic translation of the bible & called it scripture.

( And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Isaiah. When he had opened the book, (& He preached) & he said unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.” Luke 4:17-21

( “Search the scriptures; for in them ye have eternal life. “ John 5:39

¤ If God could get his word from Hebrew to Aramaic, couldn’t He get it from Aramaic to English?

¤ Today, in English we have a perfect, infallible, inspired word of God!

← “Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.” Ps 12:7

» Who does the preserving?

» What is God going to preserve?

» How long is He going to preserve them?

B…WHERE DID WE GET OUR ENGLISH BIBLE?

1... I want you to know the truth & decide for yourselves the truth, therefore we must touch on some history. I promise to be as brief as possible so bare with me. You will become much richer for knowing this. Promise.

2... God preserved copies of His words down through time, using four main languages He chose for that purpose. All through history, God made several choices as to the languages in which He would communicate His message.

Choice 1: Hebrew

From at least as far back as Abraham (around 2000 BC) to the destruction of the second Temple in Jerusalem in 70 AD, God chose the Semitic languages, especially Hebrew, to communicate to His chosen people. God gave his law in Hebrew to teach men that they were sinners, and in need of a Saviour.

Choice 2: Greek

But in the first century AD, God made a second choice. The main language of the world for three centuries had been Greek. God used that language to give the New Testament for the world to read. And it spread like wildfire.

The devil recognized the huge potential of God's Word in a "world" language, so he moved quickly to counter it. He prepared a fake "Bible" in Alexandria, Egypt. The Old Testament portion is called the Septuagint and the New Testament portion is called the "Alexandrian text." This corruption was a "Greek" Bible, but with the poison of the Apocrypha mixed in, made to look like real scripture. The Alexandrian "Bible is a perverted new testament, taking out many of God's words and substituting man's ideas. This laid the groundwork for the Satan's plan to spread religious lies, and subvert the true faith.

Choice 3: Old Latin

From about 120 AD until the 1500s, God used a third language to communicate His truths, in addition to Hebrew and Greek. While the first copies of the New Testament in Greek were being made and passed around, God directed other Christians to translate His preserved words into Old Latin. This language was being spoken more and more in Europe, and became an "international" language as Greek had been. The Old Latin Version was used by the Christians in the churches of the Waldenses, Gauls, Celts, Albigenses, and other fundamental groups throughout Europe. This Latin version became so used and beloved by orthodox Christians and was in such common use by the common people that it assumed the term "Vulgate" as a name. Vulgate comes from "vulgar" which is the Latin word for "common." By the 300s, the Roman religion claimed to be true Christianity, so Jerome made a new “Bible” from the perverted Alexandrian writings. It included the Apocryphal books that the early church had rejected. But to make it convincing, they also put in some scriptures that were like the preserved Old Latin Bible as well. There were now two Latin "Vulgates," dramatically different from one another. The true Christians knew the difference between the true and the false "Vulgates." This first Latin Bible was so esteemed for its faithfulness to the deity of Christ and its accurate reproductions of the originals, that these early Christians let Jerome's Roman Catholic translation "sit on the shelf." The true Biblical Christians did not use Jerome’s translation for almost a millenium after it was translated from corrupted manuscripts by Jerome in 380 A.D. Even then it only came into usage due to the death of Latin as a common language, and the violent, wicked persecutions waged against true believers by Pope Gregory IX during his reign from 1227 to 1242 A.D. The Roman Catholic armies hunted down and martyred those who were caught possessing the true Latin Vulgate. But they were never able to completely replace the true Latin Vulgate with the corrupted Roman Catholic Latin Vulgate. God was preserving His words.

Choice 4: English

Around 700-800 AD English, a new "world" language began to develop. God began laying the groundwork to use this language to trigger a massive missionary movement. In the 1500s William Tyndale worked to translate the Bible from the accurate Greek and Hebrew manuscripts that God had so carefully preserved. English-speaking people after him continued the effort to translate and perfect a Bible that matched the ancient scriptures. One of the best of these is the Geneva Bible. English was a language in the midst of change. But by 1604 God used King James I of England to commission a group of learned men to accumulate scriptures in Hebrew, Greek, Latin and English as well as other languages. Their assignment was to translate God's words into the most accurate English possible. 54 scholars were appointed in 1604, and a few overseers were also present, who went from group to group. Each translator made his own translation of the book, which was reviewed by each other member of the group. Then the whole group reviewed the book. When they all agreed on the translation, they sent it to the other five groups for evaluation. Those groups then returned it to the original committee, marking anything they disagreed with. The original group would then go over the book again. When all six committees finished with the book, it was sent, with any differences that were left, to a special committee made up of one leader from each of the six groups. They solved any remaining problems, and the book was sent to the printers. But they did not work in secret, as did the "Revisers" in 1871 - 1881. At any time, the translators could ask an outside scholar for his understanding, and anyone could find out about the progress. The churches were kept informed at all times. In all, every single verse of the Bible was carefully examined and decided upon a total of fourteen times, by as many as 50 or more people! This made it impossible for any one translator to impose his personal viewpoint on a passage. He had to have logical reasons for a translation that were good enough to persuade every other scholar before it could be written into the text. There was no "private interpretation" here!

(2 Peter 1:20-21). In early 1611 they published the Authorized Version, also known as the King James Bible. From the day it was published, the King James Bible circulated around the world, and missionaries translated Bibles from this precious book.

3...Our Modern Bibles

← On Feb. 10, 1870, the Anglican Church convened to do a revision of the Authorized 1611A.D. King James Bible, only "plain & clear errors" in language were to be removed with as few changes as possible. The church had a choice of two ancient translations to use as a basis of these revisions. The Upper House of the Convocation of the Province of Canterbury of the Church of England appointed the Revision Committee to make the first genuine revision of the Authorized Version

← The revision committee was led by Bishop Charles Ellicott, an unsaved liberal. Two other unsaved liberals were appointed named Brooke F. Wescott & John A. Hort. (remember these two!) Although Bishop Ellicott was chairman, he was no match for Hort in Textual Criticism & Hort gradually displaced the other committee members in prominence, to become the main voice of the Revisionists.

← John Hort was skilled in the Greek & Westcott in the Hebrew languages, yet both despised the Greek Textus Receptus (From which the King James translators translated the KJV). The two of them worked together 1853-1871 to produce a Greek NT based on Vaticanus Textus (which,as the name implies is a Catholic translation) Together Westcott & Hort talked the committee into using the Vaticanus as the only text they would use in revising the KJV. The committee was composed of 99 members - 49 from Anglican church, 1 from Unitarian church, others from various religions, including Catholicism. Two thirds of the translators were not fluent in Greek or Hebrew or familiar with the idiomatic structure of the English language.

( What actually transpired was totally unexpected & far beyond the original commission, for Westcott & Hort used the committee to produce an entirely “new” translation (1881, New Testament ~ 1884, Old Testament) based on their own recently compiled Greek Text from the Alexandrian text-type used by the Roman Catholic Church. It was not a revision but a creation. In fact, Hort was unabashedly enamored with the Vatican's own manuscript - Vaticanus B. According to notes of the proceedings, he would summarily dismiss most readings that did not match this text or it's near relative Sinaiticus. Dr. Hort called the Byzantine text useless for revision because it's only manuscripts dated from later centuries.

( The Revised Version (R.V.) was passionately literal, interpretatively rigid, hopelessly preferential, & just plain hard to read, which explains why it's verses are rarely, if ever, quoted in any literary work. It was the first major English translation to break with the Textus Receptus following the massive influx of Byzantine manuscripts from the East. The Textus Receptus was changed 5,337 times by this committee. But just how did these two men convince a whole committee of “Christians” to completely change the Word of God?

A. It was the genius of Fenton John Anthony Hort that rode to the rescue of the forlorn Roman Catholic text. This man used the same method to overthrow the authority of the Universal Text that Charles Darwin used to overthrow the fact of creation. He used a THEORY!

B. His theory was that the "originals" agreed with the Local Text, and that this Local Text was "edited" by the Syrian church at Antioch in the Fourth Century to become what we know as the Universal Text, and then forced upon the people by the church council.

C. Since the Committee had been instructed not to deal with matters of the Greek text, and the Westcott and Hort text had not been published, it was necessary for the two Cambridge professors to submit it little by little to the Committee. Even this was done in secret. In order to establish their own Greek text as authoritative, they first planned the strategy prior to the first meeting of the Committee. Their old friend Bishop Lightfoot was even there to help as Westcott notes in a letter to Hort dated May 1870, "Your note came with one from Ellicott this morning ... Though I think the Convocation is not competent to initiate such a measure, yet I feel that as 'we three' are together it would be wrong not to 'make the best of it' as Lightfoot says ... There is some hope that alternative readings might find a place in the margin." They then secretly submitted their text to the Committee members, and stayed close by their sides to see to it that their scheme was carried out. Although Westcott and Hort were men of scholarship, they were not men of integrity.

D. Just as was true for Darwin, common sense, all available facts, and the nature of God testified against his theory. Just as Darwin did, he collected minute scraps of evidence, then twisted and magnified his evidence, and theorized that he was right. Just as Darwin did, his theory was manufactured in his head, and INDEPENDENT of historical facts and evidence. Just as Darwin, his theory was overwhelmingly accepted by the overeducated men of his day. The theory of evolution was music to the ears of scientists, biologists, and college professors who resented the thought of creation.

E. The same thing was true of Christian scholarship. They had long resented the thought that God could or would preserve His Word without their help. Like the lost scientists, they begrudgingly had to acknowledge that the evidence and facts of history were in favor of the Authorized Version. The issuing of Hort's theory, with the backing of Dr. Westcott, was heralded as the "liberation" of textual criticism…And they all agreed a new Bible was in order!

4...The Byzantine Text vs. The Vaticanus Text

( First, please remember the simple fact that there are two streams of Bible history.

A. The first is the line that comes straight from the Apostles and people of Antioch. From Antioch, the "gateway to Europe," it spread through Syria and Europe through its translation into the Syrian Peshitto version and the Old Latin Vulgate. There are still 350 copies of the Peshitto in existence today as a testimony to this widespread usage in the years since 150 A.D. From there it headed for England. Upon arrival in England it would be ready for translation into the language through which God has chosen to spread His Gospel - English.

B. That line has to date 5,321 manuscripts in support of it. It has the broad evidence of history in support of it. This evidence for this stream spans from some of our oldest manuscripts to some of the least ancient. These manuscripts are in agreement with those of the persecuted believers, such as the Vaudois in the French Alps. They received the Scriptures from apostolic groups from Antioch of Syria about AD 120 and finished their translation by AD 157, according to Calvin's successor, Theodore Beza. These manuscripts influenced one of the greatest events in Christian history: the Protestant Reformation.

C. The other stream comes from questionable sources. About the time of Christ, a Jewish man named Philo decided to blend pagan Greek philosophy with Judaism. The so-called "Christians" who came after him in Alexandria Egypt were not much better. Though they talked about "Jesus" and "Christianity," they did not believe that Jesus was God. They also did not believe that the Old Testament detailed literal events. It was a school in this pagan city that decided to write their own copies of the Bible. The problem is that they changed the Scriptures, while saying they were copying them. (They used the heretic Marcion's Lord's Prayer in Luke, for example.)

D. The noted Greek scholar, A.T. Roberson, states, "Constantine himself ordered fifty Greek Bibles from Eusebius, Bishop of Caesarea, for the Churches of Constantinople. The actual copying was probably done in Egypt or by Egyptian scribes." Unfortunately Eusebius turned to the education center in Egypt and got a "scholarly revision" instead of turning to Antioch for the pure text which was universally accepted by the true Christians. Why would Eusebius choose Alexandria over Antioch? Primarily because he was a great admirer of Origen, an Egyptian scholar. Origen, though once exalted by modern day Christianity as a trustworthy authority, has since been found to have been a heretic who interpreted the Bible in the light of Greek philosophy. Origen himself said, "The Scriptures are of little use to those who understand them as they are written." Which explains Bishop Marsh's statement, "Whenever therefore grammatical interpretation produced a sense which in Origen's opinion was irrational or impossible, in other words was irrational or impossible according to the philosophy which Origen had learned at Alexandria, he then departs from the literal." (Emphasis mine.) Dr. Adam Clarke claims also that Origen was the first person to teach purgatory.

E. So we see that once a pure copy of the Universal Text had been carried down into Egypt, it was recopied. During the process of this recopying, it was revised by men who did not revere it as truly the Word of God. This text was examined by the critical eye of Greek philosophy and Egyptian morals. These men saw nothing wrong with putting the Book in subjection to their opinion instead of their opinion being in subjection to the Book. This process produced a text that was local to the educational center of Alexandria, Egypt. This text went no farther than southern Italy where the Roman Church found its unstable character perfect for overthrowing the true Word of God which was being used universally by the true Christians.

F. God's attitude towards Egypt is not positive. We see Israel, the people of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, persecuted in Egypt, a type of the world. In Exodus 20:2, Egypt is called "the house of bondage." In Deuteronomy 4:20, God calls Egypt "the iron furnace." God forbids Israel to carry on commercial activities with Egypt in Deuteronomy 17:16. In Jeremiah 46:25 we find God promising punishment on Egypt. God commanded Israel not to be associated with Egypt's idolatry, Ezekiel 20:7. God will not do anything contrary to His nature. It would not be consistent with God's nature to use Alexandria, Egypt to preserve His Word when He paints such a dismal picture of it in Scripture. In fact, there is no record of any of the New Testament Christians ever visiting there.

G. Seriously threatened by the advance of the Ottoman Turks during the early 15th Century & the subsequent fall of their capital at Constantinople in 1453, scholars fled the eastern Byzantine Empire & brought along their biblical manuscripts; hence, it has been called the Byzantine text-type. Meanwhile, The Alexandrian manuscripts fell into disuse, and many were relegated to a desert trashcan. A number tried to make the expensive codices better by changing the words to be more like the other text, but they finally gave up. Those are the many correctors we see in the Sinaiticus and Vaticanus. But where do the Alexandrian manuscripts lead? Straight to the Roman Catholic institution. They were used by Constantine with the help of Eusebius. They became the basis of the Apocrypha and many incorrect readings in the Roman Catholic Bible. They were used to dominate and subject true believers under a false religion. This was the Bible of the persecutors. Ironically, those that take up the "new" versions, with their "better" Greek text, are voluntarily taking up the Bible which their early Christian brethren refused to use, a refusal that brought the Roman Catholic Church, the historic enemy of the Truth, crashing down on them. That same Roman Catholic Church is still active against the Truth today, only now many Christians are using her Bible.

H. A major blow to the authority of Rome came in 1517, when a young Catholic priest by the name of Martin Luther nailed his historic 95 theses on the church door in Wittenburg. The nail drove deep into the hearts of truly born-again Christians who had for centuries been laboring under the tyranny of the Roman Catholic Church. The people flocked to their new, brave leader. From this, Lutheranism was established, but even more important, the fires of the Reformation were kindled. The tide of the Reformation soon came sweeping across all of Europe until it washed the very shores of England. The already weakened authority of Rome was devastated by the onslaught of truth. Two-thirds of Europe was swallowed up in what can probably be referred to as the greatest spiritual awakening of all time. The Reformation was vital to the then future translation of the King James Bible. England, too, had been shackled to the hierarchy of Rome. It was the removal of these superstitious bonds that created the spirit in England of the supremacy of the Scripture which was prevalent at the time of the translation of the King James Bible. This would not have been the case had Luther not sparked the Reformation.

I. The most vital and immovable weapon in Luther's arsenal came in the form of his German translation of the New Testament of 1522. This put the pure words of the Universal Text back into the hands of "Bible-starved" Christians. The Reformation ran wild across the continent, fueled by this faithful translation. Rome at this point was totally helpless to stop it. The Papacy needed something with which to fight this dreaded scourge of truth. It turned in desperation to two different sources.

J. In 1545 the Roman Catholic Church formed the Council of Trent. The Council of Trent systematically denied the teachings of the Reformation. The Council decreed that "tradition" was of equal authority with the Bible. It decreed also that justification was not by faith alone in the shed blood of Jesus Christ. In fact, it stated that anyone believing in this vital Bible doctrine was cursed. The Council's exact words are: "If anyone saith that justifying faith is nothing else but confidence in the divine mercy which remits sins for Christ's sake or that this confidence alone is that whereby we are justified, let him be anathema." (Emphasis mine.) We now see that the Roman Catholic Church is guilty of officially cursing Jesus Christ! Would God use this church to preserve His Words?

← This Byzantine text was noticeably different from the Egyptian Alexandrian Text (Vaticanus) of the western Roman Catholic Church. The Byzantine Text has been known throughout history by several names. It has been known as the Imperial Text, the Traditional Text, and the Reformation Text, as well as the Majority Text. This text culminates in the Textus Receptus or "Received Text" (Literally “the text that you have is now received by all”) which is the basis for the King James Bible, which we know also as the Authorized Version. Most of the Reformers used this new text, especially Luther in his German translation & Tyndale in his English. It was fresh, exciting - not in the staid Latin of the period but in Greek - the very language of the Gospels. Other eastern literature gave new understating to the events of the past, because invading nomadic tribes destroyed most literature of the Western Roman Empire. In many instances, all that is known of certain particulars of ancient Rome is due solely to this eastern literature that traveled with escaping scholars & merchants.

← So widespread was the demand for all this new eastern literature, that the invention of the printing press by Johann Gutenberg became a necessity - not a novelty. This surge for learning was the very fuel of the Renaissance. The Byzantine Text became the text-type of English Bibles, including the King James Version of 1611. Several editions of this version have been issued (not revisions!) & our KJV is actually the 1769 edition, following King George's command for the translators to take the 1701 & the 1611 & make them one & the same.

← Recently many of these distinctly Byzantine readings have been clearly documented in papyrus fragments of the early 2nd & 3rd centuries by several different researchers. Harry Sturz has exhaustively listed distinctive Papyrus Byzantine readings that match exactly our Textus Receptus. Papyrus comparisons have urged at least a few textual scholars to remark that the wholesale disregard for all Byzantine readings is no longer wise.

← “Since all Byzantine readings were thought to be late simply because of their length, polish, & late paper but now that some have clearly been shown to be early, is it wise to continue assuming that length, textual polish, & paper automatically suggests lateness? Bruce Metzger.

← “This re-evaluation of the Byzantine text has forced many scholars to reject Westcott & Hort's major position.” Harry Sturz.

← "It is impossible to fit the papyri, from the time prior to the fourth century, into these two text-types [Alexandrian & Byzantine]...The increase of the documentary evidence & the entirely new areas of research which were opened to us on the discovery of the papyri, The age of Westcott-Hort & of Tischendorf is definitely over."---Kurt Aland, perhaps the most qualified manuscript expert.

← "...a number of Byzantine readings, most of them genuine, which previously were discarded as late, are anticipated in P46...we are now warned not to discard the Byzantine evidence en bloc...the extant Old Uncials & their allies cannot be relied upon to furnish us with a complete picture of the textual material which the fourth & fifth centuries inherited from earlier times...P46 has given us proof of that." The brilliant scholar Gunther Zuntz.

← Why then are modern translations still predominately using this Alexandrian text? “Distinctly Byzantine readings have been documented in the papyri, it is only here-&-there readings, not significant portions or whole manuscripts bearing unquestionable identity to the Byzantine text-type. For this reason alone, many scholars are hesitant to switch back to a text that does not precede the fourth century.” Philip Comfort.

← So which Bible is which?

? Why do the modern versions use the KJV to buttress the validation of their own translations? They refuse to fully explain the difference in underlying text-types. The reader is allowed to believe that the King James Version is only being updated, when in fact the new version is based on an entirely different family of manuscripts. Why is it necessary to even mention the KJV in a Preface or Introduction to the Reader? Go to the bookstore & see for yourself!

? In the 1850s, after the typographical corrections and spelling changes were completed in the King James, the American Bible Society wrote two reports on the present condition of the English Bible. In the second report was this statement:

"[The] English Bible as left by the translators has come down to us

unaltered in respect to its text."

This is a very important point —there was not a single textual change in the King James Bible. But the New King James (NJKV) is a different story. The NKJV is not a true King James Bible. The NKJV publishers used different manuscripts and introduced completely different meanings into their texts. They did not stay with the accurate, preserved meanings of Hebrew and Greek words you find in your King James Bible. They switched words to be what you find in a NIV, NAS or RSV. Just read the Song of Solomon in the NKJV to see they plagiarized it from the NIV word for word! I will say it again: the King James Bible has no textual changes in any edition, whatsoever. The simple fact is that the King James Bible you can purchase in almost any bookstore, allowing for changes in spelling (and two printing errors: 2 Chron. 33:14; Jeremiah 34:16), is the same Book of God's preserved words that was printed in 1611. We can thank God for that.

C…WESTCOTT & HORT

1...Since these two men basically translated all our modern versions of the bible (except the KJV) & their personal beliefs colored these translations, it is essential that we examine just what these so-called bible scholars really believed. All my references have come from the Encyclopedia Britannica so you can look it up for yourself & not have to trust my word. (I have recently come across very hard to obtain copies of The Life and Letters of Brooke Foss Westcott, by his son, Arthur, and The Life and Letters of Fenton John Anthony Hort, written by his son. They really shed no new light on what I already have written; on the contrary they verify all I have learned & more! When I feel the need to quote from these books I’ll precede it with *.)

2...Both men were born in England in the early 1800’s. Both were professors at Cambridge. They were self-claimed liberals, supporting communism & evolution. Both men hated capitalism & free enterprise. During their college years a major shift occurred in the academic schools of the day. The Bible was relegated to the library while a host of new scholars were brought forth.

3...Plato's writings were required reading. Charles Darwin & Thomas Huxley wrote several "science" & biology textbooks. As a result of this, geology, astronomy & biology took the evolutionary path, deceiving many, & leading many a young person astray. Modern "science" is based on the hell-spawned theory of evolution. In this way, teaching that men are mere animals have lead to the preponderance of "free sex", homosexuality & their ilk. They believed in Abolition of Marriage & Family (free sex & state raising the kids), Zero-sum Economics, Governmental control of everything. Where did they get such Ideas? From Karl Marx & Friedrich Engels. The professors of the day advocated a graduated income tax (sound familiar?), gun control, compulsory public education, classless society, and welfare state. They used news media & education to spread their ideas. Through their influence on politics, they began the idea of "big government" rule over the people. In fact, *Hort's hope, during the years of the American Civil War, was that the South would win. This desire was fostered by the hope that such a victory would destroy both countries to eliminate America's threat to England's domination of the world

J.A. HORT

*Hort denies the reality of Eden. Hort denies the authority of the Bible. Hort did not believe in a personal devil. He also did not believe in a literal eternal hell. What did he believe in? Well, he was a very real believer in the fictitious Roman Catholic doctrine of "purgatory." He & Westcott both taught their students at Cambridge about their belief in purgatory. There was also Hort’s rejection of Christ's atoning death for the sins of all mankind. In fact, Hort considered the teachings of Christ's atonement as heresy!

* "Certainly nothing can be more unscriptural than the modern limiting of Christ's bearing our sins and sufferings to His death; but indeed that is only one aspect of an almost universal heresy."*

Dr. Hort was a truly great Greek scholar, yet a great intellect does not make one an authority over the Bible especially when they themselves do not even claim to believe it! Hort was also an adherent to the teaching of Samuel Taylor Coleridge. Coleridge was the college dropout whose drug addiction is an historical fact. *"The opium habit, begun earlier to deaden the pain of rheumatism, grew stronger. After vainly trying in Malta and Italy to break away from opium, Coleridge came back to England in 1806." One of Coleridge's famous works is Aids to Reflection. *"Its chief aim is to harmonize formal Christianity with Coleridge's variety of transcendental (i.e.occult) philosophy. Coleridge, had a great influence on the two scholars from Cambridge. *Dr. Hort also believed that the Roman Catholic teaching of "baptismal regeneration" was more correct than the "evangelical" teaching:

"...at the same time in language stating that we maintain 'Baptismal Regeneration' as the most important of doctrines ... the pure 'Romish' view seems to me nearer, and more likely to lead to, the truth than the Evangelical."*

In fact, Hort's heretical view of baptism probably cost his own son his eternal soul, *as we find Hort assuring his eldest son, Arthur, that his infant baptism was his salvation!

B.F. WESTCOTT

• Westcott did not believe that Genesis 1-3 should be taken literally (He believed in evolution). He also thought that "Moses" and "David" were poetic characters & not real human people. He says * ” King David is only a spiritual character.”. Westcott did not believe any miracles in the bible were literal. Westcott did not believe in a literal second coming of Christ.* “I cannot doubt that He is 'coming' to us now." Westcott also did not believe in a literal heaven. * “Heaven is a state of being & not a place.” While Hort was a lover of Greek philosophy & tried to mingle it with his Christian beliefs, Westcott was deeply devoted to John Newman, the Roman Catholic defector who took 150 Church of England clergymen with him when he went back to the Catholic Church. Newman taught: * “that God never intended the Bible to teach doctrines!” In 1852 Westcott praised the writings of Newman to his wife & even purchased several copies of his books to give away to colleagues (like Hort) for Christmas…All this after Newman left the church of England!

4... It has been often stated that "You are what you read." Westcott's constant exposure to pro-Roman influences set a pattern for his thinking, even though he may not have been aware of it. This constant barrage of Romanizing influences caused Westcott to incorporate many Roman Catholic practices into his thinking. Westcott became intoxicated with the "High Church" atmosphere of Catholicism. Then, little by little, he allowed these Roman ideas to intertwine themselves with his worship service. *These Romanistic leanings eventually led Westcott into allowing the practice of "prayers for the dead." Westcott followed up with petitioning the Anglican Church to adopt “prayers for the dead” into mainstream services. The Church was aghast & shot his plan down. Although the Church would not allow this to continue in his church Westcott still “prayed for the dead” in his “private devotions” & encouraged others to do so also. *He believed in purgatory and admiration for Mary, and he thought the Bible was like any other book. These are the men who walked into the Revision Committee and sat in judgment of our Bible. They thought they saw room for improvement in the Authorized Version and offered a pro-Roman Greek text with which to correct it.

5...Both men were members of a secret society called the Hermes club. In this club members practiced magic & studied the occult. They had actual “church” services where they sang worship songs to earth gods & practiced magic. Most of the members were Roman Catholic

6...Westcott & Hort got together to form their own secret society at Cambridge, they called it The Ghostly Guild.

a) A direct quote from Dr. Hort’s personal diary: *"Westcott, Gorham, C.B., Scott, Benson, Bradshaw, Luard, etc., and I have started a society for the investigation of ghosts and all supernatural appearances and effects, being all disposed to believe that such things really exist, and ought to be discriminated from hoaxes and mere subjective delusions; we shall be happy to obtain any good accounts well authenticated with names. Westcott is drawing up a schedule of questions. Cope calls us the 'Cock and Bull Club;' our own temporary name is the 'Ghostly Guild.' "

b) it is possible that the learned Dr. Hort was influenced by more than philosophy, Greek mythos, & the supernatural… as we see in his description of a hotel in the Alps where he often vacationed:

*"Pontresina, Hotel Krone; homely, but very clean and comfortable; ... beer excellent."

7...Westcott and Hort were considered 'mystics' by their contemporaries. (In addition to numerous references given in New Age Bible Versions, B.F. Westcott is identified as "a mystic" by the standard reference work of his day: The Encyclopedia Britannica (1911). Princeton University Press' recent book, The Christian Socialist Revival (1968, Peter d'A Jones) says B.F. Westcott was "a mystic" (p. 179). The highly respected Encyclopedia of Religion and Ethics identifies both B.F. Westcott and F.J.A. Hort as Alexandrian mystics (see 'Alexandrian Theology' et al.). The Occult Illustrated Dictionary even cites our Bible correctors B.F. Westcott, Hort, and Lightfoot and their 'ghostly' games). At their secret meetings they didn’t have “church”. They instead performed seances & contacted dead spirits.(my bible calls it witchcraft) Did I mention these two men translated all our English translations except the KJV? *As late as 1880 (age 55), Westcott still had "fellowship with the spiritual world" and spoke at large about "the dominion which the dead have over us" (p. 439). *The pretense that Westcott and Hort's Ghostly Guild was 'scientific' rather than 'spiritualistic' is dissolved by the many references cited in the book. If it was scientific, it would not have aroused the "derision and even some alarm" by Cambridge colleagues who were "appalled" and referred to it as "mediaeval darkness."

8...You cannot get something good from something bad! If an apple goes bad you throw it away. If a good cut of steak goes bad…you throw it away! You won’t feed it to a dog! It could kill you! How about a bad apple tree? You cut it down, it will never produce good apples. How about a corrupted Greek Text? You cannot get something good from something that is bad!

D…THE NEW AGE CONNECTION

1...What I am about to tell you is absolutely real. Most of it can be found in the Encyclopedia. Please allow me to build my case & you will be amazed. Promise.

2...Shirley McClain appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show. Mrs. McClain is the self-proclaimed leader of the new-age movement, & their topic on this day was the new age. Oprah (who also believes all this new age garbage) asked who the father of the new age movement was. Mrs. McClain’s answer floored me! Here is her answer:

( “We (the new age movement) actually have two fathers & one mommy. Our two fathers are B.F. Westcott & J.A. Hort. (The same!) & our mother is Helana Blavotsky.”

3...Helana Blavotsky was a spiritual medium in the mid 1800’s. How does she fit into all this? Briefly, she lived in New York & desired to learn white magic. She studied the occult, which caused her husband to divorce her because she “was a witch.” Eventually she moved to England because that was where occultism was big at the time. She joined the Hermes club to study occultic religion. It was there that she met Westcott & Hort. She then went on to join the Ghostly Guild to learn to become a medium & perform seances. She claims to have studied directly under Westcott & Hort. After two years of study she “learned all she could” & moved to California. She immediately founded her new religion called the Theosophical Society. It is still here today, & Mrs. Blavotsky is called the spiritual mother by all new agers.

4...She wrote a book called “The Secret Doctrine”. It came out about the same time as the Revised Version of the bible. You can still buy it today. I bought a copy & I hated to give them my money but you just can’t criticize something you don’t know anything about. The new age movement calls this their “textbook”. She teaches “ There is no hell. Satan is good. Satan is not a fallen angel. Satan ought to be revered & worshipped. Jesus is not God. Jesus Christ tried to take over heaven & failed so he was kicked out of heaven. Jesus is evil.” Why am I going thru all this garbage? To prove my case…Watch!

5...Satan is the father of religion. Religion is Man’s attempt to make himself acceptable to God. The Bible says we can’t do it. Our righteousness (our good works) are as filthy rags in His sight. Satan is the god of this world. In the end times God tells us there will be a one-world system of government & religion. Satan is bringing about this one-world system. The new age movement is ushering in this one world system. The new age is basically eastern religions mingling with western mysticism. The new age movement wants to create a one-world church. The new age movement claims Blavotsky, Westcott, & Hort as their spiritual leaders.

6...The New Age leanings of new versions are not without notice in occult circles. Henry Travers Edge, a personal pupil of Theosophist Mme. Blavatsky, wrote in his book, Esoteric Keys to the Christian Scriptures & The Universal Mystery Language of Math & Symbol:

"[T]he learned body of divines and scholars [Westcott, Hort,] who drew up the 'Revised Version' of 1881 have not endorsed these earlier translations [KJV]. Following the actual Greek text, they have produced a rendering much more in accord with the view a Theosophist takes of the matter" (p. 38).

7...The new agers say the only thing standing in the way of their one world church is Christianity. For the last one houndred years new agers have been trying to get Christians to accept the movement & join up with them to form this one world church…… And their hook is the NIV Bible! The NIV Is loaded with new age phrases, words, beliefs, & teachings. The NIV is taken from the direct translations of Westcott & Hort. The NIV is pulling good churches into a one-world religion. At the very least it makes new agers more acceptable in the end times. You say you don’t believe it…I can prove it!!!

E…A NEW INTERNATIONAL VERSION OF THE BIBLE

1... All the new versions of the bible subtly mirror Blavotsky’s “secret doctrine”.

← All references to hell have been changed to the grave or ‘sheol’ –“there is no hell”.

← most references to homosexuality are omitted in the new versions.

← Psalm 8:5 changes angel to God—“the angel Satan deserves reverence & worship”.

← Luke 2:33; john 3:13; acts 7:59 are just a few verses that deny Jesus’ own claim that he was God.

← Micah 5:2 says God had a beginning, we know God has always existed.

← Isaiah 14:12 teaches us that it was Jesus (the Morning star Rev. 22:16 & Rev 2:26-28) who tried to usurp God’s throne, Lost, & was thrown out of heaven down to earth!

← Are you beginning to see the similarities between new age Blavotsky with Westcott & Hort? One more:

← The NIV teaches a salvation based upon how good we live on earth. (1 Cor. 1:18 ; 1 john 2:8; psalm 119:31 “we are being saved”) This is religion & it sickens God.

← The NIV has gone thru 160 different translations before we got the one in stores today.(if God’s word is pure & perfect why do we need to keep revising it 160 times!) At last count there were over 112 different versions of God’s word & all except one is taken from Westcott & Hort’s corrupted Greek Text. I will list dozens of other serious changes the NIV made to God’s word at the end.

“Choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.”

Mark 4:19

2...The NIV is pulling good churches into a one-world church

← We already established that the NIV is loaded with new age teaching by Westcott & Hort.

← The Catholic Church has always stood by their ASV (1901) see my list at the end.

← The assemblies of God chose to use the NIV only, & the Southern Baptist are close behind.

← The Pope recently advocated using the NIV in place of the ASV.

← The NIV is the bible of choice by almost every TV & radio evangelist; John mcArthur, Charles Swindol, Promise Keepers movement, just to name a few. (By the way, the Promise Keepers are bringing all our churches together to worship…I wonder why?)

← Almost all charismatic believers & prosperity preachers use only the NIV. (Proverbs 8:18; 21:21; & many others change God’s word for “Righteousness” to “wealth/prosperity”) There are varying degrees of distortion in the new versions but the KJV reading gives NO room for misinterpretation

|"[R]eligion does make a man very rich." | |Today's English Version |

|"[R]eligion does yield high dividends." | |New English Bible |

|"Religion, of course, does bring large profits." | |Jerusalem Bible |

|"Serving God does make us very rich." | |New Century Version |

|"A devout life does bring wealth." | |The Message |

. How different these are from the KJV's:

"But godliness with contentment is great gain." (I Tim. 6:6)

A. The Faith Movement loves the new versions also:

|NEW VERSIONS | |KJV |

|"your faith has healed you" (NIV, |Luke 18:42 |"thy faith hath saved thee" |

|NASB) | | |

| | | |

|"make him prosperous" (NIV) |Job 42:10 |"turned the captivity of Job" |

← Almost all of our bible colleges use the NIV as their translation of choice.

← Scanning I John 4:2,3 in a new version will show how their wording fits precisely into the New Age One World Religion.

A. The MAIN tenet of the New World Religion is TOLERANCE for the religious beliefs of others. Therefore Christians may still believe that "Jesus Christ is come in the flesh" as stated in verse 2 above. BUT the broad way forbids that we say that one who "confesses not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God." Therefore, I John 4:2 can stand with little alteration. BUT, I John 4:3 MUST change to conform to the unjudgmental broad way. "Christ is come in the flesh" must be removed. All New World Religion advocates will "acknowledge Jesus."

B. In addition, new versions deny Jesus Christ IS alive; note the change in verse 2 from "is come" to "has come." Those who would deny the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ could "acknowledge" (head knowledge) that he "has come." (The difference between "acknowledge" and "confesses" is apparent to anyone.) When Thomas saw Jesus, he said, "for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have." (Of course the NIV and NASB omit Eph. 5:30 "of his flesh, and his bones." New Greek text editor B.F. Westcott questioned the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ; hence much that points to it has been removed.)

C. The NIV does not render Gen. 41:38 "Spirit of God," but they add a footnote identifying it as the "spirit of the gods." The NIV's rendering points to a demon; the KJV identifies the Holy Ghost--quite a difference!

D. Many liberal denominations try to follow Christ's "example" but do not follow "him." The NIV adds the word "example" twice to the text. We do not "imitate" (NASB) or "follow the example of Christ"; we follow Christ himself. The objects of the prepositions "of" are "me" (Paul) and "Christ." The NIV ignores the Greek grammar and syntax and invents their own object. To drive home their error, the NIV quotes the NASB's "Be imitators of God" in Eph. 5:1.

E. The new versions often employ the device of retaining the words, yet scrambling their order. Phrases cease to modify the intended object and important theological connections are lost.

F. New Age books are always filled with scriptures (always new versions) taken out of context and used to PROVE their false teaching. This year's best-selling book, The Celestine Prophecy, begins with a new version quote from Daniel — then presents the New Age grab bag: nature religion, the occult, channeling, bad 'church' people and a search for ancient manuscripts that will explain human destiny. (The public is being conditioned to look for the antichrist's final bible.)

3...The NIV is just so much easier to read & understand than the KJV.

← It’s true, the NIV is easier to understand. But what is it we are to understand? It was written by lost men. Satan conspired to use a corrupt Greek Text from Egypt to supplant our received text. It is loaded with false teachings & pretends to be a revision of our bible but is really a new translation.

← It’s true, the KJV is harder to read & understand.

( “But God hath revealed them (His Words) unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teaches, but which the Holy Ghost teaches; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man receives not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he that is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.” 1 Cor 2:10-16.

← Where are we going to find the “deep things of God”? Can we find them with “man’s wisdom” ? A “natural man” (lost) cannot understand the word of God, “neither can he know them!” So it doesn’t matter which bible he uses. But for Christians it is very important…as we’ve seen.

F…JESUS CHRIST, THE DECIEVER

1...The chief priests & Pharisees called Jesus a deceiver!

← “the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate, Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again. Command therefore that the sepulcher be made sure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and steal him away, and say unto the people, He is risen from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first. Pilate said unto them, Ye have a watch: go your way, make it as sure as ye can.” Matt 27:62-65.

2...Jesus is not a deceiver…God cannot tell a lie!

← “The angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said.” Matt 28:5-6

← It is always going to be “as He said”!

← Jesus said one would betray Him…Did Judas? Jesus told Peter he would deny Him…Did he?

← In Matt.20:18 Jesus told His disciples he would be betrayed into the hands of the priests, that they’d scourge Him, mock Him, condemn Him to death, crucify Him, & He would rise again on the third day….Did it happen just as Jesus said? YES! It happened exactly as Jesus said! And it will always be just as Jesus says it will be! Jesus is not the deceiver!

← Satan is the deceiver. (john 8:44; rev. 12:9)

← Jesus is the Truth! (John 14:6; john 17:17)

← John 10:35 “the scripture cannot be broken;”

← Matt 24:35 “ my words shall not pass away.”

← Matt 4:4 “Man shall live by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.”

← Ps 12:6-7 “The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.”

← Ps 119:89 “For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.”

G…WHAT DOES GOD THINK ABOUT THE NEW VERSIONS?

← God’s name is only as good as his word. Deut. 28:58.

← God gives a blessing to those who keep all the words of God. Deut. 28:1-13.

← God pronounces a curse on those who change His words or adds to them. Matt. 28:59; rev. 22:18-19.

← Deut 27:26 “ Cursed be he that confirmeth not all the words of this law to do them.”

( The word “confirmeth” means to prove something, to test it before you speak.

( Have we “confirmed” the NIV? Yes! We have confirmed that it is not the pure words of the lord. Therefore there is a curse upon those who wrote it.

← In Deut. 27 God places the translators in the same group with someone who takes advantage of blind people (v.18), sleeps with his father’s wife (v.20), sleeps with their sister or brother (v.22), sleeps with animals (v.21), sleeps with his mother-in-law(v.23), murderers(v.25), & those who do not confirm all the words of God(v.26)!

← It is time for born again Believers to hate the things God hates. God cursed all the above…That’s hate! No? You think I am taking liberties? Let’s see how God really feels about the translators…(notice these curses appear just 15 verses after Deut. 27:26 so you know God is talking to the translators!)

( Deut 28:15-64 “ But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee: Cursed shalt thou be in the city, and cursed shalt thou be in the field. Cursed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy land. The LORD shall send upon thee cursing, vexation, and rebuke, in all that you put your hand to do, until thou be destroyed, and until thou perish quickly; because of the wickedness of thy doings, whereby thou hast forsaken me.(and my Words) The LORD shall make the pestilence cleave unto thee, until they have consumed thee from off the land. The LORD shall smite thee with a consumption, and with a fever, and with an inflammation, and with an extreme burning, and with the sword, and with blasting, and with mildew; and they shall pursue thee until thou perish. And thy carcass shall be meat unto all fowls of the air, and unto the beasts of the earth, and no man shall fray them away. The LORD will smite thee with the botch of Egypt, and with the emerods, and with the scab, and with the itch, whereof thou canst not be healed. The LORD shall smite thee with madness, and blindness, and astonishment of heart: And thou shalt grope at noonday, as the blind gropes in darkness, and thou shalt not prosper in thy ways: and thou shalt be only oppressed and spoiled forever, and no man shall save thee. Thou shalt betroth a wife, and another man shall lie with her: thou shalt build a house, and thou shalt not dwell therein: thou shalt plant a vineyard, and shalt not gather the grapes thereof. Your ox shall be slain before thine eyes, and thou shalt not eat thereof: thine ass shall be violently taken away from before thy face, and shall not be restored to thee: The LORD shall smite thee in the knees, and in the legs, with a sore botch that cannot be healed, from the sole of thy foot unto the top of thy head. Moreover all these curses shall come upon thee, and shall pursue thee, and overtake thee, until thou be destroyed. And they shall be upon thee for a sign and for a wonder, and upon thy seed forever. If you will not observe to do all the words of this book, that you may fear His glorious and fearful name, THE LORD THY GOD; Then the LORD will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues, and of long continuance, and sore sicknesses, and of long continuance. Moreover he will bring upon thee all the diseases of Egypt, which you were afraid of; and they shall cleave unto thee. Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, them will the LORD bring upon thee, until thou be destroyed. And it shall come to pass, that as the LORD rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you; so the LORD will rejoice over you to destroy you !”

← “The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.” Deut 29:29

← “ The statutes of the LORD are right: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.” Psalm 19:8

← “As newborn babes, desire the sincere (pure) milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby.” 1 Peter 2:2

← “ O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart. Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things. For my mouth shall speak truth; All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse (changed) in them.” Prov 8:5-8

← God created the sun, moon & stars with His words-Gen. 1:6-7

← We are here because of His words.

← God will destroy the antichrist by the words of His mouth.- 2 Thess. 2:7-10

← Jesus Christ is called the “Word of God”—Rev. 19:13

← Jesus & the bible are synonymous.—John 1:1-3

» When you mess with the bible by trying to improve it, it’s like trying to improve upon Jesus.

» If you change the pure words of God you no longer have the word of God!

» Pure also means perfect. The new translations claim to have improved the KJV…How do you improve perfection?

← “ Every word of God is pure:” Prov 30:5

← “ The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.” Ps 12:6-7

I…CORRUPTED GREEK TEXTS

1...As of 1993 Satan had put 112 different “versions” of God’s word in our Christian bookstores. All of these “versions” used Wescott & Hort’s translations as their guide. (Professing themselves to become wise, they have become fools! –Rom. 1:22)

2...The main reason ALL the new versions use a corrupted Greek text is because it is older than the Textus Recepticus. Most bible scholars believe that an older text must mean it is a better text…Not so! The discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls point to the Textus Receptus as the more “accurate translation”.

3...Here as a partial list of the “New Translations” of God’s word that you can find in your Christian bookstore today:

1881: Revised Version - Westcott/Hort text, English Revision Committee. Thousands of changes.

1901: American Standard Version (ASV). American translation of the R.V. lead by pro-Catholic, anti-TR chairman Philip Schaff (lost). ASV went broke in 1924, with copyright being bought by the National Council of Churches (NCC).

1944: Ronald Knox' Holy Bible. A Catholic translation based on the Vulgate & Douay-Rheims.

1952: Revised Standard Version (RSV). Revision of the ASV by NCC. 5,000+ changes from a committee of 99 men (20 with communist connections). Why a revision of a revision?

1958: Amplified Bible, Lockman Foundation - A Catholic supported translation committee.

1959: Berkeley Bible. Produced by ecumenical supporter Gerrit Verkuyl.

1963: New American Standard Bible (NASB). By Lockman Foundation, Revision of 1901 ASV. Has the approval stamp of the Catholic church.

1966: Jerusalem Bible. A Catholic church work. Translated from Douay-Rheims & Vulgate.

1967: New Revised Standard Bible (NRSB). Calls itself a KJ Bible, but is not - has 6,560 word changes. Read the Title Page.

1970: New English Bible (NEB). Catholic translation, includes the Apocrypha. An Ecumenical work.

1971: Living Bible. A paraphrase, not a bible by Kenneth Taylor. Adds numerous foul language to verses.

1976: Good News Bible/The English Version (GNB/TEV). By the American Bible Society.

1978: New International Version (NIV). By NV International Bible Society. "Hell" removed 75% (40 out of 53 times). Replaces "hell" with the words "gehenna" & "hades", both of which are taken out of context. The Average reader has no idea what these two words mean!

1978: Deaf Bible. A church of Christ translation, an ecumenical work. Based on Biblia Hebraica & N-U text.

1982: New King James Version (NKJV). Used N-U text, Septuagint, 100,000+ word changes (avg. 82 per page!!). Words of KJ bible replaced with readings from RSV, NASB. John chapter 1, 51 verses, 45 changed (88%). 34 of those readings retain RSV/NASB readings. Only 5 changes unique to NKJV.

4... The NIV completely "TAKETH AWAY" 17 verses!

Wonderful and precious verses like:

MATTHEW 18:11: "For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.".

ACTS 8:37: "And Philip said, If thou believe with all thine heart, thou may. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God."

The NIV version completely "TAKETH AWAY" Matthew 17:21, 18:11, 23:14, Mark 7:16, 9:44, 9:46, 11:26, 15:28, Luke 17:36, 23:17, John 5:4, Acts 8:37, 15:34, 24:7, 28:28, Romans 16:24 and 1 John 5:7!

After Mark 16:8 the NIV says, "The most reliable early manuscripts and other ancient witnesses do not have Mark 16:9-20." ZAP-There goes another 12 verses! And by the way, that is absolutely untrue! The book, The Last Twelve Verses of the Gospel of Mark, by Dean Burgon contains over 400 pages of documented evidence for Mark 16:9-20, that has never been refuted, nor ever will!

After John 7:52, the NIV, reads, "The earliest and most reliable manuscripts and other ancient witnesses do not have John 7:53-8:11" ZAP-There goes another 12 verses!

Matt. 12:47, 21:44, Luke 22:43 and 22:44 are all removed in the footnotes!

That's 45 complete verses the NIV removes from the text or in the footnotes!

5...The NIV "TAKETH AWAY" 64,576 words!

Don't look for the "mercyseat" in the NIV - GONE!

Don't look for "Jehovah" in the NIV - GONE!

Don't look for the "Godhead" in the NIV - GONE!

The NIV removes wonderful Bible "terms" like remission, regeneration, impute, propitiation, new testament and many others! Despite God's clear warnings about "taking away" from His words - the NIV removes 64,576 words! Almost 10% percent of God's word is "TAKEN AWAY"!

That equals REMOVING the books of Ruth, Esther, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon, Lamentations, Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Malachi, Colossians, I Thessalonians, II Thessalonians, I Timothy, II Timothy, Titus, Philemon, James, I Peter, II Peter, I John, II John, III John, Jude and more - COMBINED!!! The equivalence of ripping out OVER 30 BOOKS of the Bible!

In case you think it's insignificant words like "thee" and "thou"? The NIV removes major portions of at least 147 verses! Every word of God is important. The serpent added ONE word and changed the entire course of history. God said, thou "shalt surely die." The serpent added ONE word and said, "Ye shall NOT surely die." When Jesus FIRST met him in Luke 4:4, he brought this to his attention saying, "It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by EVERY word of God." (New versions omit this last part.) Liberals have always said the Bible CONTAINS God's MESSAGE. The Bible however says that it is the very words of God. New versions and their advocates miss the importance of each individual word. They are rapidly moving into the liberal camp where the serpent adds a word here and there, or like Eve, drops a word ("freely"). Paul preached a sermon on the importance of one letter(s) (Gal. 3:16). Those who are not concerned that there are 64,000 words missing in the NIV would invariably overlook the distinction between words like "Jesus" and "God."

A. New versions, in II Sam. 21:19, deny that David killed Goliath. They read instead, "Elhanan the son of Jaareoregin, a Bethlehemite killed Goliath." The NIV: Weighed in the Balance lists over 37 times in I and II Samuel and I and II Chronicles where the NIV ignores the Hebrew text and omits the mention of David. Confusion abounds in the NIV as Job becomes Jashub in Gen. 46:13 and Manasseh becomes Moses in Judges 18:30. The work just cited lists over 100 instances in which the names of 50 different Bible characters have been replaced by "he" or "she". The pronoun's antecedent then becomes a guessing game. Who is talking in the NIV in I Sam. 26:10? Is it David or Abishai?

B. "Diminish not a word," warned God in Jer. 26:2. God is not redundant.

7...Here's a small sampling of words removed in the NIV!

Jesus Christ says, in Luke 4:4, ". . . It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by EVERY WORD of God." But not according to the NIV! In fact, the NIV even "TAKETH AWAY" the last half of Luke 4:4 - "BUT BY EVERY WORD OF GOD"! And Jesus Christ was quoting Deuteronomy 8:3 to Satan! Does the NIV version seriously think the Lord Jesus Christ does NOT know Duet. 8:3???

APPENDIX 1

J…APPENDIX 1 (A Personal History)

← Anyone who has ever played a game, been involved in any kind of competition, or conducted any type of scientific investigation knows that "ground rules" must be established at the beginning. It is far better to know the rules before beginning the investigation rather than to try to establish them as you go. We must be cautious as we seek to found these rules. We must free ourselves from prejudice. We must establish rules which, firstly, will not contradict each other and, secondly, rules that can and will be applied fairly to all evidence examined. As in any issue with two sides, the conclusion can not please all. Those to whom the conclusion is favorable will commend the investigation for its fairness, while those to whom the conclusion is unfavorable will obviously seek to discredit the method used in arriving at such a conclusion. With this in mind, the most important portion of our investigation will not be what evidence we examine, but the rules by which we interpret that evidence.

← Much of the material to be examined is not new but holds huge amounts of truth which have been locked up and unusable due to the previously unfair method by which its testimony was evaluated. To insure that this testimony will be thoroughly heard in an unprejudiced courtroom, I will seek to establish rules which even those who disagree with the conclusion must admit are fair. These rules will judge all the evidence fairly and completely so as to wring every bit of worthwhile testimony from them. We must deal in facts and deal with the facts fairly. As one scholar so aptly put it, "My leading principle is to build solely upon facts -- upon real, not fanciful facts -- not upon a few favorite facts, but upon all that are connected with the question under consideration."

RULE 1…THE BIBLE IS A SPIRITUAL BOOK, which God exerted supernatural force to conceive, and it is reasonable to assume that He could exert that same supernatural force to preserve.

a) God had His hand in its inception. Peter states that the writers of Scripture did not write under their own power, but "holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." (II Peter 1:19-21).

b) The words of those original autographs were not the thoughts of God, but His very words, So that man could have every word of God, pure, complete, trustworthy, and without error.

c) God promised to preserve His words forever! Psalm 12:6, 7. If God has not preserved His words as He said that He would then He has done something which He has never done before. He has wasted His time! The inspiration of the original manuscripts was in vain if we do not have those very same words in English today.

RULE 2…THE BIBLE HAS AN ADVERSARY, who has the ability to counterfeit God's actions and definitely will be involved actively in attempting to destroy God's Word and/or our confidence in that Word, while seeking to replace it with his own "version."

a) If the Bible is a spiritual book in which God has had a positive and an active part. It must also be remembered that there exists in the world a supreme negative power, Satan.

b) Satan is the great counterfeiter; he wanted to be worshipped as God! Isaiah 14:13-14.

c) He has the ability to counterfeit God's actions Matt.24:23-24

d) Satan does not want us to learn the truth. The Bible is God's medium through which He tells us all truth! Jesus said “I am the Truth,” & “Thy word is truth,” Satan has his anti-christs to supplant the truth of Jesus our saviour, & If Satan can eliminate the Bible, he can break our lifeline to Heaven. If he can only get us to doubt its accuracy, he can successfully foil God's every attempt to teach us. The Holy Spirit will lead us into all truth, but every truth He leads us to will be in the Bible.

e) If Satan is going to be consistent with his nature, he must attack the Bible, the Word of God. Are we to believe that Satan, a sworn enemy of Truth, is not going to attempt to disrupt the travel of God's Word through history? Would he dare let the only tangible item which God has left us remain unattacked? No, Satan cannot afford to allow the Holy Scriptures to be unmolested. He will obviously be heard to be its loudest textual critic and will attempt to eliminate God's true Word while replacing it with his own Satanic counterfeit.

f) Strange as it may seem, the only things, which Roman Catholics, apostates, Protestants, and even fundamentalists can agree on is that the King James Bible should be eliminated! This striking truth in itself should be enough to shock born-again Christians into scrutinizing their position to make sure of which side of the fence they are on. When we find ourselves aligned with Satan's church against Scripture, we find ourselves in a very dangerous position. This is especially true when we consider what the result would be if these groups were successful in abolishing the King James Version. The elimination of the Authorized Version finds us without a Bible, at which time we find Rome rushing to the rescue with her 1582 Jesuit translation, and the anti-God Local Text of Alexandria. Knowing that no fundamentalist would consciously use a Roman Catholic Bible, the Roman Church has obliged us by changing the cover to Revised Version, American Standard Version, Good News for Modern Man, the Living Bible, the Amplified Bible, the Jerusalem Bible, the Common Bible, the New International Version, the New Scofield Reference Bible, and many more. The story is true; the names have been changed to protect the guilty.

g) Rome realized that there is not one of these new Roman Catholic translations, which will ever replace God's Authorized Version. Her plan is to get any one of these translations to replace the Authorized Version in any group of Christians. Let the fundamentalists use one of the Revised Standard Version's "twin sons," the New American Standard Version or the New International Version. Convince the young people that they cannot understand the "thees" and "thous" in God's Authorized Version and hand them a "Good News for Modern Man" or a "Living Bible." Promote each new translation of the Local Text of Alexandria, Egypt, as "thoroughly reliable" or "more accurate," until the Authorized Version is removed from the hearts of Christians little by little.

RULE 3…PROVE WHAT IS THAT GOOD,ACCEPTABLE, & PERFECT WORD OF GOD, When a word has two or more potential meanings, the new versions always use this as an opportunity to

1. elevate man and

2. demote Jesus or God.

3. Abridged bookstore lexicons and one word Greek definitions given in Strong's Concordance DO NOT represent the varieties of potential word meanings given in real research lexicons (i.e. the ten volume Theological Dictionary of the New Testament). Both the pagan and Judeo Christian semantic tradition are presented in such unabridged works. Recent bookstore brand lexicons present only the recent liberal trend to choose their definitions from the PAGAN tradition.

4. In the legal world, when liberals could not change the laws, they altered Black's Law Dictionary instead, giving broader and more liberal definitions for words.

5. A parallel move has taken place in the 'dictionaries' used by 'Christians'. Those ministers, students or professors who say, "The word should have been translated like this...," (based on a brief citation in a lexicon) are echoing the serpent's 'hath God said?'. They trust the interpretation of one or two men, who probably are not born again Christians and about whom they know NOTHING.

6. The scriptures are of no "private interpretation" (II Peter 1:20). The entire body of Christ replaced the O.T. priesthood and took over its job to guard the scripture. The Bible (KJV) has been approved after being subjected to the scrutiny of believers for hundreds of years.

7. Cults always move the authority away from the Bible itself. Neither the definitions in interlinears (NASB, NIV, Berry's, Green's, Kohlenberger's, et al.) or the definitions in concordances (Strong's, Young's, et al.) or definitions in lexicons by Bauer, Bullinger, Earle, Gingrich, Kubo, Liddell-Scott, Louw-Nida, Mounce, Perschbacker, Thayer, Vincent, Wigram, Wuest, Brown, Driver and Briggs, Gesenius, Davidson or Holladay can or should be transplanted to replace the correct equivalencies God has instilled into the Bible.

8. The new bible versions are moving the focus of inspiration away from the Bible you hold in your hand to some 'lost originals'. God did not promise inaccurate translations and lost originals. An inerrant, but inaccessible, word of God is of no value. Why wouldn't the world laugh at those who profess infallible truth from a fallible book. Authority is based on infallibility, which is based on inspiration. The ultimate question and the first question (Gen. 3) is who is the authority--God and his word or man and his ideas.

9. I personally believe that God has perfectly preserved His Word in the King James or Authorized Version. I can at least produce a King James Bible to show what I believe in. Any person who claims that God inspired the original autographs perfectly, cannot produce those original manuscripts to prove it! I do not believe that the King James Bible is a new inspiration. "Inspiration" starts with a blank sheet of paper, a man of God, and God. I am saying that the Authorized Version is every word of God that was in the original autographs, preserved to this day. "Preservation" starts with God's manuscripts, a man of God, and God. The end result of both is the same: the perfect Word and words of God. It only makes sense.

Rule four…ACT ON THE INFORMATION YOU HAVE!

1) We who call ourselves "Bible-believing Christians " need to closely examine our curriculum and philosophy of teaching concerning its relationship to the Authorized Version. Preachers should remove all new "Bibles" from their pulpits and private studies, realizing that the Devil uses Rome's teaching very subtly.

2) Secondly, it is time to turn away from the teaching that Westcott and Hort were two born-again, Bible-believing scholars. They were not. They and their long-dead theories concerning the Bible should be treated with all the sincerity with which Darwin and his theory are treated in Christian circles.

3) Thirdly, it is hoped that Christian preachers and teachers would direct their zeal for the Lord in more positive action than in attempting to destroy the Christians faith in God's perfect Word, and to insult or ruin Christian brethren who disagree with them concerning the history of the manuscripts. I believe that parties on both sides have been extremely guilty of attacking each other with such zeal as to be a source of never ending joy for the Roman Catholic Church.

| How To Understand The King James Bible |

|Jesus was not speaking archaic Aramaic to Mary and Joseph yet, "they understood not the saying which he spake unto them." Obsolete words were not the|

|obstacle when he asked Peter, "Are ye also yet without understanding? God tells us man's inability to understand the bible has a number of causes, |

|none of which is a limitation in his vocabulary. The bible is not difficult to understand — it is impossible — unless God's criteria are met. The |

|verses and checklists to follow should help the reader look within his heart for the start of the knot, and then look up to God for the unraveling. |

|Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I cannot; for it is sealed. Isaiah 29:10, 11 |

|Man's sin casts a shadow which darkens his understanding of each verse. |

|[N]one of the wicked shall understand. Daniel 12:10 |

|Even man's mind cannot penetrate the deep, dark shadow which blackens the book'. |

|But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know|

|them, because they are spiritually discerned. I Corinthians 2:14 |

|There is 'a way' of understanding the bible and that way is Jesus Christ. |

|Only the LORD give thee wisdom and understanding. I Chronicles 22:12 |

THE SEVEN SEALS

1. A NEW HEART

a) When we receive Jesus Christ as our Saviour, he gives us a new heart where the Spirit of God can dwell. Have you received him?

▪ Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God...Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. John 3:3, 5

2. PRAY

b) Do you pray before you study the bible?

▪ If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God. James 1:5

3. READ and HEAR

c) Are your senses (seeing and hearing) saturated with the bible, or are they filled with other things such as television, videos, radio, books, newspapers, magazines, or gossip?

▪ Wisdom [the bible] is before him that hath understanding; but the eyes of a fool are in the ends of the earth. [TV, magazines, catalogues, etc.] Proverbs 17:24

d) Do you attend church regularly to hear those whom God has given the ministry of teaching?

▪ And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding. Jeremiah 3:15

e) Do the teachers you hear (church, media, books) gain their understanding of the scriptures from following God's criteria or man's (degrees, commentaries, consensus)?

▪ He that follows vain persons is void of understanding? Proverbs 12:11

4. SEEK

f) Do you pursue an understanding of the bible daily?

▪ I am understanding...those that seek me early shall find me...Blessed is the man that hears me, watching daily at my gates. Proverbs 8:14, 17, 34

5. DELIGHT

g) How do you delight yourself? Are your 'delights' related to the flesh or the spirit? Self or God?

▪ His delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law he meditate day and night. Psalm 1:2

6. MEMORIZE AND MEDITATE

h) Do you think about scripture verses you have memorized or do you think about other things?

▪ I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation. Psalm 119:99

7. OBEY

i) Do you obey the light God has already given you? Do you think he will give you more understanding if you do not follow that which he has already shown you?

▪ I understand more than the ancients, because I keep thy precepts. Psalm 119:100

j) Have you allowed sin to creep into your life?

▪ Yet made we not our prayer before the LORD our God, that we might turn from our iniquities, and understand thy truth. Daniel 9:13

APPENDIX 3

For the leaders of this people cause them to err...Is. 9:16

HOW TO WIN A JEHOVAH WITNESS (OR JEWISH PESON)

TO CHRIST WITH A KJV (an NIV won't work)

|1 |Point him to Rev. 1:11 and read: "I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last": |

|2 |Ask him, "Who is the 'first and the last'?" Who is speaking? |

|3 |Every J.W. (or Jewish person even slightly versed in scripture) will say, "Jehovah," based on |

| |Old Testament verses such as Isaiah 44:6 or 48:12 which say, "I am the first, and I am the |

| |last..." "I am he..." |

|4 |Then point him to Rev. 1:18, "I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for |

| |evermore," |

|5 |Ask him, "When was Jehovah dead?" |

|6 |They then realize that Jesus Christ was "God manifest in the flesh." (1 Tim. 3:16) |

|7 |This technique has been used to lead more J.W.'s to Christ than any other. It works every time|

| |I've done it. |

|8 |Of course NONE of this is in an NIV OR a Jehovah Witness New World Translation! |

The NIV and other new versions make other changes to detract from the deity of Christ. Liberals have always tried to pretend verse 8 and verse 11 are different speakers. They insert "God" in Rev. 1:8 to pretend the speaker is not Jesus Christ but God the Father. "Words of Christ" in red editions sometimes do not put these words in red to perpetuate this false idea. They point to the use of the words "Lord God Almighty" (the three words used in Rev. 1:8 by new versions) as a title belonging to God the Father. The KJV's "Lord" "Almighty" could too easily point to the Lord Jesus (i.e. 1 Cor. 6:14).

Rev. 22:13 and 16 tie together the common identity of the person of Rev. 1:8 and 11 saying,

"I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, the first and the last...I Jesus...I am the...morning star..."

There is no mistaking that it is Jesus Christ who is "the beginning and the ending" of verse 8 (omitted in new versions) and the "Alpha and Omega, the first and the last" of verse 11 and the Old Testament (also omitted in new versions).

In fact, in new versions, the identity of the speaker becomes the fallen "morning star" of Isaiah 14 who the NIV describes as "an oppressor" "a corpse trampled under-foot" because "you have destroyed your land and killed your people...made the world a desert" and would not let his captives go home..."

How unlike our precious Saviour.

APPENDIX 4

AN ALLEGORY

1 THE SUPER SACK.

A) The claims of the new Bibles are strikingly similar to the claims of the famous "Super Sack" grocery bag, which has swept the country. The bag producers wanted to cut production costs. The "old reliable" double bag was just about indestructible when it came to doing its job, but it was too costly to produce. The manufacturers came up with the idea of producing an inferior product but calling it "superior."

I) It has happened to us all. One day, on a trip with our wives to the grocery store, we picked up our groceries and noticed the bag. It wasn't a double bag! "They've made them cheaper," we thought. Then we noticed an official looking statement on the side: "This new Super Sack is made from a new high strength paper. There is no double bagging needed."

II) "Well," we realized, "then it isn't an inferior product after all. It's new and better. That's good to know."

III) We "bought the pitch." In our trusting, childlike manner, we believed that the "Super Sack" was better than the "old reliable" double bag, just because someone told us that it was.

B) "This new Super Sack ... no double bagging needed."

I) How many times have these words echoed through my head as I heard a horrifying, tearing sound. I watched as the cans rolled across the grocery store parking lot. I watched the flour break open in the back seat of the car. After getting the survivors into the car, we headed for home.

II) "This new Super Sack ... no double bagging needed."

III) We hear that sound! We watch broken eggs as they pour their contents out into the driveway. The cereal has broken open, and now the neighbors dog picks up our last package of hamburger. We make a wild dash for the house, leaving a trail of canned goods, broken jelly jars, and spilled milk in our wake. We arrive at the back door holding nothing more than a large piece of brown paper with words on the side reading: "This Super Sack is made from a new high strength paper. There is no double bagging needed."

IV) At times like that, standing there, surveying the damage, I can hardly frame the proper words with which to thank the manufacturers for blessing me with this wonderful, new, improved "Super Sack."

SUPER SACK PHILOSOPHY

2 This "Super Sack" philosophy has existed in the field of Bible translations for years.

B) Every new translation published appears first with a giant "media campaign" directed at the Christian community. This campaign is designed to tell the Christians that they "need" this new translation, because the Christians do not know it. This is not an overstatement but is proven true by the Preface to the New American Standard Version of 1963. The last paragraph in the Preface begins with this statement:

IV) "It is enthusiastically anticipated that the general public will be grateful to learn of the availability, value and need of the New American Standard Version." (Emphasis mine.)

C) The Lockman Foundation has admitted translating a Bible that the general public doesn't know that it needs! It is intended for the general public to realize that they "need" this Bible when they read the advertisement. This is just like a laundry detergent.

2. The Sales Pitch

B) Let us look into the way in which this "Bible advertising" works.

IV) We read a few Christian periodicals and observe that a new translation has been published. It is, of course, compared to the Authorized Version. The "mistakes" of the Authorized Version are revealed to show us the "need" for a new translation. Next, this new translation is unveiled with exclamation of "thoroughly reliable," "true to the Original Greek," and "starting a new tradition." We read but are skeptical.

V) We proceed to the "Bible" bookstore to look over this new translation. After having the "sales pitch" from the man behind the counter, we leave carrying a grocery bag (Super Sack) full of "new," "modern," "easy to read" translations in which we are assured that "all of the fundamentals can be found." On the way home, we decide to try out these "more accurate," "Christ exalting" versions.

The Let Down

3 We meet a Jehovah's Witness. In the following discussion we try to convince him that Jesus Christ was not a created God. He shows us John 1:18 in his "New World Translation." It reads that Christ was the "only begotten God." We snicker. "That's just your version," we say, reaching for a New International Version. To our amazement it also reads "only begotten God!"

4 Being fully embarrassed, we change the subject to the trinity. "I John 5:7!" we exclaim. Now we've got him! We turn to I John 5:7 in the "Good News for Modern Man." "There are three witnesses," it says.

5 Our Jehovahs Witness asks, "So, what does that teach?" We stammer, "Wait a minute," as we reach for a New American Standard Version. "And it is the Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit is truth." "So how is the trinity taught from that verse?" he demands.

6 With our face glowing red and phrases like "thoroughly reliable" and "faithful to the originals" spinning through our head, we desperately grab a New King James Version. "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one." I John 5:7. "There it is! There it is!" We exclaim, "See there, the Trinity!"

7 "Read the footnote on it," he states calmly. "Out loud!" "The words from 'in heaven' (v. 7) through 'on earth' (v. 8) are from the Latin Bible, although three Greek mss. from the 15th Century and later also contain them." "You see," says our adversary, "it doesn't belong there." Thankfully he hasn't got any more time to talk, and he leaves.

8 We tear our "Super Sack" slightly as we pick it back up and head for home, not quite understanding what has taken place. In our mind we hear the Bible store salesman saying, "But I can find the fundamentals in these new versions."

Devastating Revelations

10 In an attempt to boost our own morale, we try to lead a man to Christ. We tell him the simplicity of conversion. We relate to him how easy it was for the Ethiopian eunuch. We open a Revised Standard Version to show it to him. We read Acts 8:36 and then the next verse, verse 38. "Wait just a second; I seem to have skipped over a verse," we say apologetically.

11 We read verse 36, then carefully run our finger across the line to the next verse, verse 38! There is no verse 37! This eunuch never believed on the Lord Jesus Christ! "Excuse me," we apologize. "I seem to have picked up the wrong Bible."

12 We lay down the Revised Standard Version and pick up the New American Standard Version. We read again. This time we arrive at verse 37. It says, "See footnote." "No thank you!" we say to ourselves.

13 Having lost his train of thought, our lost friend walks off shaking his head and wondering why Christians don't know their Bibles better.

14 Of all things, we run into an infidel before we can reach the safety of our home.

15 "Jesus Christ was not God in the flesh," he states. "Oh yes He was!" we retort confidently, happy to have the opportunity to redeem ourselves for the bad showing earlier. "Look at I Timothy 3:16." We pick the Living Bible.

16 "But the answer lies in Christ, who came to earth as a man...." "There's no 'God' in that verse," he declares.

17 The statement of the salesmen comes to mind again. "But I can find the fundamentals in these." "Where?" we ask ourselves returning to the Revised Standard Version. "He was manifested in the flesh...."

18 "Where is God?" demands our infidel. We wonder the same thing!

19 "He appeared in human form," says the Good News for Modern Man.

20 "He who was revealed in the flesh," states the New American Standard Version.

21 "Where is God?" demands our infidel with finality. "I don't know. I really don't know," we reply with our heads down in sorrow.

22 We drag our wounded spirits home. Words cannot describe our "gratitude" to the Lockman Foundation and all the rest of those "godly, conservative scholars" who gave us these "accurate, reliable, true to the original" translations. We hear a horrifying, tearing sound as we reach the back door.

23 The next morning the garbage man finds a garbage bag full of brand new, unused "Bibles" covered by a large, torn piece of brown paper with the words on the side saying: "This new Super Sack is made from a new high strength paper. There is no double bagging needed."

24 No thank you, we will stick with our "old, reliable" King James, 1611. The story has been an allegory, but the philosophy it describes is very true.

“We need to beware of all these New Age versions. Let your people know and stand for right…. I call the KJV the real NIV - Never Improved Version."---------Leonard Ravenhill

Hear ye, and give ear; be not proud:

for the LORD hath spoken...

But if ye will not hear it,

my soul shall weep in secret places

for your pride; and mine eye shall weep sore,

and run down with tears,

because the LORD's flock is carried away captive.

Jeremiah 13:15, 17

For I testify unto every man that heareth

the words of the prophecy of this book,

If any man shall add unto these things,

God shall add unto him the plagues

that are written in this book:

And if any man shall take away

from the words of the book of this prophecy,

God shall take away his part out of the book of life,

and out of the holy city,

and from the things which are written in this book.

APPENDIX 5

Who translated the King James Bible?

Dr. Lancelot Andrews

A In his day He was called the 'star of preachers. Dr. Andrews was also known as a great man of prayer, yet he was not "above" the people around him.

2 Dr. John Overall.

A He was known for his opposition to Roman rule. In spite of his defense of the faith Dr. Overall was a great soulwinner. Dr. Overall was vital to the translation because of his vast knowledge of quotations of the early church fathers.

3. Dr. Hadrian Saravia,

A. He was as evangelical as he was scholarly, educated in all kinds of literature in his younger days, and very skilled in several languages

Dr. John Laifield

A. A man of unique talents & an extraordinary translator. Of him it is said: "That being skilled in architecture, his judgment was much relied on for the fabric of the tabernacle and temple

Dr. Robert Tighe

B. He is "an excellent textuary and profound lingtlist.”

Dr. William Bedwell

C. He is "an eminent Oriental scholar." His epitaph mentions that he was "for the Eastern tongues, as learned a man as most lived in these modern times."

D. He wrote a Persian dictionary & several books including: A Discovery of the Impostures of Mahomet and of the Koran, & Arabian Trudgeman.

E. He invented a ruler for geometrical purposes still used today called 'Bedwell's Ruler'.

Dr. Edward Lively

F. He is "one of the best linguists in the world ... Much dependence was placed on his surpassing skill in Oriental languages”

Dr. Lawrence Chaderton

G. He was raised a Roman Catholic and encouraged by his family to become a lawyer. He traveled to London where he Became born again then joined the Puritan Congregation there.

H. He was very familiar with the Latin, Greek, and Hebrew tongues and was thoroughly skilled in them. Moreover he had diligently investigated the numerous writings of the ancient Rabbis.

I. Dr. Chaderton was a powerful preacher who lived to the age of one hundred and three. Even in his later years he would preach over two hours, And at the request of certain congregations would sometimes preach another hour or longer!

Dr. Francis Dillingham

J. He was so studied in the original languages that he participated in public debate in Greek! He also took aggressive action against the teaching of Rome by exposing many heresies.

4. Dr. Thomas Harrison

A. As Vice-Master of Trinity College in Cambridge He oversaw the hiring of all professors of Greek & Hebrew in most collages in London & surrounding areas.

5. Dr. John Harding,

A. He is the Royal Professor of Hebrew in the University for thirteen years. During his occupancy of that chair, his classes were so full that thousands of students were turned away each year!

Dr. John Reynolds

B. He was raised in the Roman Catholic Church. As Dr. Chaderton, he too trusted Christ and became a Puritan

C. He was skilled in Hebrew and Greek & devoted himself to the study of the Scriptures in the original tongues, He also read all the Greek and Latin fathers, and all the ancient records of the Church."

D. His aggressive nature toward the false teachings of his former church was a lifelong evangelism.

Dr. Richard Kilby

E. He was a college professor teaching Hebrew & Greek yet he was very humble. His son was a preacher & they were both loved by all that met them.

Dr. Miles Smith

F. He was the man responsible for the preface to the King James Bible. This preface is no longer printed in the present copies of the Book.

G. He had a knowledge of the Greek and Latin fathers, as well as being expert in Chaldee, Syriac, and Arabic. "Hebrew he had at his finger's end, as well as the Ethiopic tongue.”

Dr. Henry Saville

H. He was known for his Greek and mathematical learning. He was so well known for his education, skill with languages and knowledge of the Word, that he became Greek and mathematical tutor to Queen Elizabeth during the reign of her father, Henry VIII.

I. He wrote a huge volume on one of the most famous early Greek fathers, John Chrysostom.

16 We could go on and on concerning the scholarship of the King James translators, but I have not the space here.

A. It should be noted that these men were qualified in the readings of the church fathers which prevented them from being "locked" to the manuscripts, causing early readings to be overlooked. This is vastly better than the methods used by modern translators.

B. It should also be recognized that these men did not live in "ivory towers." They were men who were just as renowned for their preaching ability as they were for their esteemed education. It is a lesson in humility to see men of such great spiritual stature call themselves "poor instruments to make God's Holy Truth to be yet more and more known."

6. What do we know of the scholarship of the revision committee of today’s modern bible versions?

A. Almost nothing ! The publishers all admit a “cloud of secrecy” surrounds the revision committee. The translating committee of the New International Version is also nameless. We are assured of their "scholarship" although we are offered no proof.

B. Due to this mistaken preference for Roman Catholic manuscripts, EVERY Bible translation since 1881 is linked directly to the Revised Version, and had nothing to do with the Authorized Version. These new translations follow the same MSS family as the Revised version. This family is the Local Text of Alexandria, Egypt and has no relationship whatsoever to the Authorized Version.

APPENDIX 6

The Language of the King James Bible

Recent research from Harvard University concludes "The Authorized Version {KJV} emerges from comparison with twentieth-century versions as more attractive and more accurate." (p. 135). "Even the secular world can spot a counterfeiter. The publishers of the New King James Bible (NKJV) have been charged with fraud by the Securities and Exchange Commission. They are now paying nearly $400,000 in fines." (p. 127).

← The King James Bible contains God's Built-in Dictionary, defining each word, in its context, using the very words of the Webster’s and Oxford English Dictionaries!

← The King James Bible has a vocabulary and reading level which slowly builds progressively from Genesis to Revelation.

← The King James Bible uses words with the appropriate sound symbolism. It has a vocabulary that phonaesthetically fulfills the Bible's own description of itself as "powerful."

← The King James Bible is the only extant access we have to the pure language lexicons of the 16th and 17th centuries.

← The King James Bible gives a transparent view of the Greek and Hebrew vocabulary, grammar and syntax.

← The King James Bible has internationally recognizable vocabulary and spelling.

← The King James Bible uses literary devices that enhance doctrinally important concepts and memorability.

← The King James Bible has a sentence structure that enhances accurate doctrinal interpretation.

← The King James Bible's words and sentences are patterned and woven through its fabric so as to provide a consistency of form and content.

← The King James Bible has the precision and longevity of the legal document that it is. (To be equitable all English speaking persons must be judged by the same criteria.)

← Why does the NKJV use harder words than the KJV? The derivative copyright law insists that: "To be copyrightable, a derivative work must be different enough from the original to be regarded as a 'new work' or must contain a substantial amount of new material. Making minor changes or additions of little substance to a pre-existing work will not qualify the work as a new version for copyright purposes." Therefore all new Bible versions must change those simple one or two syllable Anglo-Saxon words of the King James Version into complex, multi-syllable "Latinized" words. Consequently, the KJV reads at the 5th grade level and the NKJV reads at the 6th grade level. Because of this copyright law, there will never be an easier to read Bible than the KJV. Please Note: All editions of the NKJV are not the same.

← The advertised "readability" of the NIV is also a ruse. A mind trying to meditate or memorize the word becomes entangles in a maze of multi-syllabic 'cerebral' sounding sentences.

← ( Complete charts and illustrations on all of the above points are available to you if you will just ask me…Neil.)

APPENDIX 7

WHAT DID YOU SAY ABOUT THE NEW KING JAMES BIBLE?

The Preface to the New King James Version (NKJV) reads, "A special feature of the New King James Version is ITS CONFORMITY to the thought flow of the 1611 Bible. . . the new edition, while much clearer ARE SO CLOSE to the traditional. . ."

Among the first changes that greets the reader of the NKJV is the removal of the much maligned "thee, thou and ye". The Preface to the NKJV states, ". . .thee, thou, and ye are replaced by the simple you,. . .These pronouns are no longer part of our language." But "thee, thou and ye" were "NO LONGER part of the language" during 1611 either. (Just read the intro. to the 1611 King James, there are no "thee", "thou" and "ye"). In fact, Webster's Third New International Dictionary, says of ye: "used from the earliest of times to the late 13th century. . ." (p.2648) And yet the 1611 King James was published 400 years later in the 17th century!

So why are they there?

The Greek and Hebrew language contain a different word for the second person singular and the second person plural pronouns. Today we use the one-word "you" for both the singular and plural. But because the translators of the 1611 King James Bible desired an accurate, word-for-word translation of the Hebrew and Greek text - they could NOT use the one-word "you" throughout! If it begins with "t" (thou, thy, thine) it's SINGULAR, but if it begins with "y" (ye) it's PLURAL. Ads for the NKJV call it "the Accurate One", and yet the 1611 King James, by using "thee", "thou", "ye", is far more accurate!

By the way, if the "thee's" and "thou's" are ". . .no longer part of our language" - why aren't the NKJV translators rushing to make our hymnbooks "much clearer"? "How Great Thou Art" to "How Great You Are", or "Come Thou Fount" to "Come You Fount" Doesn't sound right, does it? Isn't it amazing that they wouldn't dare "correct" our hymns - and yet, without the slightest hesitation, they'll "correct" the word of God! The NKJV claims to make the "old" KJV "much clearer" by "updating obsolete words" (New King James Version, 1982e. p. 1235)

How about that "obsolete word" - "hell". The NKJV removes the word "hell" 23 times! And how do they make it "much clearer"? By replacing "hell" with "Hades" and "Sheol"! Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary defines Hades: "the underground abode of the dead in Greek MYTHOLOGY". By making it "much clearer" - they turn your Bible into MYTHOLOGY! Not only that, Hades is not always a place of torment or terror! The Assyrian Hades is an abode of blessedness with silver skies called "Happy Fields". In the satanic New Age Movement, Hades is an intermediate state of purification! Who in their right mind would think "Hades" or "Sheol" is "up-to-date" and "much clearer" than "hell"?

Matthew 16:18

KJV: "And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."

NKJV: "And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it."

Luke 16:23

KJV: "And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and sees Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom."

NKJV: "And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom."

Hell is removed in 2 Sam. 22:6, Job 11:8, 26:6, Psalm 16:10, 18:5, 86:13, 116:3, Isaiah 5:14, 14:15, 28:15,18, 57:9, Jonah 2:2, Matt. 11:23, 16:18, Luke 10:15, 16:23, Acts 2:27, 31, Rev. 1:18, 6:8, 20:13,14.

Then the NKJV decides that maybe "Hades" should be "grave"! So the NKJV makes 1 Corinthians 15:55 "much clearer" by changing "grave" to "Hades"! ". . . O Hades, where is your victory?" Clear as mud. . .

Another one of those "obsolete words" is "repent". They take it out 44 times! And how does the NKJV make it "much clearer"? In Matthew 21:32 they use "relent". Matthew 27:3 it's "remorseful" Or Romans 11:29 they change "repentance" to "irrevocable".

The term "new testament" is NOT in the NKJV! (See Matt. 26:28, Mark 14:24, Luke 22:20, 1 Cor. 11:25, 2 Cor. 3:6, Heb. 9:15,) The NKJV replaces "new testament" with "new covenant" (ditto NIV, NRSV, RSV, NASV). An obvious assault at the written word!

The word "damned", "damnation" is NOT in the NKJV! They make it "much clearer" by replacing it with "condemn" (ditto NIV, RSV, NRSV, NASV). "Condemned" is NO WHERE NEAR AS SERIOUS as "damned"! Damned is eternal! One can be "condemned" and not "damned". Romans 14:22 says, ". . . Happy is he that condemns not himself in that thing which he allows." Webster defines "condemned": to declare to be wrong, but the much more serious and eternal "damn": "to condemn to hell".

The word "devils" (the singular, person called the "devil" is) is NOT in the NKJV! Replaced with the "transliterated" Greek word "demon" (ditto NIV, RSV, NRSV, NASV). The Theosophical Dictionary describes demon as: ". . . it has a meaning identical with that of 'god', 'angel' or 'genius'". Even Vines Expository Dictionary of Biblical Words (p.157) defines "demon" as: "an inferior deity, WHETHER GOOD OR BAD". Webster defines "demon" as: "divinity, spirit, an attendant power or spirit", but "devil" as: "the personal supreme spirit of EVIL. . ."

In 2 Timothy 2:15, the NKJV (like the NIV, NASV, RSV, NRSV) remove that "obsolete" word - "study"! The only time you're told to "study" your Bible. AND THEY ZAP IT! Why don't they want you to "study" your Bible? Maybe they don't want you to look too close - you might find out what they've ACTUALLY done to your Bible! The "real" KJV is the only English Bible in the world that instructs you to "study" your Bible!

That "obsolete" word "virtue" is replaced with "power" in Mark 5:30, Luke 6:19, 8:46! How does anybody confuse "virtue" with "power"? Simple - by being "bosom-buddies" with the NIV, NASV, RSV, NRSV! That's what they did!

One of the most absurd changes ever made is changing the word "servant" to "slave"! The NKJV in Romans 6:22, reads: "But now having been set FREE from sin, and having become SLAVES OF GOD. . ." The NKJV, in 1 Corinthians 7:22, calls the Christian, "Christ's slave". Talk about a contradiction! John 8:36 says, "If the Son therefore shall make you FREE, YE SHALL BE FREE INDEED." But isn't a Christian supposed to serve? Yes, in love. Not as a slave! Galatians 5:13 explains it, perfectly: "For, brethren, ye have been called unto LIBERTY;(not slavery!) only use not LIBERTY for an occasion to the flesh, but BY LOVE SERVE one another."

In order to "harmonize" with the satanic New Age Movement (and of course the NIV, NASV, RSV, NRSV!), the NKJV changes "end of the WORLD" to "end of the AGE"! And in it's no longer the "WORLD to come" but "AGE to come". The New Age Movement teaches a series of ages (hence the name: New AGE). See Matthew 12:32, 13:39, 13:40, 13:49, 24:3, 28:20, Mark 10:30, Luke 13:30, 20:34,35, 1 Cor 1:21.

The New Age Movement and the occult are longing for one called the Maitreya. The Bible calls him the Anti-Christ. New Ager's refer to him as the "the Coming One" - AND SO DOES THE NKJV! In Luke 7:19, 20 (see also Matt 11:3) John told his disciples to ask Jesus: "Are You THE COMING ONE. . ." In the "The Great Invocation", a "prayer" highly reverenced among New Agers and chanted to "invoke" the Maitreya, says, "Let Light and Love and Power and Death, Fulfil the purpose of the Coming One."

And to REALLY show their sympathy with the satanic New Age Movement - BELIEVE IT OR NOT - in Acts 17:29 the New Age NKJV changes "Godhead" to "Divine Nature"! ( ditto NIV, NASV)

And if you think the NKJV just "innocently" updated the "obsolete words", removed the "thee's and thou's" - here's what the translators proudly admit: "IT IS CLEAR that this revision REQUIRED more than the dropping of "-eth" endings, removing, "thee's" and "thou's," and updating obsolete words." (The New King James Version, 1982e. p. 1235)

|Here's a sampling of the required changes: |

Genesis 2:18: The NKJV ought to make Hillary Clinton proud: "And the Lord God said, It is not good that man should be alone; I will make a helper COMPARABLE TO HIM"

Genesis 22:8: One of the greatest verses in the Bible proclaiming that Jesus Christ was God in the flesh: "God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering:" The NKJV adds that little word "for": "God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering" And destroys the wonderful promise! Where'd they get their little "for"? From the NASV!

Genesis 24:47: The "old" KJV reads: "I put the earring upon her face". But the NKJV has different plans for beautiful Rebekah: "I put the nose ring on her nose". Where did it get the ridiculous idea to "cannibalize" Rebekah? Just take a peek at the NIV, NASV, RSV, NRSV!

Ezra 8:36: The KJV reads, "And they delivered the king's commissions unto the king's lieutenants. . ." The "much clearer" NKJV reads, "And they delivered the king's orders to the king's satraps. . ." Who in the world thinks "satraps" is "much clearer" than lieutenants? The NIV, NASV, NRSV, RSV - they do! They put in the same "much clearer" word!

Psalms 109:6: removes "Satan". (NIV, NASV, RSV, NRSV).

Matthew 7:14: change "narrow is the way" to "difficult is the way". There's nothing "difficult" about the salvation of Jesus Christ! Jesus says in Matt. 11:30, "For my yoke is EASY, and my burden is light." THE EXACT OPPOSITE! Boy, you talk about a contradiction!

Matthew 12:40: change "whale" to "fish" (ditto NIV) I don't guess it matters (what's the truth got to do with it?), the Greek word used in Matthew 12:40 is ketos. The scientific study of whales just happens to be - CETOLOGY - from the Greek ketos for whale and logos for study! The scientific name for whales just happens to be - CETACEANS - from the Greek ketos for whale!

Matthew 18:26 & Matthew 20:20: The NKJV removes "worshipped him" (robbing worship from Jesus) (NIV, NASV, RSV, NRSV)

Mark 13:6 & Luke 21:8: removes "Christ" (NIV, NASV, RSV, NRSV)

John 1:3: change "All things were made BY him;" to "All things were made THROUGH Him" (NIV, NRSV, RSV)

John 4:24: change "God is a spirit" to the impersonal, New Age pantheistic,"God is spirit" (NIV, NASV, NRSV, RSV)

John 14:2: (NKJV 1979 edition) change "mansions" to "dwelling places" (NIV, NASV, RSV, NRSV)

John 14:16: change "comforter" to "helper"(refers to Holy Spirit) (NASV)

Acts 4:27, 30: change "holy child" to "holy servant" (refers to Jesus) (NIV, NASV, NRSV, RSV)

Acts 12:4: change "Easter" to "Passover" (NIV, NASV, RSV, NRSV)

Acts 17:22: changes "superstitious" to "religious" (NIV, NASV, NRSV, RSV)

Acts 24:14: change "heresy" to "sect" (NIV, NASV, NRSV, RSV)

Romans 1:18: change "hold the truth" to "suppress the truth" (NIV, NASV, NRSV, RSV)

Romans 1:25: change "changed the truth" to "exchanged the truth" (NIV, NASV, NRSV, RSV)

Romans 5:8: change "commends" to "demonstrates" (NIV, NASV)

Romans 16:18: change "good words and fair speeches" to "smooth words and flattering speech" (NIV, NASV, NRSV)

1 Cor. 1:21: change "foolishness of preaching" to "foolishness of the message preached" (ditto NIV, NASV, NRSV, RSV) There's nothing foolish about the gospel of Jesus Christ. Unless you're not saved! 1 Cor. 1:18 says: "For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish FOOLISHNESS. . ." I wonder where that leaves the translators of the NKJV, NIV, NASV, RSV, NRSV?

1 Cor. 1:22: change "require" to "request" (NASV)

1 Cor. 6:9: removes "effeminate" (NIV, NRSV, RSV)

1 Cor. 9:27: change "castaway" to "disqualified" (NIV, NASV, NRSV, RSV)

2 Cor. 2:10: change "person of Christ" to "presence of Christ" (NASV, NRSV, RSV)

2 Cor. 2:17: With all the "corruptions" in the NKJV, you'd expect 2 Cor. 2:17 to change. IT DOES! They change, "For we not as many which CORRUPT the word of God" to "For we are not, as so many, PEDDLING the word of God" (ditto NIV, NASV, NRSV, RSV)

2 Cor. 5:17: change "new creature" to "new creation" (NIV, NRSV, RSV)

2 Cor. 10:5: change "imaginations" to "arguments". Considering New Age "imaging" and "visualization" is now entering the church, this verse in the "old" KJV just won't do. (NIV, RSV)

2 Cor. 11:6: change "rude in speech" to "untrained in speech" (NIV, NASV, RSV, NRSV)

Gal. 2:20: omit "nevertheless I live" (NIV, NASV, NRSV, RSV)

Phil. 2:6: (NKJV 1979e.) change "thought it not robbery to be equal with God" to "did not consider equality with God something to be grasped". (robs Jesus Christ of deity) (NIV, NASV, RSV)

Phil. 3:8: change "dung" to "rubbish" (NIV, NASV, NRSV)

1 Thess. 5:22 change "all appearance of evil" to "every form of evil" (NASV, RSV, NSRV)

1 Timothy 6:5: The NKJV changes "gain is godliness" to "godliness is a MEANS OF gain". There are NO Greek texts with "means of" in them! Where, oh where, did they come from? Care to take a wild guess? YOU GOT IT! The NIV, NASV, RSV, NRSV!

1 Timothy 6:10: The NKJV changes "For the love of money is the root of all evil:" to "For the love of money is a root of all KINDS OF evil". The words "KINDS OF" are found in NO Greek text in the world! Where did they get them? Straight from the NIV, NASV, NRSV!

1 Tim. 6:20: change "science" to "knowledge" (NIV, NASV, RSV, NRSV)

Titus 3:10: change "heretic" to "divisive man" (NIV)

Hebrews 4:8 & Acts 7:45: "Jesus" is changed to "Joshua". (NIV, NASV, RSV)

2 Pet. 2:1: change "damnable heresies" to "destructive heresies" (NIV, NASV, RSV, NRSV)

1 John 3:16: remove "love of God"; (NIV, NASV, RSV, NRSV)

1 John 5:13: The NKJV reads: "These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may CONTINUE TO believe in the name of the Son of God." They add "CONTINUE TO" without any Greek text whatsoever! Not even the perverted NIV, NASV, NRSV and RSV go that far! A cruel, subtle (see Genesis 3:1) attack on the believer's eternal security!

Rev. 2:13: change "Satan's seat" to "Satan's throne" (NIV, NASV, RSV, NRSV)

Rev. 6:14: "Heaven" is changed to "sky" in (NIV, NASV, RSV, NRSV)

AND THAT DOESN'T SCRATCH THE SURFACE OF ALL THE CHANGES!

The NKJV removes the word "Lord" 66 times!

The NKJV removes the word God 51 times!

The NKJV removes the word "heaven" 50 times!

In just the New Testament alone the NKJV removes 2.289 words from the KJV!

The NKJV makes over 100,000 word changes!

And most will match the NIV, NASV, RSV, or RSV!

And Thomas Nelson Publishers have the audacity to claim in an ad for the NKJV (Moody Monthly, June 1982, back cover), "NOTHING HAS BEEN CHANGED except to make the original meaning clearer."

It's NOT NEW! The changes are already in the NIV, NASV, NRSV, or RSV!

And it's certainly NOT true to the 1611 King James Bible!

This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God:

They that acknowledge that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God,

but every one that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God.

This is the spirit of antichrist... Hereby know ye the Spirit of God:

Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:

And every spirit that confesses not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh

is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist... I John 4:2-3

APPENDIX 8

1. Most modern “Bibles” remove “Lucifer” from Isa. 14:12 and replace it with “morning star” (or similar). This implies that Christ, the “bright and morning star,” (2 Pet. 1:19; Rev. 2:28, 22:16) is the subject of the passage, falling from Heaven into Hell! Like the “New Age” religion, they teach that Lucifer is not Satan or evil. The NIV says “Lucifer” in Lk. 10:18 where it should be Satan (“Satanas” in Greek). The NASV places the reference 2 Pet. 1:19 in Isa. 14:12 implying the passage refers to Christ.

2. . They remove male pronouns from many verses (“he,” “him,” etc.) and refer to God or Christ as “One” or “the One.” This makes God neuter and gives him the “New Age” proper name—“One.” New Agers make much of “the One”—their universal pantheistic deity. Matt. 11:3, 13:37,

19:17, 24:13; Mark 12:32; Luke 1:49, 7:20, 9:35, 10:16, 12:5, 23:35; John 1:18,26, 4:25,42, 6:42,46,69, 7:18, 9:37, 12:45, 13:31; Acts 7:38, 10:21,42, 22:9; 1 Cor. 15:28; Col 3:10; Heb. 5:7, 7:21, 1 Pet. 1:15; Rev. 1:18, 2:1.

The KJV does not emphasis or capitalize “One” alone as a proper name. Matt. 23:8-10; Mark 1:7; Luke 3:16; John 1:26, 8:50; Rom. 5:17,19; Rev. 2:12.

3.They capitalize “virgin” (or put “the” in front of it) to make it a proper name, implying Mary’s “perpetual virginity”. Mary was “a virgin,” not “The Virgin” of heathen religions. Isa. 7:14; Matt. 1:23.

4. They butcher the Lord’s model prayer in Luke 11:2-4. The NIV removes “Our” from “Our Father” making God a “universal father;” it omits both references to God’s dwelling place: “heaven,” “which art in heaven,” and “as in heaven so in earth;” it doesn’t want God’s will done on earth since it omits “thy will be done;” and it omits the admonition that one should pray for deliverance, “deliver us from evil.”

5. They change “fruit of the Spirit” to “fruit of the light”—Lucifer. Eph. 5:9, and destroy the AV reference to the pagan “God of forces”—the New Age god. Dan. 11:38.

6. They adopt the pagan doctrine of self torture or penance. In 1 Cor. 9:27 they use “beat” (NIV), “punish” (LB), and “buffet” (NASV) in place of “keep under.” See also Gal. 5:12 where they replace “cut off” with “emasculate” or “mutilate.” See also Col. 2:23.

7. They replace “Mystery Babylon” with just “Babylon” changing the reference from a religious institution to a location. Rev. 17:5.

8. They change the descriptive term “fornication” to the vague “immorality.” Immorality is relative to the person, fornication is not; it describes specifically what is wrong. 1 Cor. 5:1,10, 6:13,18; Gal. 5:19; Eph. 5:3; Rev. 2:14,20, 9:21, 14:8, 17:2,

18:3,9, 19:2. They also change “whoremonger” to “immoral.” 1 Cor. 6:18; Eph. 5:5; Rev. 21:8, 22:15.

9. They deny a believer is to “take up thy cross” and follow Christ in Mark 10:21. To appease the “positive thinkers,” they say “then come, follow me.”

10. They change “perfect” to “complete,” “adequate,” “equipped,” or “mature.” A Christian’s goal should be spiritual perfection. Matt. 19:21; Luke 6:40; 2 Cor. 13:11; 1 Thes. 5:23 (complete); Eph. 4:12; 2 Tim. 3:17; Heb. 13:21 (equip); 1 Cor. 2:6; Eph. 4:13; Heb. 6:1 (mature).

11. They substitute mental assent for menial labor. 2 Cor. 5:9 (labor); Jn. 7:17 (do); 2 Tim. 3:12 (live); 2 Cor. 2:8 (toward); Rom. 12:13 (distributing); 1 Pet. 1:16 (be ye holy).

12. They put “pride” in verses where there is no Greek to support it (promoting positive thinking and undue self esteem). 2 Cor, 1:12,14, 5:12, 7:4; Gal. 6:4; Phil. 1:26; Jam. 1:9,10.

13. They teach “imitation” instead of “follow(ing.)” 1 Cor. 11:1; Eph. 5:1.

14. They change “blasphemy” to the much weaker “slander.” Mk. 7:22, Matt. 15:19; Col. 3:8; 2 Tim. 3:2; Tit. 2:5.

15. They call “devils” “demons.” Devils are always evil; to a “New Ager” demons are not.

16. They call “servants” “slaves.” Slaves are compelled to obey; servants work freely for the benefit of their master. Luke 7:2,10, 12:37, 43,46,47, 15:22, 19:13,15. 20:10; etc.

17. They teach salvation is difficult to obtain (2 Cor. 11:3), and that one can save himself (Luke 21:19, NIV). The NIV coordinator (Edward Palmer) denies salvation by faith. So do Westcott and Hort.

18. They teach salvation is a process with baptism as the initiating act. Mark 16:16; Luke 13:23, 15:32; Acts 2:38, 47, 15:19; 1 Cor. 1:2,5,18, 6:11; Eph. 2:9; Col. 2:10,20, 3:3,9. The AV says “are saved” where the new versions say “have been saved” or “were saved,” etc. See NASV in 1 Pet. 2:2.

19. They substitute “obedience” (works) for “belief.” Jn. 3:36; Rom. 11:32, 15:31; Heb. 3:1-8, 4:6,11. And also “endurance” for “patience.” Rom. 5:4; 2 Cor. 6:4,6, 12:12; Col. 1:23; 1 Tim. 2:12; 1 Pet. 1:5.

20. They allow for another means of eternal life. Jn. 6:68 (“the” removed). Other places where “the” is removed, changing the meaning of the verse. Mark 1:4 (baptism); Acts 14:27 (faith); Tit. 1:4 (faith); 2 Jn. 1:1 (truth); Rev. 14:6 (gospel).

21. They omit or weaken references to the word of God, Luke 4:4 (omitted), 4:32, 5:5, 20:20; Jn. 6:68; 10:21, 12:48; Acts 4:4, 6:20, 10:22,36.

22. They call God “a God,” Dan. 3:25; Acts 14:15; 1 Thes. 1:9. And Christ “a Son.” Matt. 27:54; Mark 12:35, 15:32; Jn. 6:19; Rev. 1:1, 14:14. And call Christ “Son of man” instead of “Son of God” in Jn. 9:38. Also, “a Savior”, Mark 2:17; Acts 27:23; Phil. 3:20.

23. They try to separate Christ from salvation, Mark 9:42; Jn. 3:15, 6:47; Acts 22:10,16; Rom. 15:29; Gal. 6:15; Eph. 1:10,13. They remove references to His blood, Rom. 3:25; Matt. 27:4; Luke 22:20; Col. 1:14; Rev. 1:5, and they remove references to His suffering, Matt. 8:17, 1 Cor. 11:24; 1 Pet. 3:18.

24. They substitute “age” (New Age), for “world” Matt. 12:32; Mark 10:30; Luke 18:30, 20:35; Gal. 1:4; Eph. 1:21; Tit. 2:12; Rev. 13:3. They also imply progressive ages, Luke 1:70; Jn. 9:32; Act 3:21, 15:18; Rom. 16:25; Eph. 3:9. 2 Tim. 1:9; Tit. 1:2.

25. They render all Old Testament references to “hell” as “grave,” “death,” or “sheol.” They also remove “everlasting” from punishment, Matt. 18:8, 25:41,46; Luke 16:9; 2 Thes. 1:9, Jude 6.

26. They strip Christ of divine titles, Acts 2:30; Rom. 14:10-14; 1 Cor. 5:4, 10:9, 16:22; 1 Jn. 3:16; Jude 4; Rev 1:11.

27. They won’t allow Christ to be worshipped, Matt. 8:2, 9:18, 15:25, 18:26, 20:20; Mark 5:6; etc. (NASV). Yet this version translates the same Greek word “worship” in Rev. 9:20 and 13:4!

28. They refer to Christ as “the Christ,” implying Jesus and “the Christ” are distinguishable, Matt. 1:17, 2:4, 22:42, 24:5,23; Mark 12:35; Luke 4:41, 20:41, 23:35,39, 24:26,46; Jn. 1:25, 7:27; Acts 2:31; Rom. 9:5; etc.

29. They substitute “teacher” for “master” Matt. 8:19, 17:24, 23:8; etc. (24 more times). And they will not endure “sound doctrine” (2 Tim. 4:3), replacing “doctrine” with “teaching,” Matt. 7:28, 15:9, 16:12, 22:33; etc. (29 more times).

30. They attack Christ’s deity, Matt. 19:16-17; Luke 2:33, Jn. 1:18; Acts 4:27; Phil. 2:6; 1 Tim. 3:16; 1 Jn. 5:7; etc.

31. They remove “Christ” from many passages or demean Him in other ways, Matt. 1:25; Mark 1:1; Luke 4:4, 9:35; Acts 3:13, 26, 4:27, 30, 8:37, 15:11, 16:31; 1 Cor. 5:4, 16:23; Gal. 4:7; Eph. 3:9, 14; Col. 1:2; 1 John 4:3; Jude 25; Rev. 3:14 (NASV, “beginning” capitalized, making it a proper name).

32. They refuse to call Christ “Lord,” Matt. 24:45, 25:18,21; Mark 9:24, 10:51,52 Luke 9:57, 12:45-47, 23:42; 1 Cor. 15:47, 2 Cor. 4:10; 1 Tim. 5:21; 2 Tim. 4:1; Titus 1:4; 2 Jn. 1:3, and refuse to call Him the “Son of God,” John 6:69, 9:35; Acts 8:37.

33. They teach Christ was created, Pro. 8:22; Mic. 5:2; Rev. 3:14, and refuse to allow Him to be Creator, Eph. 3:9. They also remove “only begotten Son” allowing God to have other sons

identical to Christ, and call Christ “the only begotten God” (NASV, Jn. 1:18) allowing Him to be one of a group of New Age “begotten gods.”

34. They cast doubt on Christ’s resurrection, Luke 24:6,7,12,36,40,51,52; Acts 1:3, Eph. 5:30. And also His ascension, Mark 16:9-20; Luke 24:51-52; Jn. 3:13, 16:16; 1 Tim. 3:16.

35. They make Christ out to be a sinner, Matt. 5:22 with Mark 3:5 and Jn. 2:15; also Heb. 5:2, and deny His eternality, John 1:18; Rev. 1:8, 1:11, 5:14, 11:17, 16:5.

36. They remove references to the second coming of Christ, Matt. 25:13; Phil. 4:5; 2 Thes. 3:5; 2 Tim. 4:1; Rev. 7:15.

37. They deny the “Godhead” and Trinity, Acts 17:29; Rom. 1:20; Col. 2:9; 1 Jn. 5:7.

38. They eliminate every reference to “Jehovah,” Gen. 22:14; Ex. 6:3, 17:15; Judg. 6:24; Psa. 83:18; Isa. 12:2, 26:4.

39. They refuse to call the “Holy Spirit” “holy”, Matt. 12:31; Jn. 7:39; Acts 6:3, 8:18; Rom. 15:19. See also Acts 11:17, 19:2.

40. They omit or strongly question many verses, Matt. 17:21, 18:11, 23:14; Mark 7:16, 9:44,46; 11:26, 15:28, 16:9-20; Luke 17:36, 23:17; John 5:3-4, 7:53-8:11; Acts 8:37, 15:34, 24:7, 28:29, Rom. 16:24. And many other parts of verses, Matt. 6:13, 9:14, 11:23, 15:8, 16:3, 19:9, 29:7, 20:16,22, 25:13, 27:35, etc.
