Position Summary: Assists in all aspects of Marketing Department operations, including support, development, and distribution of marketing and sales materials.

Essential Functions:

• Assists Marketing Director in planning, developing, and implementing the organization’s marketing strategies.

• Maintains company website; writes weekly blog and maintains social networking sites.

• Develops and prepares marketing collateral such as brochures, flyers and mailers.

• Writes and/or edits copy for marketing projects such as publications, press releases, advertisements, etc.

• Coordinates advertising placement and schedules.

• Conducts marketing research.

• Coordinates events and meetings as needed.

• Maintains marketing database.

• Coordinates department activities with vendors (designers, printers, mailing service, etc.).

• Provide project status updates as required.

• Maintain neat, orderly work area.

• Adheres to company attendance/tardy policies. Attendance is an essential function of this position.

Nonessential Functions:

• Delivers and/or picks up marketing materials from printers, etc.

• Assists with training new personnel as needed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Displays a professional appearance and manner when interacting with management, peers, vendors, and the general public.

• Demonstrates excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

• Must have exceptional creative writing skills.

• Must demonstrate keen attention to detail.

• Ability to work quickly while maintaining attention to detail.

• Ability to work well in a fast-paced, demanding environment.

• Must be self-motivated and demonstrate initiative to complete duties with moderate supervision.

• Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions.

• Ability to operate a computer and general office equipment.

• Knowledge of Microsoft Windows/Office and ability to learn and use various software programs.

Education and Training:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or related field.

• Prior marketing, sales, or promotional experience preferred.

• Prefer knowledge of graphic design software programs, such as Publisher, Quark, Photoshop, etc.

Special Position Requirements:

• Work hours may vary as business needs dictate.

• Occasional work may be required on weekends, evenings, or holidays.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

The Marketing Assistant position will have an assigned workstation, telephone, and computer. Position requires sitting for extended periods of time. Occasionally requires standing, squatting, reaching and bending. Requires ability to communicate with others in-person and on telephone. Manual dexterity needed for using computer keyboard. Occasionally requires standing, walking, reaching and bending. Must have adequate vision to operate computer and complete paperwork. May require occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs. Must be able and willing to work flexible hours to meet organization’s needs.
