Mainly weekdays with some evening and weekend hours.Job purposeTo support the Concert Hall Manager in the management and day to day operation of Turner Sims Southampton, deputising as required. To lead on venue operations, health and safety and compliance (ensuring a covid-19 safe environment), providing direction and motivation for the team.To work with the Concert Hall Manager to manage all aspects of finance, drive income generation and to support the organisation in achieving its fundraising targets. To nurture and manage relationships with internal university and external stakeholders and partners. To support the Concert Hall Manager and Turner Sims Strategic Board with the ongoing development and future success of the organisation, including: public engagement, delivery of new projects, outreach activity and venue promotion.Key accountabilities/primary responsibilities% TimeOperational management: to lead on the operational running of the venue including line management of staff, evaluating and improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the operation, managing, monitoring and reporting on operating budgets and resources, and maintaining income through venue hire. To lead on aspects of operational development and building maintenance. Working with the Concert Hall Manager and Associate Director, Arts and Culture – to drive forward and oversee the install of a new LED stage lighting system, manage the tendering process, recruit a contractor and oversee the installation and promotion of the system’s availability. 60Marketing and Communications: to work with the Concert Hall Manager in planning and developing marketing activities to increase in-person and digital engagement. To lead on the management and development of internal and external communication processes.15Compliance: to ensure compliance with legal responsibilities, keeping the staff and board updated on your progress. 10Customer Care: to oversee and develop Box Office services. To maintain the high standard of customer care and liaison required to manage relationships with artists, hirers, Turner Sims Friends members and the general public at all times. To respond to endorsements and complaints. 10Event management: To lead on the development and delivery of strategic partnership events and act as Front of House Manager for events as required. As a key-holder for the building, you will have responsibility for opening / closing the venue and responding to emergency call outs.5Any other duties as allocated by the line manager following consultation with the post holder.Internal and external relationships Internal Turner Sims staff. Understanding of how the specialist/professional services provided by the post-holder support the objectives of the University.
