The Project involves creative engagement with rural churches and their communities in order to promote church growth and sustainability. GtRC engages with many rural communities across Devon and increases community involvement in the life of the church, thereby enhancing mission and resulting in long-term innovative and sustainable solutions for rural churches. The project commenced in early 2017 and will last for a period of seven years. ?1M of funding has been obtained from the Church Commissioners with a further ?0.8M of funding being committed by the Diocese. This is an innovative and exciting project and the project learning will help inform other dioceses and the national church.The Project Support Officer will provide support to the GtRC Project Manager and Project Officer as they assist rural churches to partner with their communities and external agencies to find sustainable missional, community, commercial or cultural uses for their buildings. This is a hugely exciting opportunity for an individual with experience in supporting project delivery, and who wishes to further develop their project management skills.Key Working Relationships???The GtRC Project Manager and Project Officer???The wider Diocesan Staff team in particular, Mission Community Development Advisers, Mission and Pastoral Secretary, Property Officers, Communications Team and Consultant Mission Enablers.??The Archdeacons of Barnstaple, Exeter, Plymouth and Totnes??Mission Communities, PCCs and their priests??Parish Councils, local communities and their representatives??External agencies and partnersResponsibilities and AccountabilitiesProject SupportThe Project Support Officer will play a key role in supporting projects which increase the sustainability of our rural churches. With the GtRC team and Diocesan officers, the Project Support Officer will:support the development of relationships with individuals, local groups and agencies, to understand community needs and the potential of rural church buildings to be used for missional, community, cultural and commercial purposesassist with community research, analysis and consultationsupport the delivery of creative solutions with community organisations and businesses to secure the viability of rural churchesmonitor the ongoing co-ordination with clergy, PCCs, communities, volunteers and key staff, to track progress of initiatives and success against evaluation metricsdevelop the knowledge and skills to assist the GtRC team in providing practical information on availability and suitability of grants, and assisting volunteers in the preparation and submission of applicationsRelationships and CommunicationThe Project Support Officer will build strong relationships with both internal stakeholders and external partners, and will work with the GtRC team to communicate the GtRC’s aims and success in achieving these. They will:Build strong relationships with Diocesan Officers and external partners to support the delivery of the projectSupport the delivery of GtRC’s Communication Strategy through contributing to content on GtRC’s webpages and social media outletsTake a lead in organising events and training courses offered by the GtRC teamSupporting the development of tools and publicity materials for community consultationsMonitoring and AdministrationThe Project Support Officer will support the GtRC team to deliver an effective service, and support the efficient and appropriate use of information and data by the GtRC team.
