THE OFFICIAL PUBLICATION OF THE OHIO TENNIS COACHES ...

Winter 2019-2020

Coaches,

First of all, I would like to thank all of you for another year of coaching tennis in OHIO. Without all of you, your energy, and positive influence on the young adults in your programs, high school tennis would not be a success. SO, a big THANK-YOU from the OTCA board.

Hope those of you that coached a girls' team in the Fall, have had time to rest up. Also, hope you are already planning for the upcoming Boys season and preparing your team members with a Winter plan to advance their games. With the USTA (1 day) showdowns, Jr. Team Tennis, Indoor Club team drills, and USTA High school options being added all the time, it is part of our job to map out a plan for our players during the off season.

Congratulations, to the coaches that advanced their teams this Fall to the OTCA State Team Tournament finals. In Division I, Mason (Mike Reid), Upper Arlington (Shaun Stamps), Magnificat (Chris Johnson) and Notre Dame Academy (Kim Pacella) all competed on Oct 20th with Mason winning the championship. In Division II, Indian Hill (Gary Samuels), Columbus Academy (Tommy Haddow), Hathaway Brown (Greg Aten) and Toledo Central Catholic (Lisa Bialorucki) played off with Hathaway Brown winning the final.

Please don't forget to register your team on the OTCA.us website for the Boys OTCA tournament, before the 1st day of the OTCA clinic March 1st (noon) deadline.

Speaking of the OTCA Clinic (2/29-3/2) at the Marriott NW in Dublin. We are excited to add a USPTA specialty course to the clinic on Saturday night (2/29) from 5:00-9:00 pm, followed with an OTCA coaches round table /networking social to kick off the weekend.

Please visit the OTCA website and take advantage of the information there. Continue to give us feedback on ways we can make this site more beneficial to you and your coaching staff. We are always trying to add to the site and would love to hear from you, if there are additional benefits, we can add to help make your life easier.

Finally, the OTCA Board would like to wish all of you a wonderful holiday season. We appreciate your membership very much and would love any feedback as to ways we can continue to work to make high school tennis better in Ohio. We hope you take advantage of the specialty course and the seminars at this year's clinic. We would love to see you all of you at the Marriott (2/29-3/2) so please go on the website and register your staff and book a room at the Marriott (breakfast included again) and join us. Happy Thanksgiving!

Sincerely,

Greg Aten, OTCA President
