MULTI-STEP MATH WORD PROBLEM TASK CARDS - Minds in Bloom

[Pages:47] MULTI-STEP MATH WORD PROBLEM TASK CARDS

Each of these 32 Math Challenge Task Cards has a different multi-step math word problem. Students will need to use all four operations as they solve the problems. Plus, there are some cards that involve money, measurement, or elapsed time. A student Answer Sheet is included, as well as an Answer Key so students can check their work. You may want to have students show their work on notebook paper and staple their papers to the Answer Sheet. Alternatively, you can use the included half-page Answer Sheet which has enough space for students to show their work for an individual card. In addition, you will find a Challenge Card that can be used with any other card in the set. This card asks students to come up with an expression (an equation) that can be used to solve the problem featured on their card.

These cards will work well at centers or stations, for partner work or for individual use, and even as homework assignments. Print this set out in color. For black and white printing, please use the included black line version. If you are printing in black and white, consider printing on colored paper. Simply print and cut along the guidelines. Laminate and use them again and again. Alternatively, you could print on cardstock. It works well to keep them in a baggie. Another option is to hole-punch a corner of each card and put them all on a ring. A Cover Card for the set is also included.

Several Common Core Standards that deal with basic computation are addressed in these cards, but the product is most aligned with this standard:

CCSS.Math.Content.4.OA.A.3 Solve multistep word problems posed with whole numbers and having whole-number answers using the four operations, including problems in which remainders must be interpreted. Represent these problems using equations with a letter standing for the unknown quantity. Assess the reasonableness of answers using mental computation and estimation strategies including rounding.

This is Set 2 and is aimed for students in grades 4-6. If you'd like a less challenging set of multi-step word problem task cards (grades 3-4), you can find it in my TpT store.
