This replicates a similar timetable to school; however, these circumstances are very different to being at school. If this does not work for your child, then do not use it. It is simply here if anyone feels they can benefit from it or use it as inspiration for your own ‘timetable’ should you need or want one.Planning for Literacy and Maths would usually cover one week, occasionally through two. If you choose to do some maths work, I would recommend doing one thing in lots of different ways for the learning to have the most impact. For example, if the focus was addition and subtraction – 1. count pictures, cross out pictures. 2. Use cubes or objects to add and subtract. 3. Use a number line to jump forwards and backwards. 4. Have a go at a challenge to try and prove how they know the answer is correct. 5. Look at number sentences and workout the answers. TWINKL is free to use using UKTWINKLHELPS code. This is a brilliant resource and worth signing up for free as soon as possible. There are over 600,000 resources. Type in Year 1 in the search bar to start. lessons also follow a similar pattern. Each lesson starts with a recap of the sounds they know so far, you can use , log in march20 and password – home. Click ‘resources’ and ‘flash cards, speed trial’ followed by Buried Treasure, Dragons Den or Picnic on Pluto to apply the chosen sound. We would then practise writing a few words including the chosen sound, and finally finish by reading or writing a sentence, focusing on the sound for the day. Our topic for this term was ‘Dinosaurs’. Pre-learningIn the homework grid, you should have already done some pre-learning to this topic, including:Researching and finding out where dinosaur fossils have been found Choosing a dinosaur and writing five fascinating facts about them Finding out about carnivorous and herbivorous dinosaursFinding out which dinosaurs were the heaviest, smallest, fastest and tallest.Creating dinosaur picturesCreating a dinosaur maskAnd many more. If you need reminding of the different dinosaurs after the Easter break, have a look through Twinkl’s powerpoint to remind you about the different dinosaur names. The Natural History Museum also has some fascinating dinosaur based activities that you could look at: : Dinosaurs in Africa. There were many dinosaurs who were unique to Africa. Find out which dinosaurs lived in which parts of Africa. Visit for the full list of dinosaurs that live in the different African countries. Use digimaps to find the different countries in Africa. Can you locate them on a map of Africa?History: Visit and play Dinosaur Discovery, collecting the dinosaur teeth when you complete the games. Can you make two separate fact files about the Cretaceous and Jurassic periods. Please draw, collage and write about the dinosaurs that lived in each period. You can use the information from the Dinosaur Discovery game as well as and . Which period came first? Design and Technology: Using paper and sticks or straws, could you create some shadow puppet dinosaurs and send us a picture of the shadows you have made using your puppets and a light source. You could make more than one shadow puppet and film a display of the dinosaurs in action! You will need to think about the resources you need to make your shadow puppets. How are you going to make your dinosaurs look more realistic? Art: You will have seen a lot of dinosaurs in your learning and we would like you to draw and then colour with a media of your choice (paints, pastels, crayons, felt pens etc) your favourite dinosaur in action. We would love to see these, so please send them to us on the email pipits@brickhillprimary.co.uk and can display them on our class page. Click ‘Launch App’ and off you go.Music: Last term, you may remember learning about the musical notes: quaver, crotchet and minim. Visit youtube to revisit our learning and watch these videos again, clicking on the links below:Crotchets- Quavers- Please practise playing these notes with a saucepan and a spoon, or clapping with your hands. Draw the notes on paper and explain what the features of the notes are.Moving the learning on: Draw up to six musical notes in a row. Can you begin by reading the names of the notes? Then could you tell your parent or guardian how many beats each note in your row is worth. Lastly, can you play your six notes with your saucepan and spoon?
