Year 7 MATHS

Year 7 MATHS

Overall Intent:

Our aim is that students should recognise the importance, power and beauty of maths. They will secure a sound understanding of number and number operations, be able to recall key facts and calculate accurately and fluently with understanding. They will develop deep conceptual understanding of all areas of the curriculum with repeated practice to build key knowledge and skills. They will be able to solve problems by exploring, questioning and trialling, making links to other areas of maths. They will learn how to reason mathematically by exploring, justifying, convincing and making generalisations. We want students to appreciate that Maths is essential to everyday life, future study, financial literacy, employment. We ensure that students' prior attainment in Maths is considered, so that lessons can be designed in the most appropriate way for each individual's needs.
