Introduce and explain our new ambitious vocabulary – petrified, exquisite, capture, gloomy.Model writing speech bubbles for some of the different characters using a grapheme chart to support – this will form the basis of the independent writing activity (Set in Monday Literacy Assignment, Teams)Maths – One more/one less – Using feely bag, pull out a number 0-20, pupils to use their number cards to show ‘one more’ or ‘one less’ as specified by the teacher.Explain that we will be thinking all about odd and even numbers this week – direct the children to watch the Odds and Evens episode of Numberblocks and explain independent activity – odd and even Numberlings, look at each Numberling count their blocks and try to decide if they are odd or even. Discuss and draw out the teaching points - an odd number is an even number plus one, an even number comes after an odd number when counting, an odd number comes after an even number when counting. Use the Numberling cards (saved in this week Files, Teams) or your Numberblocks fan to look at each of the Numberlings and decide if they are odd or even. Model independent activity – draw and label what you would take on a bear hunt! We would like you to find out about one type of bear and create a poster or mini display on what you find out!Children to find out about one type of bear. Find out at least five facts about your chosen bear and also do a picture of it. Where does it live? What does it like to eat? Find out some interesting things about your bear that you didn’t already know. Divide a large sheet of paper into two halves. Make a poster showing odd numbers on one side and even numbers on the other side – can you write the numerals to match?
