April 15, 2020And Jesus came and spake unto them saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.Go ye therefore and teach all nations baptizing them inThe name of the Father and of the Son and of the HolyGhost: teaching them to observe all things whatsoeverI have commanded you, and lo, I am with you always untoThe end of the world. Amen Matthew 28:16-20 KJVThere is no denying it we are in an unsettling season. In this very moment in history, a pandemic has caused world leaders to come together with one focus in mind: defeating our common enemy—COVID-19. During this time every nation is seeking to learn what others know to help slow the rate of infections and decrease deaths worldwide. We are all concerned about finding a cure, a vaccine or discovering a new drug to help us rise above our shared current reality. As we are sheltering in place, some of us are climbing walls trying to adjust to a new normal. Listed below are a couple of coping skills that I hope will bring comfort to you and help with enduring the isolation.Every day find something to celebrate that you can share with others.--Celebrate that God is using social media to empower theChurch to be a meaningful tool to gather and encourage the heartsof God’s people.--Celebrate that God’s timeless Words speak to this current season, bringing us assurance. We are not alone because God is with us.Every day remember the Omnipresence of God: God is everywhere, in our hearts and in our homes.--God shelters –in-place with us.--God is hovering with God’s people.God has promised that He will be with us always and therefore we have nothing to fear. A familiar hymn of the Church says: He promised never to leave me, never to leave me alone.Did you know that while we are busy sheltering in place our Church leaders are busy working to move us forward? Thanks to technology our Deacons have selected three Deacons to serve on our pulpit search committee: Deacon Quintero Haygood, Deacon Sanford Kirksey and Deacon Johnny Stone. Our Trustees have also selected two Trustees to serve on the pulpit search committee: Brother Larry Bennett and Sister Bonita Layson. In keeping with our by-laws, the Official Board is working on a way for you, the congregation to select four (4) members to serve on the pulpit search committee. As soon as the details are developed, they will be communicated to you.Did you know that we are continuing to communicate with our children and their parents during this time? We are developing a plan to allow our children to continue their Christian growth on a level that they understand. Please continue to pray for those who are sick, shut-in and in nursing homes/care centers. I have attached a list of our sick and shut-in members as well as those that are in the nursing homes. Please remember that you cannot visit the nursing homes during this time. Just pray that all the residents will remain safe.Thank you for remembering to support your church financially while we are sheltering in place. As a reminder you have the choice to stop by the church on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to drop off your tithes and offerings. You still have the ability to use Givelify and of course your checks are still welcomed and accepted. Place your check (no cash) in a secure envelop and mail to:Mt. In the words of the Psalmist: If you make the Most High your dwelling—even the Lord who is my refuge—then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent. (Psalm 91:9-10 NIV)During this time of isolation, we are not alone! God is with us, and we have each other as members of the Body of Christ. In His ServiceRev. Patricia Stone ................
