What did people find?-Planning Guide-Discussion guide-ACES connection-Models from DHSDiscussed how we start building toward Trauma Informed Community. First, coalition members should have a background in ACES/TIC. Discussed the possibility of having shorter options. Mental Health 1st Aid: Katie is a trained facilitator and could provide trainings in Monroe County.Support groups/peer support. Maretta asked for resources to help BGC members who are struggling with their mental health such as support groups. Katie gave information about the peer support services available at Independent Living Resources (ILR). Also discussed parent peer support. La Crosse, Sparta, and Tomah would like to have parent peer support staff, but don’t currently have funding. Funding would be needed to support 2 full-time positions.WRAP (wellness recovery action plan) is an evidence-based process for that helps individuals create personal plans to help them get through life’s challenges. Sierra is trained as a group facilitator, and Katie is trained at facilitating one-on-one planning. Can also be used as a support group or a one-time multi-day training. Discussed that this would be great to use at Boys and Girls Club, with youth, and also with various agencies. Discussed that further down the road, we could write a grant proposal to support having more trainings/training on a community-level.
