School Improvement Council Report - Anna Jarvis Elementary School – Anita Hornor

Faculty Senate Report - Anna Jarvis Elementary School – Sue Montgomery

GHS softball field - Rocky Loughry – Mr. Loughry requested permission to make improvements to the GHS softball field which include improving drainage and installing bleachers. The board directed Superintendent Reynolds to work with the athletic director and bring the recommendations to the board at the November 6, 2006, meeting.

The board took a five minute recess.

GHS field trip request - Eva Robinson-Willa Jo Mitchell-John Taylor – The board was provided with answers to various questions regarding the trip.

MINUTES

The superintendent respectfully requested approval of the minutes for the regular meeting on October 10, 2006.

AGREEMENTS

2044 The superintendent respectfully requested approval of a contractual agreement with Crystal Musgrove for services as parent involvement activities coordinator at Anna Jarvis Elementary School to be paid at a rate of $9.00 per hour. Effective October 26, 2006. Funding source: Title I.

2045 The superintendent respectfully requested approval of a contractual agreement with Kelly Marshall for services as parent involvement activities coordinator at Flemington Elementary School to be paid at a rate of $9.00 per hour. Effective October 26, 2006. Funding source: Title I.

BIDS

2046 The superintendent respectfully requested approval of the bid from Martin’s Turf Care of $5,800.00 to renovate TCMS football field. This includes fall, early spring and April 2007, work and treatments.

The superintendent respectfully requested approval of all items in the 2000 series.

07-04-3000 CONSENT CALENDAR

PURCHASE ORDERS – The superintendent respectfully requested approval of the following purchase orders:

3082 Dell Computers in the amount of $4,763.25 for two laptops; one for the Title I director and one to be placed in the Mary Battle Studio for training sessions. Funding Source Title I

3083 CTB McGraw/Hill in the amount of $2,896.00 for third and fourth grade test booklets. Funding Source: Testing Allocation

3084 Tetrick and Bartlett, PLLC in the amount of $3,000.00 for performance of individual school audits for the 2005-2006 school year financials. Funding Source: General Current

3085 Chalfant & Sons in the amount of $5,350.00 for 535 tons of topsoil for TCMS football field (150) and TCMS softball field (385).

POLLING PLACES-GENERAL ELECTION

3086 The superintendent respectfully requested approval for the Taylor County Commission to use the following schools for polling places for the general election to be held on November 7, 2006: Anna Jarvis Elementary, Flemington Elementary West Taylor Elementary, Taylor County Middle, and Grafton High School.

OUT OF STATE PROFESSIONAL LEAVE

3087 John Stallings, Carolyn Harrison, Suzann Murphy, Kay Boyles, Kathy Green, Linda Sharp, and Debra Spadafore requested permission to attend the National Title I Conference in Los Angeles, CA, on January 25-31, 2007. The participants will identify current scientific research-based best practices in order to assist in selecting appropriate professional development for the 4th Annual Taylor County Achieves Summer Academy. This is in accordance with No Child Left Behind and the Taylor County 5-Year Strategic Plan which require ongoing sustained professional development. Funding Source: Title I

OUT OF STATE FIELD TRIPS

3088 Willa Jo Mitchell and Eva Robinson requested permission to take approximately eighty Grafton High School students to Washington, DC, and Baltimore, MD, on April 20-22, 2007. The trip focuses on the content areas of science and history. One day of instruction will be missed. Chaperones for the trip will be Eva Robinson, Willa Jo Mitchell, John Taylor, Bette Garrett, Crystal Morris, Alan DePiano, Donna Hage, and Amy Bord. Funding Source: Students and chaperones taking the trip. The board would be responsible for eight days of substitute costs

REQUESTS TO USE FACILITIES

3089 Ronald Keith Andrews, with the Taylor County 4-H, requested permission to use the dining hall and auditorium at Taylor County Middle School on November 10, 2006, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. for a Taylor County 4-H achievement dinner.
