Evaluation and Assignments: You will be evaluated based on your points accumulated throughout the term, achievement of the course goals, and the following criteria:

|Class work (audio or video activities, cooperation, dedication, interest, lab activities, preparation and quality of the activities or assignments | |

|-completed before the student leaves the class-, quizzes -of smaller parts of an unit-, special contribution, spoken language activities, workbook | |

|activities, group work, etc.) | |

| |80% |

|Attendance and participation | |

|Homework and projects | |

|Assessments (One quiz for each chapter covered and an average of these ones as test for each 9 weeks-period) | |

|Final exam (It will include written and listen-comprehension components.) |20% |

|TOTAL |100% |

▪ Written and/or study assignments will be given each class. The academic time is not enough time to learn a language; therefore, preparation and practice are necessary outside of class. Homework is to be turned in the day it is due and it is due upon entering class. While correcting homework in class, corrections must be written on the assignment. Collaborating on homework is permitted; but, copying homework is cheating and will result in grade of zero (0) for all parties involved.

▪ No late work will be accepted and there are no make-ups. Any late work/assignment will result in a percentage deduction from your final grade. If you are absent the day of an exam, test, quiz, check up of homework or composition, laboratory activity, oral presentation (dialogue, report) or interview, or any other activity with grade, you will receive a “0” on that assignment; unless, a verifiable absence with justified cause (as personal illness or accident, personal court appearance, death in the family, religious holidays regularly observed by the student, extenuating circumstances as approved by the school administration, etc.). You must show the veracity of your justified absence by signed original written note from your parents or guardian, providing reasons, dates, and with a phone number of contact. This written excuse must neither present crossing outs nor amendments). After an absence (ex. suspension, truancy, etc.), assignments are due the day the student returns to class. An absence, excused or unexcused, does not justify the ignorance of an assigned homework or activity.

▪ Students that have a scheduled absence (such as participating in field trips, sports trip, athletic events, student government activities, family trip, and other functions sanctioned by the school), authorized and verify, may receive the work prior to their departure and are considered and marked present. If you have verifiable justified absence (deemed acceptable), you will be expected to make arrangements with me in order to make up any missed assignments or late work into an appropriate due date. If you, subsequently, do not make up your assignment within of the due date, agreed with me, will receive a zero (0).

|Grading Scale |92-100 = A |83-91 = B |74-82 = C |65–73 = D |0–64 = F |

|(RPS): |(excellent/ outstanding |(above average/very good/ |(average/acceptable) |(below average/ minimum |(failure/ unsatisfactory|

| |achievement) |commendable achievement) | |achievement) |progress) |

RPS operates on a four nine-week grading system. The student will also receive a progress (interim) report at the mid-point of the first and third nine-week periods. Interim reports provide an indication of student’s progress prior to Grade Report Cards being issued.

Classroom Rules/Expectations: Students are expected to arrive with a positive attitude and observe the following guidelines:

▪ Be on time with the schedule and the bell ring, enter quietly, and sit in your assigned seat each class. You must have a note if you are late, and you must remain in your seat unless instructed otherwise. Regular attendance is expected.

▪ Bring the agenda, all books, assignments, and materials to each class (this includes your textbook, workbook, proper bilingual dictionary, writing instruments –pens and pencils-, 1 inch 3-ring binder with loose leaf paper and four dividers –class work, homework, quizzes and tests, and language information-, and other proper supplies). Be seated with all materials and supplies when class begins. The textbook and workbook are provided for you. The textbook will remain in the classroom, but you may sign one out as needed. If you lose this book while it is in your care, you and your parents will be financially responsibility for it.

▪ Be responsible and complete all homework assignments prior to class.

▪ Be alert, follow directions, cooperate, and participate along with the class during all activities.

▪ Make an effort to do all assignment with accuracy, completeness, and thoroughness; and turn them in on time. Save all works.

▪ If you have a comment or question, please raise a hand to be recognized and for permission before speaking.

▪ Be quiet and listen when and while someone else or others are taking.

▪ Have the responsibility for being aware of, and respecting the fundamental rights of the people (we will have fun in here, but not at the expense of others). Respect each other’s opinions, space, and belongings. Do not touch and take the property of others without authorization. Demonstrate respect, human values, and education.

▪ Inappropriate behavior and abusive or foul language will not be tolerated.

▪ Cell phones, walkmans, and pager are not permitted in class.

▪ Refrain from consuming any food or beverage during class. Also, no sleeping and smoking in class.

▪ Treat school property & the environment with respect. Return all supplies to where you got them and clean up own trash from any activity.

▪ Use pen for written quizzes, tests, exams, or works with grade.

▪ No cheating and plagiarism will be tolerated; such as: copying or sharing homework, snapshot activities, and journal entries; copying quiz or test answers, or giving someone the answers; talking during any assessment, writing anything that is not your own words; giving credit for ideas that are not your own. Any student caught cheating will receive a zero and your parents will be notified.

▪ The instructor is who dismisses the class, not the bell.

▪ Nobody is allowed to leave during the first and last fifteen minutes of class.

▪ Participate in the development and observance of all applicable standards of conduct (See your Student Handbook). Keep good attendance, punctuality, discipline, treat and respect.
