1. Situation. To establish policies and procedures pertaining to the Marine Corps Education Program and to identify programs included under Marine Corps Voluntary Education.

2. Cancellation. AirStaO 1560.25.

3. Mission. The mission of the Marine Corps Air Station, Cherry Point Marine Corps Education Program is to provide a broad range of personal and professional learning opportunities, to improve the competence of active duty Marines, to assist in their career progression, and to improve the Quality of Life based on the needs of the entire Cherry Point Community.

4. Execution

a. Commander's Intent and Concept of Operations

(1) Commander's Intent. To ensure that all active duty military, family members and DoD civilians in the Cherry Point area are aware of any and all educational opportunities available per reference (a).

(2) Concept of Operations

a. Commanding Officers will inform personnel of their commands of any and all educational opportunities as outlined in this Order.

b. Per the reference, a comprehensive education program has been established to provide educational opportunities to include high school completion, GED testing Vocational/ Technical Certificates, Associate, Bachelor, and Graduate degree programs, Tuition Assistance, College Level Testing,

Apprenticeship Enrollment, Military Academic Skills Program, Deployed Education Services, and General Library Support.

c. Policies and procedures, as outlined in the reference, are consistent throughout the Marine Corps. The percent of total cost paid by tuition assistance is established annually by CMC (MRV) , published via MARADMIN, and funded to a fiscal year maximum per individual.

d. The Education Officer will be responsible for the daily operations, maintaining and scheduling a variety of tests, and ensuring that current Memorandums of Understanding with each educational institution are maintained.

e. A consolidated graduation ceremony will be conducted each year and supported by the Command and schools to recognize service members, family members and civilians who have completed a degree program.

f. The Education Office, located in the Jerry W. Marvel Training and Education Facility, Bldg 4335, is responsible for the administration and execution of the Marine Corps Education Program (also known as the Marine Corps Voluntary Education Program) .

5. Administration and Logistics. This Order is available electronically via the Station Adjutant section of the MCAS homepage at .

a. Command. This Order is applicable to the Marines, Sailors, and civilian employees aboard Cherry Point.

b. Signal. This Order is effective the date signed.
