If You Really Knew Me…

If You Really Knew Me…

Name: _________________________________________________________________

Date: _____________________________ Class/Period: _________________________

Part I:

Each student will be given a minimum of 2 minutes to answer the question repeatedly. Each student uses their turn to complete the sentence, “If you really knew me, you would know...” as many times as they can in their allotted time. Use your composition book to write down what you want to say to the class/group. Use this as a pre-write so that you can better articulate your feelings. This will not be graded based on conventional grammar rules. Effort is the key for this writing prompt.

“If you really knew me, you would know...”

We are all important to this class. We all have issues, fears, joys and baggage of junk we bring in the door every day! We will respect each other. It takes each person in this classroom to make it a class. Remember that and value your fellow students.

Part II:

“A picture is worth a thousand words.” Yet, a few words can open up the eyes to a world unseen. It may have been rough/hard for you to share things with your fellow classmates. You are going to take the above prompt and now write a letter to me. I want to really know you. I will not share the contents of this letter with other students or teachers. This will be graded for sentence fluency, adhering to the basic letter structure and length. There are no right responses just yours.

Discussion Questions and Summation

Notice – Choose – Act

If there is anything about your life, yourself, your relationships or your school that you would like to change, apply “Challenge Day’s” simple three-step formula for change. WE can all be the change we want to see in the world.

Step One – Notice – Wake Up!

Do you like the ways things are? Are there things about yourself, your life or your school that you’d like to change?

Step Two – Choose – Dream it!

Once you notice, it’s time to choose. In your greatest vision for yourself, your life or your school, how do you want things to be?

Step Three – Act – Do Something!

When your vision is clear and you know what you’d like to change, it’s time to step into action! Have the courage and commitment to be the hero in your own life.
