JOB DESCRIPTIONJob Title:Mechanical Engineer ApprenticeDepartment:Workshop (Maintenance)Group / Team:EngineersResponsible To:Chief EngineerResponsible For:(Total number of staff) -Job Purpose:The Mechanical Engineer Apprentice will undertake an apprenticeship as a mechanical engineer leading to a nationally recognised qualification and accreditation in an Engineering Apprenticeship 4-year Programme.The Mechanical Engineering Apprentice will be responsible for assisting the Engineers in maintaining all machinery, plant and facilities in the Cableway, Luge and Maintenance departments, to the highest standards of safety, presentation and cleanliness.Date:October 2018Organisation ContextKey RelationshipsExternal:Contractors SuppliersTraining ProvidersConsulting Engineers/TradespeopleInternal: HODs Duty Managers/Supervisors Human Resources Maintenance StaffKey Result Areas The position of Mechanical Engineer Apprentice encompasses the following major functions or Key Result Areas:Responsible forAssisting the Engineers/Chief Engineer with the development and implementation of an effective and efficient preventative maintenance programmeAssist with undertaking and managing all maintenance on the cableway, chairlift, cableway terminals and Luge conveyor systemsBe vigilant and attend to any areas requiring repairs or maintenance that are unscheduled as and when requiredUnder direction, complete all documentation relating to maintenance issues in a timely and efficient mannerRegularly update the Chief Engineer on maintenance completed and outstandingAssisting the Engineers/Chief Engineer in the efficient management of the spare parts inventoryUnder direction, ensure that sufficient spare parts are available for the immediate repair of machinery and equipmentUnder direction, to check all workshop/spare part accounts against packing slips and invoices upon arrival of the items prior to forwarding documentation to Administration.Responding to guest and staff queries in an appropriate and timely mannerPromptly respond to guest requests by resolving issues in a timely and efficient mannerAccurately respond to enquiries regarding products on offer, Skyline and RotoruaMaintain an open and approachable communication style, ensuring accurate and timely information is available on operational and staffing issues for the management teamCompleting all tasks, assignments and bookwork associated with your ApprenticeshipUndertake course work in your own time, managing your time effectivelyPass all required course components to complete your Mechanical Engineering ApprenticeshipComplying with all established Workplace Health and Safety policiesTo be responsible for meeting and promoting established Health and Safety Policies and PracticesTo be responsible for the completion of approved Workplace Health and Safety documentationEnsuring delivery of service that supports Skyline’s sustainability goals by:Ensuring recycling and waste management practices are carried out where possibleMaintain your work area to an environmentally acceptable standardMaking suggestions for environmentally sustainable improvementsMaintaining grounds in an environmentally acceptable standardEnsuring weed and pest control is undertaken in an environmentally acceptable standardFinancial ResponsibilitiesControls a budget Y/NMaximum that may be spent without reference to manager $0Can spend unbudgeted capital Y/N.
