Robotics Engineering
Robotics Engineering
Robots use to be just fantasy of science-fiction writer and film makers, but now with the help of modern technology, Robotics Engineering is now a flourishing field of The degree required to work in the field of robotics is in Mechanical Engineering, but what is Mechanical Engineering? Mechanical Engineering is an engineering discipline that uses the application of principles from physics and materials science. Mechanical engineering involves the analysis, design, manufacturing, and maintenance of various systems. Mechanical Engineering is one of the oldest and broadest engineering disciplines. The field requires a solid understanding of core concepts including mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, materials science, and energy.
Mechanical Engineers use the core principles as well as other knowledge in the field to design and analyze manufacturing plants, industrial equipment and machinery, heating and cooling systems, motor vehicles, aircraft, watercraft, robotics, medical devices and more. In order to be a mechanical engineer you need at least a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, on your way you will take courses that will teach about statics and dynamics and other essential to the field Robotics Engineering. The most important of these courses to a Robotics engineer would be mechatronics and which is the combination of different types systems, such as mechanical, electronically, computer, and sensory systems all working together to accomplish a single goal, such as a robots computer reads its sensory systems to control the mechanics and achieve a goal that an engineer has programmed in.
A major question that may come up when entering this field is what exactly is defined as a robot? A robot is usually an electro-mechanical machine that is guided by computer or electronic programming, and is thus able to do tasks on its own. Another common characteristic is that by its appearance or movements, a robot often conveys a sense that it has intent or agency of its own. A robot can be as simple as a single job machine that works automatically on an assemble line or as complex as the ASIMO humanoid robot. There are two major types of humanoid robots the physically anthropomorphic, man-like, which can be as simple as a player piano, and mentally anthropomorphic, which is considered artificial intelligence. Robotics Engineers have made robots for just about any situation that people do not want to do or to aid with a task, such as the Predator, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, which can scout ahead of ground troops to search for hostiles, this is currently in use in the Middle-East by the United States military.
No matter what field of work you are planning to enter a question that will come is how much can you make in a field and the outlook of jobs in the future. According to the Occupational Outlook Handbook the employment of mechanical engineers is around 227,000 with a growth of about four percent over the next decade, slower than average of all occupations. A mechanical engineer will make around $69,850 per year.
