Heat-related Illnesses are based on self-reporting complaints. Complaints are transmitted via the Real-time Outbreak Disease Surveillance (RODS) system from 36 participating hospitals and minor emergency centers throughout Houston, TX. Heat deaths are reported from the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office.
