Learning Outcomes

To build confidence in assessing, diagnosing and treating patient with vulvar complaints.

Educational Objectives

After completing this activity, participants should be better able to:

• Collect a subjective history of the individual with vulvar dysfunction

• Assess the vulva for dermatological disorders

• Identify if a patient should receive a vulvar biopsy

• Implement proper treatment techniques for vulvar dermatoses

• Identify when a patient should receive local or systemic hormones

• Apply a diagnostic algorithm to develop a differential diagnosis for vulvar pain disorders/vulvodynia

• Choose appropriate medications for treatment of vulvar dysfunction

• Identify if a patient is appropriate for physical therapy intervention

Statement of need

This program is designed to update clinicians regarding recent research and clinical outcomes in the areas of recent research and clinical outcomes in the areas of detailed diagnosis and management of vulvar disorders that cause pelvic pain and dyspareunia. Topics will include anatomy, embryology of the vulvovaginal tissue, hormones, differential diagnosis and treatment plans.

Target Audience

This activity is designed for MD’s, DO’s, NP’s, PA’s, PT’s.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint provider-ship of Medical Education Resources (MER) and National Knee Research and Education Foundation. Medical Education Resources is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Credit Designation

Medical Education Resources designates this live activity for a maximum of 8 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
