QUALIFICATIONSHigh school diploma or equivalent - Recent college graduates or applicants considering a career change are welcome to applyExcellent communication skillsDetail OrientedGood computer skills, proficient in keyboarding and data entryKnowledge of medical terminology and anatomy a plusKnowledge of insurance and billing functions a plusPlease see Job Description belowSJRA JOB DESCRIPTION FOR FRONT DESK RECEPTIONIST AND SCHEDULERSUMMARY - To perform all clerical duties necessary to register and process patients so imaging studies can be performed and billed correctlyESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Register patients by collecting/verifying patient demographic information, insurance data and referring physician information as well as meaningful useAchieve accurate and complete data entry of each patientCheck insurance eligibilityCalculate deductibles and coinsurancesCollect and post co-pays, coinsurances and balancesDaily data entry/computer workKeep accurate journal sheets of all payments postedSchedule appointments. Explain studies, procedures and preps to patientsAnswer the telephone, fax reports, request and release imagesContact referring physician offices as neededMaintain confidentiality and comply with all HIPAA and Corporate Compliance regulationsPerform all duties according to company/office policies, procedures and standards of conductMandatory overtime as neededAll other duties as assignedSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES - This position has no supervisory responsibilities.QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalentTraining and ExperiencePrior experience in a medical office preferredKnowledge, Skills and CompetenciesDetail orientedAbility to multitask in a busy work environmentProficient keyboarding and data entry computer skillsKnowledge of office equipment (i.e. copy machine, scanner, fax machine, multiline telephone)Working knowledge of insurance and billing functions a plusKnowledge of medical terminology and anatomy a plusExcellent communication skillsWorking knowledge of RIS/PACS systemAbility to communicate verbally and in writing with patients, their family members and coworkers.Physical Demands of the Position – The position requires sitting for 75% of scheduled shift along with standing, walking, reaching and lifting. Use of a computer keyboard, computer mouse and telephone is required for 80-90% of scheduled shift. Working Conditions – The position is in an indoor office setting in close proximity to coworkers. There is daily interaction with patients, patients’ family members, coworkers and vendors.
