As an essential member of our front office team under the supervision of the Office Manager, this individual will advocate for the patients and assist our clinical staff to ensure that our patients receive the best possible care.Essential ResponsibilitiesGather and verify patient insurance information Assist patients with alternative methods when health insurance is unavailableEnsure that staff is seeing patients as ordered and missed visit notes are written when appropriateReceive and process all incoming referrals via telephone, fax, email & walk-insAdmissions and follow ups accordinglyAccurately documents information and performs data-entryProvides support to include, answering the phones, returning phone messagesCollects deposits and/or co-payments, enters charges according to Sliding Fee Discount Program for services delivered and completes daily charge reconciliation in a timely and accurate manner. Balances cash box at the beginning and end of the day and prepares daily bank depositAssist in resolution of any outstanding issues and/or patient concernsResponsible for scanning medical records into electronic medical record in a timely mannerFollows guidelines and assists in developing procedures to ensure that medical records are in compliance with all state and federal lawsKeeps lobby organized and appropriate information posted and freshOther tasks as assigned and neededExperience, Knowledge and SkillsGood Spanish and English communication skillsWorks well with people from a diverse backgroundCustomer service experience and excellent communication skillsAttention to detail and organizational skillsAbility to handle confidential information and sensitive issuesKnowledge of computer, Word, Excel preferred.Previous experience in related areas (intake, medical office) preferred.?Preferred: Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (BLS) techniquesAbility to analyze difficult situations in mature and confident manner and to act effectively Requires the ability to perform basic math functions and to assemble data into spreadsheet programRequires excellent communication, human relations, attention to detail and organizational skillsKnowledge of community social services and benefits available to patientEducation, Credentials, LicensesMinimum Qualifications: High school graduate or equivalent required; experience working in a medical officePreferred:Associate Degree in office administrationCertified Medical office and Electronic Health Record experience This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee occupying this position.
