SUMMARY OF PRIVACY ACT PROVISIONS

POINT SYSTEM REPORTING PROGRAM

To qualify for LOSAP Coast guard Auxiliary Members must have completed thirty six months (36 months) of membership and service. In addition, USCGAUX members must accrue 50 points per calendar year based on the following Standard Points System.

1. One (1) point shall be credited for each hour of instruction (instructor or aide) in Public Education and / or Member Training as defined in AUXDATA categories 06, 14 and 22c and for Qualification Examiners certifying Coxswains and Crew, AUXDATA Category 07. 35 points maximum.

2. One (1) point shall be credited for each Vessel Safety Check, Commercial Fishing Vessel Examination and / or un-inspected Passenger Vessel Examination. 35 points maximum.

3. One half (1/2) point shall be credited for each Recreational Boating Safety Program Visit (formerly known as MDV). Not more than 25 points may be credited for PVs in a year. (AUXDATA Category 11). 25 points maximum.

4. One (1) point shall be credited for each hour of scheduled marine patrol performed under orders issued by Sector Baltimore or other authorized Coast Guard authority. Not more than 35 points may be credited for patrols in a year. (AUXDATA Categories 01, 02, 03, 22, 30, 31, 32, 33, 54, 55) 35 points maximum.

5. Five (5) points shall be credited for each surface (includes PWC) and air facility offered for use and accepted by the Director of Auxiliary. Two (2) points shall be credited for each radio facility (fixed or mobile) offered for use and accepted by the Director of Auxiliary. 20 points maximum.

6. One (1) point shall be credited for each hour of Public Affairs. Not more than 25 points shall be credited for Public affairs during the calendar year. (AUXDATA Category 10). 25 points maximum.

7. Five (5) points shall be given for completion of each specialty course and / or for each qualification earned. Not more than 20 points shall be credited for this area during a calendar year. 20 points maximum.

8. Twenty-five (25) points shall be credited for completion of one year term as Flotilla Commander or Vice Commander, Division Commander or Vice Commander, District Bridge, and National Bridge. Fifteen (15) points shall be credited for completion of one year term serving as an Immediate past Officer at all levels, and as a appointed staff officer at all levels. Only one office may be counted during the calendar year. 25 points maximum.

9. One (1) point shall be credited for attendance at any official Flotilla, Division, Area District, and National Coast Guard Auxiliary meeting or official committee thereof, or fourth corner stone event. Not more than 25 points shall be credited during a calendar year. (Official Meeting Minutes – Flotilla and Division minutes shall maintain the record of all meetings attended.) 25 points maximum.

10. One (1) point shall be credited for each hour of scheduled Coast Guard Auxiliary Radio Watch Standing during a calendar year. (AUXDATA category 20b) 35 points maximum.

11. One half (1/2) point shall be credited for each hour of collateral duty including but not limited to operational and administrative support. Not more than 25 points shall be credited for collateral duty during the calendar year. (AUXDATA Categories 07, 08, 09, 20, 23, 24, 26, 41, 42, 43, 60, 90, 92, 93) 25 points maximum.

FOR COAST GUARD AUXILIARY DUTIES

CONFIDENTIALITY NOTICE – PRIVACY ACT OF 1974: The disclosure of this material is subject to the provisions contained in the Privacy Act of 1974. This Act, with certain exceptions, prohibits the disclosure, distribution, dissemination, or copying of any material containing the home address, home telephone number, spouse’s names, and social security numbers, except for official business. Violations my result in disciplinary action by the Coast Guard and / or civilian criminal sanctions.

The State of Maryland now allows an individual tax deduction to members of the Coast Guard Auxiliary who perform certain duties each year which cumulatively total a certain number of points under a system which has been approved by the Auxiliary and the Comptroller of the State of Maryland. In order for the member to obtain this tax benefit, the Comptroller requires The Auxiliary to submit certain information concerning the member along with the certification of the member’s having accumulated the requisite number of points.

The member’s Social Security Number is part of this required information. No use shall be made by the Auxiliary for any other purpose than its submission to the State of Maryland for the sole purpose of identifying the member applying for the tax benefit.

If you desire to take advantage of this benefit, you must agree to submit your social security number with the material to be sent to the State of Maryland.
