SELF-GUIDED TOUR

At the University of Memphis, Tiger spirit is everywhere, and you'll feel it right away. On this tour, you'll discover it all. Beautiful buildings. Rich traditions. Innovative resources. Genuine support. We'll start in the heart of campus on Alumni Mall, where you will engage with the Involvement Fair on the first day of class, get free T-shirts during homecoming or hang out with friends between classes. Next, head into the University Center to your right.

PARKING We recommend that guests park in the Southern Avenue Parking Garage listed as PG3 on the campus map. Parking is free for guests and you will receive your parking pass in the confirmation email that you receive after you register. Please print that pass and display it on your dash when you park.

1 | UNIVERSITY CENTER The University Center is the hub of campus life. On the first floor, you'll find tons of places to eat whether you want a cup of coffee, a sit-down meal or a quick bite on the go. Stop by the exhibit tables to learn about student organizations or campus initiatives. The second floor features the Involvement Zone, where student organization offices, and the Technology Hub, with a 24 hour computer lab, are located. There are plenty of spaces for you to relax between classes. The third floor is comprised of conference and event spaces. The UofM has more than 250 student organizations ranging from academic, Greek, political, religious and everything in between. If you have an idea for a new organization, you can start your own! The national organization Up `Til Dawn, which raises money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, was founded on our campus.

2 | BOOKSTORE UofM students wear Tiger Blue every Friday, game day and most days in between. Stop by the University Bookstore to grab some Tiger gear, order your books for the semester or pick up a cup of coffee before class at Starbucks. You'll also find Tiger Banking and University Eye Care in this building. The student plaza is a great place to relax and check out the different info fairs and events, and you can't miss the Homecoming Kick-Off Event where the Alumni Association turns the fountain blue.

3 | BALL HALL/CAMPUS SCHOOL The College of Education, located in Ball Hall, is where it all began. Originally founded as West Tennessee State Normal School in 1912, the UofM was a school for training teachers. Now, with over 50 degree programs, more than a dozen research centers and institutes and numerous partnerships throughout the Mid-South, the College of Education continues to produce top educators. With two laboratory schools housed on our campus, Barbara K. Lipman Early Learning and Research Center for children aged 2 to kindergarten and the UofM Campus School for first through fifth graders, our students are able to research, teach and observe without leaving campus.

4 | ELMA ROANE FIELD HOUSE The Elma Roane Field House is home to Tiger Women's Basketball and Volleyball, as well as the School of Health Studies. Enhancements have been made to the facilities to provide a comprehensive strength and conditioning area and the latest in recovery and therapy equipment.

The School of Health Studies teaches the principles of health, exercise, nutrition and physical activity. It's home to the Center for Nutraceutical and Dietary Supplement Research, which investigates ingredients and supplements for safety and efficacy, and the Sport Performance and Health Consulting Center, which provides health testing and is used by athletes for performance-based testing.

5 | MEMORIAL FIELD Memorial Field features a practice field within a running track. On any given day, you'll hear the tunes of the Mighty Sound of the South, our University marching band, practicing, or one of the four ROTC branches -- Air Force, Army, Marines and Navy -- running drills. In addition, the spring and Homecoming concerts hosted by the Student Activities Council take place on the field. Looking around you'll see Scates Hall, home to College of Arts and Sciences, the ROTC offices and Robison Hall that houses the School of Public Health.

6 | MCWHERTER LIBRARY The Ned R. McWherter Library is the main library on campus. The floor plan is the length and width of a football field, so it's the size of four football fields stacked on top of each other. Librarians are available most hours of the day to assist with research or finding resources. The University is a member of the interlibrary loan system, so on the off chance you can't find the book you're looking for, we can get it for you! Utilize the Technology Sandbox to explore new technologies such as 3D computer-aided design, gaming systems, cameras and 3D printers. The Sandbox continues to expand and will include tools for traditional crafting and more.

7 7 | HERFF COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING The Herff College of Engineering offers six different majors: Biomedical, Civil, Computer, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Technology. As a University driven by doing, students research and create alongside professional engineers and mentors, which is why you'll find a research lab around just about every corner. Relax in the student lounge or collaborate with classmates in the work room that has the tools you need. You won't spend all your time on campus thanks to our renowned cooperative education program that provides paid experience with our industrial partners. Memphis is built on innovation. In fact, some of the world's biggest biomedical and logistics companies are headquartered here, providing unprecedented opportunities for our students.

8 | RUDI E. SCHEIDT SCHOOL OF MUSIC Located in the home of the blues and the birth place of rock `n' roll, it's no surprise the Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music is one of the largest music schools in the southeast. We offer degrees in 29 areas of concentration and are the only program in the Mid-South that offers a doctoral degree in music. Our student ensembles, ranging from jazz to opera to pop and more, perform in our Harris Auditorium as well as alongside our "in-residence" partner, the Memphis Symphony Orchestra. The new Scheidt Family Music Center is underway and will include a performing arts center, practice rooms and recording studios and double the size of the current facility.

and Resort Management is located within a

fully operational Holiday Inn with 82 suites

It was created by and named for Kemmons

Holiday Inn, right here in Memphis. The school

offers students a balance of academics and

real-world experience, right within their own

school. The school also offers a degree in

Sport and Leisure Management. Our students

Memphis is home to many of America's greatest corporations, including three Fortune 500 companies, and Fogelman College has partnered with many of them to provide unparalleled opportunities for our students to train, work and succeed. Our in-house Cook Analytics and Trading Lab is a facsimile of a Wall Street trading firm featuring cutting-edge technology that provides students with handson experience. Additional labs measure biometric responses to marketing stimuli and data analytics.

11 | FEDEX INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY The FedEx Institute of Technology is more than an ultramodern building with all the technological amenities to host high-profile events. It's home to cutting-edge research and innovation in emerging technologies. It ties together researchers from across campus to achieve breakthroughs in intelligent systems, drones, autonomous vehicles, precision medicine and more. The Institute is proud to have a unique partnership with FedEx which sponsors advanced research. The space itself is quite remarkable though. The AutoZone amphitheater is the second-largest implementation of digital congress units outside the United Nations Building. Additional meeting spaces and study areas provide ample space for students and the community to collaborate.

12 | CENTENNIAL PLACE Next you will see Centennial Place, a co-ed residence hall that's home to 800 students. You can choose from single or double rooms that have shared private restrooms, or you can select an apartment that is comprised of six rooms, two bathrooms and a kitchen area. Highlights include the private study areas, group collaboration spaces, the POD convenience store, free laundry facilities and nearby parking. Take a break from studying and relax on the Centennial Mall. The structure exceeds Tennessee's Sustainable Guidelines, lessening our global footprint. A virtual tour is available on our website, and you can see additional residence halls on campus.

13 13. WILDER TOWER Wilder Tower is home to just about all things student services including admissions, scholarships, transcripts, academic counseling center, career services and University Student & Business Services. Next door in Brister Hall, which is one of the four original buildings on our campus and is home to the College of Professional and Liberal Studies, a degree program that allows you to create your own major if you can't find what you're looking for in any of our 250 areas of study.

14. R EC CENTER

At the south end of Alumni Mall, you'll see the

14

Hunter Harrison Memorial pedestrian cable bridge which leads students across Southern Avenue to

the new R. Brad Martin Student Wellness Center

and our existing rec center. Once completed in

spring 2021, the combined complex will enhance

just about any sport or recreation activity

imaginable. At the current rec center, enjoy indoor

and outdoor pools, fitness rooms, a sauna and

basketball and racquetball courts. The newest

building is designed with the whole student in

mind, integrating academic classrooms/learning,

a demonstration/teaching kitchen, a healthy

food cafe, advanced fitness areas/studios and

beautiful gathering spaces all under one roof.

The School of Health Studies is also housed in

the R. Brad Martin Student Wellness Center.

Thank you for visiting our campus today! Please use the resource document should you have any questions or if you would like to set up a guided campus tour. We hope to see you on campus soon, Go Tigers!
