2003. International Service and ongoing participation in a work group that includes faculty from UMBC, UMB and the University of Ghana towards developing initiatives that would lead to funded research and curriculum development for a proposed MSW program in Ghana. This was the basis of the $12,000 Rotary Foundation Grant for Teachers.

2001. Member, Pro-Bono Counseling Services. A referral service for

individuals in need of mental health services but have no means of paying.

2000. Member, executive committee: Consortium for Addiction Training in Higher

Education (CATHE).

1998. Volunteer Facilitator and team member for the Kinship Power Team Training Project a BCDSS, Legal Aid Bureau and Open Society Institute project.

1999. Member, State of Maryland Alcohol & Drug Abuse Administration (ADAA)

Treatment Research Advisory Board.

1999. Member, National Institute of Health (NIH)/National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism’s working group to prevent prenatal drinking in women.

2003. Trainer for the Title IVE Child Welfare Program. Provide training on Addictions and the family.

1998 Developed and coordinated training for child welfare staff at the Prince George’s

County Department of Social Services in May 1998 to explore strategies for

working with families impacted by substance abuse:.

1998 Understanding the Child Welfare System: The cycle of recovery and/or the best

interests of the child: Training provided for providers of substance abuse treatment including prevention programs in Prince George’s County Maryland.
