Americans are among the most stressed out populations in the world, ranking 20% higher than the world average of 35%1

Anxiety, burnout and sadness impact every area of our lives, making it difficult to perform and fulfill expectations in the workplace.

The impact to businesses is astronomical. Lost productivity associated with untreated mental health conditions is estimated to cost U.S. employers $80 to $100 billion annually.2

There is growing recognition that supporting the mental well-being of employees is a smart financial decision. Workplaces that promote the mental health of their employees create an accessible and positive workplace, one that promotes engagement and attracts talent. Participating businesses are more likely to increase productivity, decrease absenteeism, presenteeism, and benefit economically.

Workplace Productivity

For every $1 invested in mental health education in the workplace, there is a return of $10 in improved health and productivity.3

Even so, many organizations struggle to implement effective initiatives to improve mental health in the workplace.

Competitive Businesses Cannot Afford To Ignore These Issues Any longer.

NAMI Greater Des Moines' vision for Central Iowa employers is the development of a workforce where wellness is so deeply ingrained into the fabric of their culture that there is no wrong door when it comes to recognizing and treating mental health.

The success of their business and their future depends on it.

INTRODUCING

Mental Health In The Workplace

A series of accessible and affordable workshops specifically designed to assist Central Iowa employers with mental health education, outreach and how to

support the mental well-being of their employees.

WHY DID WE START THIS PROGRAM?

Bringing awareness about mental illnesses to the community and developing comprehensive outreach and education programs is what we do. Our end goal is to help as many people as possible recognize how important mental health is to themselves, their families and their community. Unfortunately, some struggle more than most and research shows us that the scales are shifting to a point where mental illness is becoming more prevalent each year. To combat this and fulfill our mission, we needed to start asking ourselves how we can do more as an organization dedicated to our cause. The big idea? Why not start with affecting change where people spend 8 hours a day...the workplace.

After extensive research, NAMI Greater Des Moines found that employers are ill-equipped and severely lack the essential resources to help employees that are struggling to live their best life. A happy employee is a productive one and if you, as an employer, do not have the tools to create a healthy business culture dedicated to the wellness of your employees, then how can you look forward to success in the future?

Welcome to Mental Health In The Workplace (MWH), a program specifically engineered for you, an employer dedicated to ensuring their workforce lives their best lives.
