Provider Newsletter17 May 2018Data collection tool updateThanks very much to all the providers who’ve submitted their data collection tools. There’s been a great response – we’ve received submissions from 364 providers. Only 30 have yet to respond. Even if you don’t think you’re eligible please respond and let us know. The deadline for uploading your data collection tool is Friday 25 May. It’s important to remember that if you are eligible and don’t complete the tool, you won’t receive funding. Once a settlement is passed into law, providers will have a legal requirement to pay eligible workers any new wage rates. You can contact us by emailing MHApayequity_implementation@t.nz or by calling our free phone 0800 540 904.Next stepsWe are currently working through the data received so we can calculate your pay equity funding. The data will also be used to calculate the total cost of a settlement, which is required for Cabinet and Government approval. The calculation of your pay equity funding will include: Retrospective funding to cover worker back-pay 1 July 2017 to 30 June 2018,A one-off contribution to the increase in the cost of leave liability, andThree months forward funding to ensure funding is available to pay workers the new rates. The Ministry will be calling providers from next week with questions about the data you have supplied. Please note that you will have the opportunity to check the final calculation.Following Cabinet approval of a settlement agreement, we will send you a form to sign to acknowledge the settlement, confirm you have discussed it with your employees, and that you agree to use the funding for settlement purposes. This will enable us to pay you before the legislation is passed into law.Ministry to supply provider contact information for ratification meetingsThe proposed Mental Health and Addiction Support Workers (Pay Equity) Settlement Agreement, if approved by the Government, will require ratification by providers and employees before it can be implemented. The PSA and E Tū, the unions representing workers in the sector, plan to hold meetings to ratify the agreement following Cabinet approval. They have asked the Ministry to supply the names of provider organisations with potentially eligible workers in order to organise these meetings. The Ministry has agreed to the request after consulting with provider representatives. The use of provider contact information is for ratification and eligibility purposes only.We will give the PSA and E Tū the names and contact details of providers that submitted a mental health and addiction pay equity data collection return to the Ministry. No other information submitted to the Ministry will be provided to the unions. We will also be providing the same information to Platform, the provider peak body, in order for them to organise provider ratification meetings.Factsheet covers your frequently asked questionsYou can go to the factsheet on our website to get the latest answers to the most frequently asked questions we’re receiving from providers. The factsheet will be updated as we progress through the settlement implementation process.
