ScholarshipsFreshmanIncoming freshman are eligible for $1,000 to $7,000 annual scholarships, as much as $28,000 for four years of enrollment as full-time students. These merit-based scholarship awards are determined according to students' GPAs and SAT/ACT scores at the time of admission. Scholarship eligible students who submit their deposit on or before MAY 1, 2012 will be awarded a $1,000 Incentive Scholarship in addition to the $1,000-$7,000 Freshman Scholarship! Transfer StudentsAll new undergraduate transfer students will be automatically considered for merit scholarships, based on academic credentials. Full-time students with a GPA of 2.5 or greater may receive up to $2,500 for the academic year.Full-time students who have a GPA of 3.5 or greater and are admitted on or before April 15, 2012 may be considered for an additional $1,000 scholarships.Part-time students with a GPA of 2.5 or greater may receive $500 for the academic year.Wilson Presidential ScholarshipThe Wilson Presidential Scholarship is available to new transfer students entering UB who are seeking their first Bachelor’s Degree with at least 60 credits. Students must have a cumulative transfer GPA of 3.5 or higher when entering. The Wilson Presidential Scholarship covers 100% of in-state tuition only; students are still responsible for all incurred student fees. The scholarship is automatically renewable for four semesters of enrollment (excluding summer) if a GPA of 3.25 is maintained at UB.Undergraduate Foundation ScholarshipsThe following scholarships offered by the UB Foundation have unique criteria. Students who meet the basic qualifications for individual scholarship funds will be notified and invited to apply each year. AFSCME/PJ Ciampa Scholarship: Applicant must be an AFSCME member or relative of an AFSCME member, must be full time, must have completed 54 credits toward a Bachelor's degree and have a cumulative 3.0 GPA.Ajit Ahuja Memorial Scholarship: Applicant must be an entrepreneurship major, have a GPA of 3.0 and be full-time.Alumni Association Scholarship: Applicant must be a relative of a UB alumnus/a, be enrolled full-time and demonstrate financial need. Consideration will be given to freshmen who earn a 3.5 GPA. Colvin Scholarship: Applicant must be a senior with at least 90 credits completed, have a cumulative GPA of 3.3, and have financial need as demonstrated by the FAFSA.Maryland Law Enforcement Officers' Association Scholarship: Applicant must be a Maryland resident in good academic standing and pursuing a career in law enforcement. McGladrey Scholarship: Applicant must be a rising junior or senior in the MSB Accounting Program. Applicant must be full-time with a cumulative GPA of 3.5.Graduate ScholarshipsNew Graduate students may qualify for various UB Foundation Scholarships based upon admissions credentials and based upon the unique criteria of individual scholarships. Funding is extremely limited. Awards are made based upon admission credentials and upon the order in which completed admissions applications are received. Priority consideration is given to those who are admitted by June 1st. There is no separate scholarship application process.Law ScholarshipsThe school of Law offers partial scholarships to both new full time and part time students. The total amount of money available for scholarship varies each year. There is no separate application process for scholarships. Initial scholarship offers will be made shortly after an offer of admission. Scholarship awards are based on undergraduate GPA and the highest LSAT score. If you do not receive an initial offer you will be considered for scholarships as addition funds become available.Scholarships for Maryland ResidentsYou are automatically considered for Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) scholarships if you complete the FAFSA by May 1, are a Maryland resident and meet need based requirements. State of Maryland Scholarship information is available on the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) websiteExternal ScholarshipsThe University of Idaho permits us to link to their external scholarship website. There are over 400 scholarships listed.ABA Legal Opportunity ScholarshipThe ABA Legal Opportunity Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance to minority students. Applications must be submitted to the ABA by March 1st.State ScholarshipsState of Maryland Scholarship information is available on the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) website at mhec.state.md.us. Log onto their new MDCAPS system to view your award status or update your State award information.Edward T. Conroy Memorial Scholarship: Maryland resident's enrolled at least half-time. Provides assistance to 100% disabled public safety employees; children & spouses of deceased or 100% disabled public safety employees; POW's; children of POW's; children of deceased or 100% disabled military; certain 25% disabled military; and spouses and children of victims of the Sept. 11th terrorist attacks.
