EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, METROPOLITAN REGIONAL EDUCATIONA L SERVICE AGENCY

The Board of Control of Metro RESA is accepting applications for the position of Executive Director. Metro RESA serves twelve public school systems. Its governing board consists of these system superintendents and twelve presidents of institutions of higher education in the Atlanta metro area, and a local public or regional library representative.

Qualifications:

Candidate must hold or be eligible for the Georgia Leadership Certificate. Leadership experience is required for the position. The board will offer up to a three-year contract with a competitive compensation package.

For the position the Board is seeking a strong executive with training and experience to:

1. Develop cooperative and supporting services that help member school systems successfully attain the standards of the state curriculum, comply with state accountability regulations, and improve student achievement.

2. Assist Metro school systems by representing their interests whenever possible regarding state level policy development in all areas of education, but especially influencing and informing decision makers regarding the unique needs and resources associated with urban schools in meeting state/national standards.

3. Provide leadership in improving articulation and collaboration between P-12 education and higher education partners.

4. Provide sound financial administration for the Agency’s fiscal resources, including

(a) the preparation and presentation for Board approval of an annual budget and budget amendments during the fiscal year, and (b) monthly and annual financial reports, with prompt notice to the Board of any financial problem or irregularity.

5. Promote an understanding of the Agency’s role in improving public education in the metro area and the state of Georgia.

6. Network with other public and private agencies which are either interested in MRESA’s initiatives and/or improving public education in order to share resources and/or obtain financial support to sustain and increase the present level of services.

7. To be responsible for the administration of programs and services approved by the Board of Control.
