University of Michigan Counseling & Psychological Services Job Openings -- (9 positions)

The University of Michigan Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS), a unit within Student Life, is seeking candidates to fill 9 full-time positions. Most of the positions are new budget allocations as we continue to grow to meet the needs of the student body. CAPS is a university counseling center that serves a diverse student body of approximately 44,000 students. We are a multicultural, multidisciplinary, and multi-theoretical staff striving to provide culturally competent clinical services, outreach programming, and training opportunities. We are a counseling center that affirms diversity, condemns oppression in every form, and encourages the utilization of our services by all students, including those that might be reluctant to receive standard/traditional forms of treatment. To this end, we seek to provide a safe, welcoming and affirming environment for all. CAPS is accredited by the International Association of Counseling Services (IACS), and the doctoral internship is accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA).

These positions can be filled by a psychologist or social worker. Starting date is negotiable, but ideally by August 7, 2017.

Responsibilities for all positions include: individual and group counseling, consultation with faculty and staff, outreach and liaison services, crisis intervention, administrative activities such as agency committees and service documentation, and active involvement in all training programs including supervision of trainees, and educational activities. CAPS employees are strong generalists in the areas of solution-focused clinical work, group treatment, training and supervision of social work, psychiatry, and psychology trainees, and outreach/education/community engagement work, all within a college student mental health setting.

CAPS is especially interested in continuing to build and maintain a culturally diverse staff dedicated to working in a multicultural environment.

General Requirements ? applicable to all positions:

? For Social Worker: Master's or Doctoral degree in Social work. Licensed/license eligible in the State of Michigan. ? For Psychologist: Doctoral degree in counseling or clinical psychology or a closely related field, from an APA-accredited program, and APAaccredited internship. Licensed/license eligible in the State of Michigan.

Demonstrated competency and expertise, or interest in developing an expertise, with psycho-educational programming and outreach in the context of college student life. ? ? Men's Issues (e.g., sexual orientation, gender identity, process addictions) ? Working with student communities of color, especially Latina/o, ArabAmerican, and Asian-American communities ? Fluency (including able to conduct therapy) in languages in addition to English, especially Chinese/Mandarin ? Transgender communities ? Trauma and Sexualized Violence ? Complex Anxiety disorders

For Embedded Counselor Positions (5):

These newly funded positions will be dedicated to the following Schools/Colleges: ? College of Engineering ? College of Pharmacy ? Comprehensive Studies Program within the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts ? School of Social Work ? Rackham Graduate School

For these "embedded model" positions, we are strongly interested in someone who will help extend this model for our campus with culturally competent clinical and programming expertise. Successful candidates will have demonstrated skills in navigating multiple systems as well as working independently.
