Job Title: Sexual Assault Advocacy Coordinator

Reports to: Sexual Assault Center Director

Department: Sexual Assault Center

Salary Range: $45,000-$60,000

Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA): Exempt

Job Hours: Full Time/40 hours per week

Position Overview:

The Sexual Assault Advocacy Coordinator at Crisis Line & Safe House of Central Georgia (CL&SH) oversees the day-to-day functions of program advocates and volunteers, ensures high quality client centered services are provided to victims of sexual assault, and coordinates volunteers providing rape crisis services. All duties are performed in alignment with CL&SH mission and philosophy.

Essential Job Functions as Sexual Assault Advocacy Coordinator:

• Oversees program advocates and volunteers

• Provides crisis intervention and support to victims of sexual assault and their friends or family, either face-to-face or by telephone

• Provides follow-up/case management services to clients seen in the Sexual Assault Center or Emergency Department, and to victims that make contact through the crisis hotline

• Works closely and interacts with medical personnel, detectives, deputies, patrol officers, supervisors, service providers, other advocates, governmental agencies, and the public to ensure a victim’s rights and needs are addressed

• Provides accompaniment to law enforcement interviews, meetings with the District Attorney’s Office, and court proceedings

• Provides back up for volunteer advocates that are on call

• Takes call each month to provide back up for advocates that are on call and fills in as part of on call advocacy team as needed

• Answers the crisis hotline to provide effective assistance and helpful information to the caller

• Follows each funder’s guidelines and stipulations as it relates to services and case management

• Stays up to date on resources available to assist victims of sexual assault to include, but not limited to, community and in-house resources

• Maintains appropriate standards of confidentiality

• Recruits, trains, and maintains volunteer advocates who will provide hospital response services

• Assists with revising, assessing, and monitoring volunteer training programs

• Conducts presentations for professionals, schools, community groups, and others to promote understanding and awareness of sexual assault, domestic violence, stalking, and dating violence

• Participates in the Macon Judicial Circuit Sexual Assault Response Team to help ensure a consistent, competent, and comprehensive response to sexual assault in our community

• Attends community meetings, grant required meetings, or any other meeting or event deemed necessary by the agency

• Stays knowledgeable of State and Federal guidelines and laws as related to sexual assault

• Ensures that necessary information regarding each client is properly documented either in the client file and/or through other data collection methods

• Completes and submits program reports to funders

• Participates in program evaluation to ensure that results can be incorporated to improve programs

• Participates in fundraising activities

• Works as a team member with other staff and volunteers to achieve the mission of CL&SH



Requirements of Position Applicants:

• Possess at minimum a four-year degree in social work, psychology, criminal justice, community counseling, or equivalent work experience

• Possess a background in non-profit work

• Possess a background in victim advocacy

• Possess an understanding of sexual assault dynamics

• Able to work independently

• Able to utilize the resources available both in the community and in-house.

• Pass a criminal background check

• Willing to submit to random drug screenings

• Willing to adhere to all agency policies and procedures

Other Skills/Abilities:

• Organizational skills

• Problem solving skills

• Ability to learn to use TTY machine

• Ability to use all office equipment (Microsoft included)
