Downloading and Installing StatPro for Excel 2007

First, download the file (accessible from Dr. Green’s website at )

Second, you must install the software. The file you downloaded is a ZIP-compressed file, so after downloading it, you will need to double-click on the file to unzip it. There will be a single file, Setup.exe. Double-click on this file to run it. It is best to not change any of the options, and to let the software install itself. By default, it will be placed in the folder C:/Program Files/Microsoft Office/Office 11/Library in a new folder named StatPro.

The third and final step is to link Microsoft Excel with the add-in. Start Excel 2007. Click on the Office Button in the upper left corner of the screen to view the main office menu.

Now, click on the Excel Options button and click on Add-ins in the left column. From this screen (figure 2) select “Manage Excel Add-ins” from the pull-down menu at the bottom and the click on the Go button.

In the Add-ins screen that appears after clicking the Go button, click on Browse and locate the file StatPro.xla on the computer (it should be in the default file C:/Program Files/Microsoft Office/Office 11/Library). Then click OK to close file browser.

Make sure that “StatPro” now appears in the Add-ins list with a checkmark beside it and click OK to complete the connection. From now on, when you start Excel 2007, there should be a tab along the top labeled “Add-ins”. Selecting that tab should give you access to the StatPro menu.

NOTE: If you have StatPro installed and working, it may occasionally “vanish” from Excel. This is easy to correct; save your work, close Excel and start it back up. The add-in should re-appear.
