Lots of discussion around platform – initial meeting will be a good test to see how it works.AB commented that people who are shielding need to educate services about what they will need over the next 3-6 months and need the opportunity to interrogate the council and health services.SO will run as many sessions as needed at different times – AB is chairing. Susan Shaw in council will be contacted for longer ramps being ordered. It was discussed that wider; smoother pavements would be much better. Council should be encouraged to make a policy to make the pavement wider and raised. JC said that Hampton may be considered less important as it has smaller shops. Hampton Post Office is not accessible especially during Christmas. Anyone who has any premises they want to be assessed to see if accessible need to contact AB. ABOngoingHate Crime Activities - AWAmanda to update in the next meeting. AWMobility Forum(MF) – Planning for February - ABParking on the Pavement – It was an issue in Whitton. Sending a parking attendant to monitor might help. People find difficult to get hold of the parking attendant or anyone when they need to complain. Alan to send the details of person to get in touch for complain of parking. Taking a photo and tweeting will help. Alan Benson to share the contact details. Guided Tour Twickenham/Richmond station for visually impaired and wheelchair users. Getting a guided tour to the newly built station will help people. It was agreed to have the tour before next mobility forum. Jackie Venus to share her email with Alka to share with Alan for South West train for the guided tour. Since the meeting GB has visited the station but nobody available then contacted SWR customer services who will get back to him.Action on Disability would like to attend the next Mobility Forum- To be invited for the next Mobility forum.South West Railways/Trains Reps to be invited – Proper platform announcements need to be done at Barnes station for visually impaired as they keep changing the platforms without proper notice and it makes difficult for people to navigate themselves. Transport for London (TFL), SWT, Garages Hounslow, Fulwell to be invited to the next forum – Alan Benson Mobility Officer – It was agreed that inviting mobility officer from adult social services will be useful. AD to pass on contact details to AB. Will hear about the funding by end of the January. AD working on the funding for October event. AB offered to help AD for the October event. AD needs advertising, venue to be sorted for the event. This will also be a good opportunity to promote Your Say membership. Information to be sent out to all.26th March Your Say is clashing with health event, we will move to 19th March – Alka to check Room availability at RuilsRob O’ Caroll and Charlie from council talked about community conversation with AB. The council want to get a good broad group of disabled people to identify the strategic issues. Council would like to know how can they improve access? AB will have another meeting in 3 weeks and he would like the group to know what are the topics or areas we should be looking at. It was discussed that approach to planning & development – has no regard to access; all consultations are online and that excludes many people. AB suggested that there should be Nothing About Us Without Us, Do Not Exclude us. JV said that there should be same services for all irrespective of disability for example how to access swimming pool, transport, recycling etc for people who are visually impaired. It was also agreed that there should be a way to monitor the progress after meetings else it will be waste of time for allAccessibility Local Parks - JC mentioned that he finds difficult to access bushy park in his wheel chair. Jane updated that gates are big enough for wheelchairs but 1 more person required to hold the gate. Allotments – PL wanted to know that how many wheelchair users or visually impaired have access to allotments? GB mentioned about Ruils Community Allotment at Shacklegate Lane. Sheddington Project – Shed ProjectDisability Advice Centre – SP raised the issue of DAAC being accessible for her guide dog too, specifically the absence of a spend area.Medipop / message in the bottle in the fridge – JV wanted to know where find the medipop. The group wasn’t aware that this was an active scheme.It was noted that Bob Burgess has moved to a care home.
