030400 22nd May 2020Dear Parents/CarersAs you are no doubt aware, from the 1st June 2020, the Academy will be rolling out the use of Microsoft Teams to all year groups. Please be aware although we are going to be making use of Microsoft Teams for a variety of purposes, all home learning tasks will continue to be published on Doddle. Teams is a free collaborative online platform for staff and students to use, which we believe will greatly enhance the home learning experience of our pupils. Teams allows pupils to complete tasks set by their teachers and submit the completed work back to their teacher for feedback. Microsoft Teams is something which is already used by Year 7 to 9 pupils for their home learning in Computing, and can be installed as an App on Desktop PCs on any operating system. It can also be installed on most smart phones/tablets and can be found in the relevant app store.Over the coming weeks, we are hoping to increasingly offer recorded lessons and live pastoral sessions, which we know will enhance the home learning and provide further interaction and support for all our pupils.Should you have any difficulty accessing Microsoft Teams, please find a how-to document overleaf. Should this continue to be the case, or you have any other queries, please contact the Academy via Synergy. If you have requested to borrow a school laptop, these should be supplied before 1st June and you and your son/daughter will be invited into school to collect it at an allotted time. In addition, we will be providing video training for students in Year 10, who have not used Teams before. To ensure any associated safeguarding risks are minimised, all teachers have undergone bespoke training. Any live sessions are recorded, and instructions on expectations will be given at the beginning of each session. Finally, all home learning will continue to be published on Doddle according to the home learning timetable, even where the work is to be completed on Microsoft Teams. Furthermore, Synergy remains the primary method of communication between school and home.Yours sincerelyMr S Porterrightbottom00Assistant HeadteacherInstall Office for free on computers and laptops The following instructions are for the Google Chrome browser but other browsers should show a similar process.
