Please refer to the website for specific instructions and links to forms and templates: provisional-membershipPlease note: Deadlines listed are prior to close of business on or before the date listed.Step 1: Acknowledgment – please send today (no later than July 20)Send acknowledgement email that you have received the Invitation to Apply and are able to access it to: alicialhumc@ and jnupp@.Step 2: Complete Initial Forms – Deadline: July 20, 2020Review the General Instructions on the BWC Provisional Member website: including the Board of Ordained Ministry Plagiarism GuidelinesGo to the BWC Application and Assignment Portal by selecting this hyperlink: Register by creating a Username and Password, then proceed with your Application by following the Prompts through the Certified and Ordained Ministry. Stage One in this Application will require you to: Verify Eligibility;Complete a comprehensive Application Information form; Briefly express your Statement of Call; Download, sign and notarize the Disclosure Form; Review Expectations of Leaders; andUpload any DCOM requirements, including outstanding recommendations (optional)After each step, you will need to click the green “Mark Complete” box in the lower right corner of the page to move forward.Step 3: Evaluations & Updates Deadline: August 19, 2020Now that you have been recommended to submit materials for the Provisional Membership Exam, your on-line application will be reviewed and advanced to that Stage in the candidacy process. You will be required to affirm your understanding of the process, update necessary information and supply the names and emails for required recommendations.Acknowledge your Understanding of the Provisional Member Requirements;Updates or corrections to Applicant Information Form;Upload Photo;Update Disclosure Form;Upload signed Recommendation Authorization Form;Upload Education Transcript (if you have not provided one already, or made arrangements to have one sent);Initiate Evaluation Process by providing names and emails for required recommendationsBe sure to “Mark Complete” each step along the way, with the exception of the recommendations, which you will need to track for progress. You are responsible for respectfully ensuring that all evaluations will be completed no later than September 25, 2020.Step 4: Sermon Review Deadline: September 25, 2020Submit the Sermon for review by the Sermon Review Committee through the on-line portal. The Rev. Dr. Melissa Rudolph is Chairperson of the review committee.Detailed instructions and requirements, including the rubric used for grading, can be found on the Conference website at provisional-membership. Acceptable formats for video are AVI, MP4, YouTube and VimeoStep 5: Biblical Skills Submission Deadline: September 25, 2020Submit the?Biblical Skills?materials for review by the Biblical Skills Review Committee through the on-line portal. The Rev. George Winkfiled is Chairperson of the review committee.Detailed instructions and requirements, including the rubric used for grading and a sample Lesson Plan, can be found on the Conference website at provisional-membership. Student Evaluations should be printed, distributed and returned to Rev. John Nupp by email (scanned copies) or US Mail by the deadline.Step 6: Transcripts and other outstanding Requirements – Deadline: September 25, 2020If any of these items are missing from your DCOM file, you may submit transcript information or other DCOM requirements through the on-line portal. For additional questions, contact Rev. John Nupp, Rev. Alicia Vanisko or your DCOM Chair.Current background check and current psychological testingCompletion of Basic Graduate Theological Studies, including United Methodist History, Doctrine and PolityOfficial Seminary Transcript, including all Field Education requirements, such as the Practice in Ministry and Mission and Covenant Discipleship experiencesThe official, certified copy of your seminary transcript should document that you have graduated or are on track to graduate by May 30, 2021. Include a list of courses you are planning to take to finish your degree, if applicable. Please note: If you are still enrolled in seminary, you will need to send another transcript in late January or early February, showing your Fall Semester class results and your Spring semester enrollment. NOTE: If you have submitted an official transcript to the DCOM that includes grades from the Spring Semester 2020, you do NOT need to send another at this time.Returning Candidates: If at the time of your last Provisional Exam you had graduated from seminary and you have not taken any more seminary classes since, then you do not need to have another transcript sent. Likewise, if you have had no more seminary classes and no further field education experiences since your last exam, you need not have letters from the seminary sent again. Please contact the Registrar stating these facts in writing.Step 7: Medical Summary Report – Deadline: September 25, 2020Form 103, provided by the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry must completed and signed by a Physician or Nurse Practitioner within the past six months. Please be sure to also complete your portion of the form.The form must be uploaded by you or mailed by your medical professional to the Rev. John W. Nupp.Returning candidates who have submitted a medical form within the last year need not be examined again unless there have been significant changes in your health. Please note that a new Medical Summary Report must be submitted each year.Step 8: Review Completion of Evaluations– Deadline: September 25, 2020Please contact any outstanding recommendations; Mark all Evaluations complete in the Application PortalStep 9: Written Responses to the Book of Discipline – Deadline: September 25, 2020Prepare your Written Examination submission according to the instructions on the website. A Template has been provided, which is set up according to the order and specifications required. In addition, you may review the Written Examination Rubric to learn how your written submission will be evaluated by members of the Board of Ordained Ministry.Your complete Written Examination submission must be uploaded through the Application portal by the deadline in order to be accepted for review.Finally, prepare one separate, complete set of your Examination Questions printed on paper for your permanent file. Do not staple or bind your copy. Place this printed set in a large envelope and then place it in another larger envelope or box and MAIL OR HAND-DELIVER to Rev. John W. Nupp on or before close of business on the date of the deadline. ................
