Summer School News

Secondary Summer School is through our Edmonds eLearning Academy. All courses will be via an online curriculum, however, all students who are taking courses for credit recovery must attend their course specific session(s) at the Student Learning Center Tuesday ? Thursday to receive credit.

Transportation will be available Tuesday ? Thursday beginning July 2, 2019. There will be no lab in session on July 4, 2019. For route information, please visit our district website via the link below.

Class Time Schedule

Online Learning Lab Sessions Tuesday ? Thursday

EL Courses (1/2 credit) 10:00 a.m. ? 2:00 p.m.

Tuition:

New Credit: $250.00 Credit recovery - $25.00 Free and reduced - $10.00 (Letter from Food Services Department required) English Language (EL) - $10.00

Students taking courses for credit recovery will be required to be on campus TuesdayThursday. There will be no exceptions to this rule.

The Learning Center will be open and available to all students to work between 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., Tuesday-Thursday. This is especially helpful for students who need extra teacher support and extra time to complete their course work.

No refunds will be given should attendance or discipline cause a student to be withdrawn from summer school.

NOTE:

There will be no smoking/vaping or alcohol permitted on campus at all times.

STEP TWO: Pay for Course(s)

? To pay online for a course with a credit/debit card, pay through the InTouch system.

Summer School Help and Registration Days: June 26 and June 27 The Edmonds eLearning Academy will be open on Thursday June 26 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00

p.m. and Friday June 27 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. to help families with the following: register for courses, payment for courses, getting started with our eLearning program (highly recommended for new students), general questions, meeting your teacher. The Edmonds eLearning Academy is located on the campus of College Place Middle School in Building H, Room 30.

Registration Closes: June 27, 2019

To ensure a successful summer school learning experience, please register as soon as possible. Non-payment of a course by this date could result in withdraw from a summer school course.

Transportation: Transportation will be available Tuesday-Thursday beginning July 2 for all interested students via district school buses. Students will be picked up and dropped off at regional stops. Route information will be available at . edmonds.wednet.edu/cms.

Attendance: Attendance at the Student Learning Center is mandatory Tuesday-Thursday from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. for students who are enrolled in credit recovery courses. In order to receive credit, your student must not have more than two absences. Any student with

more than two absences will be withdrawn from summer school with NO refund.

Grades:

In-district student grades are entered directly onto transcripts. Out-of-district student transcripts will be mailed to the school address on the registration form. In-district student grades will not be mailed home, however will be available via Skyward after August 7, 2019.

Completion of Courses:

Students have the opportunity to complete their course early and finish summer school ahead of the July 30 deadline. All courses are available 24/7. Students in credit recovery courses will be expected to attend the Student Learning Center Tuesday-Thursday, until the course(s) is completed. Attendance is mandatory and transportation is provided. Students are expected to work on their virtual days of Monday and Friday to complete a course on time.

All of our course are mastery based and students have the option to pretest out of curriculum that they already understand. Motivated students can complete a course ahead of schedule by using their assignment calendar, their schedule, and time management.

Washington History: This course is a graduation milestone and is not credit bearing. The cost of this course is $50 for all students.

SCIENCE (.5 credit per semester) Biology S1/S2 Physical Science S1/S2 Environmental Science S1/S2

SPECIAL EDUCATION We have a variety of special education courses that are available for students on an IEP. These include individualized courses in Math, English, Social Studies, and Science. We will have an IEP coordinator available on site during summer school to meet the accommodations of our IEP students.

PE/HEALTH (.5 credit per semester) Physical Education S1-S3 (Curriculum/Fitness Logs) Health (one semester)

ELECTIVES (.5 credit per semester) Personal Finance

ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNERS (EL) EL summer school courses will be counted for high school credit. COST: $10.00

These classes are for in-district students only and tuition cost is covered by scholarships.

EL Beginning I (EL 092) This class is for current EL middle or high school students with limited English language skills. Enrollment is limited to 20 students per class.

EL Intermediate (EL 202) An intensive reading and writing course is available for current EL middle or high school students. Enrollment is limited to 20 students per class.

EL Advances (EL 302) An intensive reading and writing course is available for EL middle and high school students. Enrollment is limited to 20 students per class.
