My name is Mrs. Alexander and I will be your World History teacher. We will have a year full of exciting opportunities to explore Ancient World civilizations. Curriculum Overview:The primary content for this course pertains to the world's earliest civilizations to the ancient and classical civilizations of Africa, Asia, and Europe. Students will be exposed to the multiple dynamics of world history including economics, geography, politics, and religion/philosophy. Students will study methods of historical inquiry and primary and secondary historical documents.Classwork: In class, the students will be expected to use their interactive notebooks to complete a variety of class assignments. Students are responsible for keeping the notebook accurate and organized. Planners and Homework: The planner is an essential tool for our students and parents. It will help them to set goals, reflect on their learning, and to record their assignments. Students are required to write down their agenda and homework for each day. Progress Book: Website: progressbook.This is an essential tool for parents and students to monitor class performance. Each parent and student will be given a personal login and password for Progress Book. It is important to check this site at least once per week to ensure the student is not missing work or poor test scores. Progress Book will be updated twice a week.Grading Policy:Due Date Expectations:Each student is expected to be responsible for turning in all assignments on the due date. Assignments will be accepted late for partial credit. If a student is absent, he/she is expected to make up any missed work. It is his/her responsibility to check with the weekly agenda/calendar to retrieve the assignment(s). He/she will be given the number of days absent plus one extra day to make up the work. GRADING SCALE: The OCPS grading scale with be used.
