IXIA BREAKINGPOINT? 3.5, 8.0.1, AND 8.10 FEATURES

FEATURE BRIEF

KEEP YOUR APPLICATION PROTOCOLS AND SECURITY CURRENT

UPGRADE TO A BETTER, FASTER BREAKINGPOINT

BreakingPoint users will want to leverage the new features and functionality as we extend our solutions. The charts that follow show enhancements for the past three major releases.

We've also been working hard on delivering BreakingPoint in a variety of form factors to fit the power and budget needs of our diverse user base. In addition to our PerfectStormTM chassis and PerfectStorm ONETM appliance, BreakingPoint now comes in a virtualized (software) option.

BREAKINGPOINT VE

BreakingPoint Virtual Edition (VE) is a scalable real-world application and threat simulator in an elastic deployment model that leverages virtualization and industry-standard hardware platforms.

PERFECTSTORM AND PERFECTSTORM ONE

The first hardware platform to support both IxLoad? and BreakingPoint product lines, Ixia's PerfectStorm family of load modules and appliances provide the right mix of power,

size, and portability required for a wide range of testing tasks and budgets:

PerfectStorm: massive-scale, stateful layers 4-7 application and security testing, delivering nearly a terabit of application traffic

PerfectStorm ONE: compact form factor to better support the enterprise, scaling from 4Gbps to 80Gbps of application traffic simulation

APPLICATION AND THREAT INTELLIGENCE (ATI)

The ATI program offers a simple way to create test flows of the malicious and user traffic your network must withstand. It provides updates every two weeks to ensure delivery of the industry's most up-to-date application and threat intelligence.

With a current ATI subscription, you have the most realistic simulation conditions possible with access to application protocols, security attacks (exploits, malware, DoS, and DDoS), the industry's most comprehensive Microsoft? Tuesday coverage, and ever-current "Evergreen" versions of the most popular Web and network apps.

BREAKINGPOINT 8.0.1

BREAKINGPOINT 8.10

BreakingPoint VE ? Platform Features

50% reduction in OVA size over 3.4 release (From approx. 8GB to 4GB)

40% improvement for key performance metrics over 3.4 release

Support for KVM hypervisor over CentOS 6.5 and 7.0 (added in 3.4.2)

Support for KVM hypervisor over Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (added in 3.4.2)

Licensing made easy, with no need for license check during upgrades on BPS VE

Added support for the following functionality:

o DHCPv4 o Routing Robot o RFC 2544 o Multicast o Lawful Intercept o Recreate

To better support various cloud/VM environment, we have enhanced BreakingPoint VE to support more flexible deployment models by:

o Decoupling of vController & vBlade into separate OVA or QCOW2 images

o Adding the ability to attach and detach vBlade to vController via web GUI or REST API

o Supporting configurable Static IP or DHCP based communication for vController and vBlade

In addition, we have reduced CPU and memory resource footprint of BreakingPoint VE deployment in lowperformance use cases and also increased performance of CPU-bound metrics (TPUT / CPS) by 50%

Added support for the following functionality:

o IPv4/IPv6 DNS o Bit Blaster o SCTP o DDoS Lab

BreakingPoint VE can now be deployed by OpenStack based orchestrations via Horizon GUI, command line APIs or via sample Heat Orchestration Templates (HOT). This release has been qualified on a vanilla OpenStack Liberty and Mitaka Multi-Node system including with Open vSwitch. It is also compatible with other orchestration systems that are built on top of vanilla OpenStack.

In the quest to improve performance we are introducing support for Intel DPDK via VMXNET3 driver on ESXi. This has resulted in 2x improvement in HTTP throughput when Throughput as Performance Emphasis mode is enabled.

Support for new 10G Subscription license as well as for a new 10G Perpetual license. This license serves as an indestructible 10G unit can't be broken up or shared in smaller increments. It benefits the customer in that it is a more cost effective way to buy units of 10G compared to lots of 1G.

GTP Performance for AppSim component has been improved by 100%.

o 30G throughput on FireStorm cards

o 80G throughput on PerfectStorm 10GE and PerfectStorm 40GE cards

o 160G throughput on a pair of PerfectStorm 100GE cards

XGS2 Chassis

Support for the new 2-slot chassis XGS2-HS with high performance controller (9400012). The 2-slot chassis can support any two PerfectStorm cards for applications and security testing with BreakingPoint.

ECC Cipher Performance Optimization

ECC (Elliptic Curve Cryptography) cipher performance has been optimized by 3x for CPS and 20Gbps of throughput per card, using hardware capabilities of the Cavium processors on our PerfectStorm platform

Use of SSL to secure Internet communication is increasing at a rapid pace. ECC is being pushed as alternative to RSA keys as ECC can offer the same level of cryptographic strength at much smaller key sizes - offering improved security with reduced computational resources

FlixOS Enhancements

Together with the FlixOS 2015.2.1001.99 and IxOS 8.0.1 EA Patch1 releases, PerfectStorm (XGS12/2-HS chassis) and PerfectStorm ONE customers can benefit from the following platform enhancements:
