SMALLBORE RIFLE

Wayne Nunn

Another good day to shoot. Great competition! Guy Taylor took Prone, Justice Bednarek took F Class. We had our first CMP “Sporter” match, and it was a fun Match. Wayne Nunn was top gun and Mike Ginesi was second. Anyone with a .22 should consider shooting with us next time.

Next Match is May 14. It is a 1600 NRA approved match. For June we’ll have an 800 Match followed by another CMP Sporter Match.

BRAUN 4H REPORT

Dennis Anguiano

Braun 4H juniors competed at District 10’s Smallbore Match on April 16th. Senior Team members Lorraine Anguiano, Anneliese Hansen, Annalyssa Del Toro and Jessica Milton placed 4th overall with a total team score of 1686- 6. Top senior team was Kendall County with a 2012-18, 2nd was Wilson County Team 1 with 1957-33 and 3rd was Wilson County Senior Team 2 with 1802-14. There were a total of 9 Senior Teams competing. Our other competitors were Carissa Rabago with a 154-1 Junior Intermediate and Eva Hansen with a 145-0.

Reminder: as the coming months warm up, please bring plenty of water and stay hydrated during practice sessions.

HIGHPOWER RIFLE

The High Power training match in April was cancelled due to the weather. The next scheduled High Power training match will be held on May 15th, at the CTSA Range, New Braunfels. Match fee is $20 for adults and $10 for juniors and active military. Gate should be open by 0730, followed by sign-up. Fun begins at 0815 for set up and first rounds down range at 0900.` The next scheduled match J. C. Garand Match, scheduled for Sunday, June 19th, at the CTSA Range, New Braunfels.

The High Power training schedule has been updated for 2016 on the organization's calendar. Training matches are held on the third Sunday of the month, except for the Pearl Harbor Remembrance Match, which is the 1st Sunday of December. There is an exception in July. July's match will be held on the last Saturday, July 30th. This is your chance to come out on a Saturday to shoot with us.

DEFENSIVE

STMTC's 2nd Quarter 2016 Women on Target event will be held on May 21st at Blackhawk. Event fee is $50 and participants will shoot 50-rounds of .22LR. If you know a woman that would like to participate, pass this information on to her. Youth females are welcome. We also need instructors and safety officers for the event. FRIENDS OF NRA BANQUET

STMTC has purchased eight tickets for the upcoming Friends of NRA Banquet, 7:00pm On May 13th. The tickets will be distributed among the general membership at the May 5thSTMTC Board meeting. Names of attendees will be drawn at the meeting. All you need to do to qualify is be at the meeting, so come on out to the Board meeting and enjoy the camaraderie, and maybe win a ticket to represent STMTC at the FONRA annual fundraiser.

MEMBERSHIP CARD UPDATE

STMTC has purchased a membership card-specific printer for the purpose of resolving our various challenges getting the new cards to the membership. Soon we will be mailing out PVC cards (like credit card material) so we can all have our cards and keep them handy. Hang in there--we're getting it done.

PISTOL

Jim Ford

Three shooters, Hubert Denson, Rene Gonzalez, and Steve Spencer, participated in the 1800 Outdoor Pistol Training Tournament on Saturday, April 23, 2016. It was a beautiful sunny day with a light wind that kept everyone comfortable. All three shot the .22, two shot the center fire, but only Steve Spencer shot the 45 Match. George Becquet and Jim Ford ran the matches.

The next scheduled 1800 Tournament is June 25, 2016. CHECK THE CALENDAR at for the most up to date Pistol activity information.

We had an envelope stuffing meeting before the May Monthly Meeting. Seventeen folks showed up and it was a real boon to get a boring job done. Thanks to all!
