SUBJECT: Civilian Clergy Deployment Resource Guide

1. Purpose: To provide information about the Civilian Clergy Deployment Resource Guide, “Ministering to Families Affected by Military Deployment.”

2. Facts:

a. The Civilian Clergy Deployment Resource Guide is available digitally on the Chief of Chaplains’ webpage at . It is in Word format and can easily be downloaded for printing.

b. The Directorate of Ministry Initiatives is in the process of revising and updating the guide.

c. The guide consists of information papers to assist civilian clergy in providing ministry to family members of mobilized members of the National Guard and Reserves.

d. The topics covered in the guide are:

(1) “Coming Home” brochures for Soldiers and their Families

(2) Points of Contact for state National Guard Family Program Offices

(3) Healthcare benefits for Reserve Component Soldiers and their Families when on Active Duty for more than 30 days

(4) An internet “One Source” point of contact to find help for Family members of mobilized Reserve Component Soldiers

(5) Resources to help Family members of mobilized Reserve Component Soldiers learn about their benefits

(6) Information on Stress Management

(7) Information on normal experiences after deployment and post-traumatic stress disorder

(8) Access to the American Red Cross

(9) Ministry to Soldier Families in times of grief

(10) The Emotional Cycle of Deployment: A Military Family Perspective
