PURPOSE: The purpose of this program of instruction is to provide a Marine with the knowledge and skills required to serve as an infantry squad leader in an infantry rifle platoon. 7. SCOPE: A Marine receives training in Train The Trainer (T-3), troop leading, communications, combat hunter, weapons and munitions, patrolling, offensive and defensive tactics, and urban operations. Upon completion of this course, a Marine is capable of performing as a rifle squad leader in an infantry rifle platoon. 8. LENGTH (PEACETIME): 33 Training Days 9. TARGET POPULATION DESCRIPTION/PREREQUISITES: Target Population Description: This course is designed for an infantry squad leader serving in an infantry rifle platoon that is part of an Infantry Battalion. Prerequisites: 1. A Marine must be an active or reserve member of the Marine Corps. 2. A Marine must be a Corporal or Sergeant. Lance Corporals may attend when filling a Squad Leader billet as documented in the Marines page 11. A Marine attending the course must have completed the Infantry Rifleman Course at Infantry Training Battalion, School of Infantry. 3. A Marine must have one year of service or one deployment remaining in service upon entrance into the course. 4. A Marine must have a completed command screening checklist. The screening checklist must be signed (within 30 days prior to report date) by the Marine's Commanding Officer and a medical officer certifying that the student meets all requirements for enrollment. 5. A Marine must report with TAD orders, SRB, medical record, and a "to TD" report or proficiency and conduct marks from their parent command or unit. 6. A Marine must meet Marine Corps height, weight, and body fat standards. 7. A physical fitness test will be administered upon arrival and the Marine must pass or will not start the course. 8. A Marine must not have any personal, legal, or medical issues that would interfere with his ability to complete the course.
