47625952500Football Coach – Job DescriptionACCT is a registered charitable organisation supporting families with a child with Asperger’s syndrome and autistic spectrum conditions in Sheffield. ACCT organises activities for parents, children, teenagers and siblings and works to raise awareness of Asperger’s syndrome in the local area. ACCT runs Acctivate Children’s Club every Saturday morning, a Teenage Youth Club for young people every Wednesday evening and a Football Skills Club every Friday evening.Job Summary ACCT is looking to recruit –Two Football Coaches to work at our Football Club on a Friday evening (at Goals, 95 Norfolk Park Road) and for bank play work cover at our Teenage Youth Club (at St Mary’s Community Centre, Bramall Lane) on Wednesday evenings and Acctivate Children’s Club (at St Mary’s Community Centre, Bramall Lane) on Saturday mornings. This is a great opportunity to work in sport, providing high quality support and skills. Candidates need to be enthusiastic and have a passion for football and sport, along with a desire to work with children and young people and to develop yourself as a coach.BackgroundACCT has been successfully delivering Acctivate and Teenage Club for a number of years. Both clubs are professionally run, well established, offer a range of activities and provide children and young people with an inclusive environment where they can be themselves, make friends, and build confidence and self-esteem. Our Football Club has been running for three and a half years. The club attracts around 20 children a week aged 5-18 years. The main focus of the club is to have fun whilst developing confidence, self-esteem, social and teamwork skills. The club provides an inclusive environment for children that are unable to access a mainstream club. During the Covid19 pandemic ACCT moved all provision and activities online. Some activities have been extremely successful and we are continuing to deliver our weekly Minecraft server sessions, Dungeons and Dragons Zoom sessions and Parents’ Zoom Meetings.Successful candidates will join our friendly team and be a part of the fantastic work we do in Sheffield supporting children and young people with Asperger’s syndrome and autism.Principal DutiesAssist in the planning and delivery of football sessions that are fun, teach teamwork, social and football skills, focusing on confidence and self-esteemEngage participants to take full advantage of these sessions, provide support around the additional needs they have as a result of their Asperger’s Syndrome/autismAssist in developing and promoting an autism friendly environment with particular attention to routine, communication strategies and the physical environmentWork closely with and the Head Football Coach and other coaches as part of a teamTo work closely with parents and carers To ensure the participant’s needs are being metTo manage the children and young people’s behaviour positively, with the support of other staff and volunteersAdhere to health and safety legislation and ACCT’s policies and proceduresTo take responsibility for safeguarding the children and young people during activitiesTo take responsibility for managing volunteers during the sessionAssist with other aspects of ACCT’s activities where appropriateTo undertake training where appropriateTo ensure all children receive a high standard of care at all timesSafeguarding StatementAsperger’s Children and Carers Together is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children,?and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening as part of their application.
