Building a ziggurat project

Building a Ziggurat

Your task: You will use the information provided and any other sources available to review information about ziggurats. Then answer the following questions in a well-written paragraph:

✓ In what region of the world were ziggurats built?

✓ What materials were used to build it?

✓ What was the purpose of the ziggurat?

✓ What does the ziggurat tell us about the cultural ideas of the people who built them?

Paragraphs must contain a minimum of 5 sentences. You must have a topic sentence, supporting details in the body of the paragraph, and a concluding sentence. Spelling and grammar will count. This rubric must be attached to your paragraph. (2 pts)

After you write the paragraph, you will create a model of a ziggurat. You may use clay, cardboard, plastic, foam, papier-mâché, wood, or any other approved material. The model must be constructed using sturdy materials and must contain at least two levels. You may also submit a 3D drawing of a ziggurat if no materials are available. If time permits, we will present our projects to the class.
