i NEWSFLASH

Library: - This Thursday is World Book Day. All S1-3s will receive a World Book Day token during form that will allow you to collect a free book from your nearest bookstore or £1 off a book. You can also keep it and use it for the Library Book Fair on the 26th March, (more details to follow.). S4-S6, can collect a token from the library. As it is World Book Day, it is all about books and Reading. To encourage this the library will be a mobile/device free zone at break and lunchtime this Thursday!

World Book Day Competition: Some teachers have recommended books they read, loved and enjoyed when they were at High School. Can you correctly guess which teacher recommended which book? All the book covers, and reviews are available to view in the library, fill in an entry form and you could win a £5 voucher to use at the Library Book fair. Last entry Fri 20th.

Higher and N5 Music Exams- Mon 9th and Tue 10th of March: - A timetable has been put up around the dept for the performing exam times.  Please check your time this week and make sure your name and instruments are correct.  You should come down 20/25 mins before your allocated time to warm up.

My Future Friday Programme: - This continues this week as we welcome Matthew Phillips, an Antarctic explorer and photographer who has spent over 10 years working and teaching in some incredibly harsh and dangerous locations around the world. Mr Phillips has a very niche and interesting story as to how he got into this industry and will aim to highlight how he went about getting there and working within these locations. He will be providing us with a short presentation followed by time for Q&A for any S3-S6 pupils who may be interested in any outdoor industry. Sign-up via the sheet in the grubby. Should you require any further information, see Mr Terris in the P.E. department. The session will take place in Room 44 on Friday morning.

S6 Photographs: The last date to hand in orders to the office will be Friday 6th March.

Sports Group Photographs: Orders forms can now be picked up from the Office. The last date to hand completed orders into the office has been extended until Friday 6th March.

WEEKLY CLUBS

Scripture Union (SU) Group: - This group meets every Thursday lunchtime in room 39. Bring your lunch and come along for a relaxed time of games and chat/questions about faith, Christianity and living a life of faith.

Minecraft Club: - This club will run on Thursday lunch time in computing room 3. Come along, bring your lunch and play some amazing Minecraft. There will be challenges every week.

Table Tennis Club: - There is a new S1-S2 Table Tennis club at lunch time in the upper gym on Thursday’s. Make sure you have paid your yearly sports membership via parent pay to attend. There will be no food allowed in the upper gym. See you there!

School Captains: - Some of the S6 Captains and Nation Captains will be in Room 41 every Friday at break so feel free to come along if you have any questions or want to raise any issues.

Eco Club: -Every Thursday in Room 29. This is a fun way to get involved in a variety of projects such as beach cleans, reducing our carbon foot print and looking after the biodiversity of the school grounds. There are leadership opportunities for Senior pupils. Bring lunch and your Eco ideas!

Knitting and Crochet Club: - This club is cancelled this week and next and will resume Thursday 12th March.

S6 Ball: - The final payment of £45 is due by the 23rd March for S6 pupils who have already paid the £10 deposit for the leavers ball. This can be done through parent pay or by cheque/cash in an envelope (with your name, form class and amount on it) to the office. If anyone needs financial assistance, please speak to a member of the guidance team.

Teenage Booster & Meningitis: Catch ups will take place on the 18th March for anyone who was missed or off sick on 19th February.

HPV Immunisations: On Wednesday, 20th May 2020 the HPV Immunisation Programme will be as follows:

• S1 Girls & Boys – 1st dose.

• S2 Girls – 2nd dose

• S3, S4, S5 & S6 – Girls only - Catch-up appointments

Lost Property reminder: All lost property gets taken to the boxes outside the Janitors office. On a Friday it is displayed in The Grubby until the Sunday where it is bagged and recycled. Anything expensive like glasses, watches etc are given to the main office for safe keeping. Anything named WILL be reunited with its owner (last week we got 15 items back to their owners) so it is in your best interests to name your items.

Art Auction: We are looking for donations of any old or new picture frames for our Art Auction in Term 3. No larger than A4 size. If you have any lying around, and you are happy to donate please hand in to the Art department. Thank you.

English & History Departments: The English and History corridor is out of bounds at break and lunch every day, unless you have a pre-arranged appointment with a teacher or a club to attend.
