Installing the MinecraftEdu .jar file on C2K desktop devices You must have C2k manager permissions in order to do this or get your C2k Manager to complete these steps Print out this document to have at hand through the installation

Permissions to install Jar files for Minecraft Information from C2K

Following requests from schools, the ability for .Jar files to be used to launch programmes has now been restricted. This is for schools that use MinecraftEDU (supplied to schools by CultureTech and uses a .Jar launcher) on C2k devices. These steps must be completed on every C2K device you want to run MinecraftEdu on.

Step 1: Locate the .jar file

MinecraftEdu was supplied to schools by CultureTech and uses a .Jar launcher.

Step 2: Install MinecraftEdu Server and client applications

1. Double-click the .jar file to open it. 2. Select Language and choose Continue.

3. Accept the licence agreement and choose Continue.

4. Select the components you want to install. MinecraftEdu Launcher is already checked by default.

For teacher (server) installation make sure you For pupil (client) installation make sure pupils check both Server Launcher and Shortcut icon. check only the Shortcut icon.

Step 3: Install location

5. Choose Select location to select the install location. The C2K Manager should install the MinecraftEdu launcher in the C:\Program Files directory

That completes the installation. Follow the next steps to place a shortcut for teacher and pupil use. 3

Step 4: Place a shortcut in the Public Desktop

Once the .jar file is installed place a shortcut in the Public Desktop folder: Select the Launcher.jar From the C:\Program Files\minecraftedu folder select the Launcher.jar file. Do not select the startlauncher.jar file.

Right-click Launcher.jar and choose Create Shortcut.

Select the shortcut, right-click and choose Copy. A copy of the shortcut will be placed on your clipboard.

Step 5: Navigate to the Pubic Desktop folder

Open C:\Users\Public folder and double click on the Public Desktop folder. The Public Desktop folder is a hidden folder. If it is not visible choose Organize > Folder and Search Options.

Select the View tab. Choose Show hidden files, folders and drives. Choose Ok.

Step 6: Paste the shortcut

Right-click and choose Paste, placing the shortcut in C:\Users\Public\Public Desktop. Re-start the device and log in as teacher or pupil as required. It's important to re-start the device.

Step 7: Launch Minecraft as Teacher and Pupil

The application is now ready. Log in as a Teacher or Pupil on the device. From the desktop choose the MinecraftEdu Launcher icon. The Launcher icon will look like either of these icons:
