Mr. Enoch Cobbinah, Chief Director for Education of the Republic of Ghana,Ladies and Gentlemen,Good morning! It is a great pleasure for me to attend the Handing-over and Acceptance Ceremony of the Project of School of Biomedical Science, University of Health and Allied Sciences in Ho, which is funded by the government of the People’s Republic of China and constructed by China Yanjian Group Co., Ltd. First of all, let me on behalf of the Chinese Embassy express our deep appreciation to those who have made remarkable contributions to the meticulous preparation and implementation of this project. The project is located in the capital city of the Volta Region with total construction area of 10,386m2. It includes 3 areas: the faculty area, the teaching building with a construction area of 2451m2; the students’ hostel area, and the staff bungalow area. There are all together 11buildings for the project and the parking lots, basketball courts, outside roads and other ancillary facilities. The constructor, China Yanjian Group Co., Ltd which constructed the Building of Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Regional Integration of Ghana has fulfilled their duty with high sense of responsibility and set up another landmark which reflects the friendly sentiments between peoples of our two countries. Both China and Ghana attach great importance to education. We all hold that the quality of talents determine nation’s development and progress. Education has always been one of the priority areas for our bilateral cooperation. This year, China has provided 90 scholarships and more than 700 training opportunities to Ghanaian talents. Ten days ago, we saw off 22 Ghanaian professionals who would attend the Training Course on Maternal Healthcare Service, a 90-day training program held in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. I think the new constructions and equipments aided by the government of China of this university will help more Ghanaians achieve higher medical education. We also have received the request about the furniture. Please rest assured that the Chinese side will continue to provide help within our capacity.Ladies and Gentlemen, China will always remain Ghana’s trustworthy friend and sincere partner.
