Armor Up!

We put on the armor of God to fight spiritual darkness! (Ephesians 6:10-18)

A Message from Mrs. Schultz

Three exciting things top our news for this week. The girls' volleyball team won their first game against Guardian Tuesday. Look for pictures elsewhere in the newsletter. We observed "See You at the Pole" Wednesday for chapel, followed by doughnuts. There are pictures of that also in the newsletter. And the seventh and eighth graders showed their models of a cell; pictures also in this newsletter.

Even in this time of COVID and all the restrictions that are required, Concordia is bustling with learning and playing. We praise God for His goodness and guidance.

A reminder about dress code: students are allowed to wear the proper kind of shorts until October 31. After that it's long pants only until spring. Also, the dress code prescribes that sweatshirts with hoods may only be worn if they are spirit wear. That was included when we sold spirit wear throughout the school year. Now that spirit wear is only available three times a year, we are going to allow sweatshirts that are solid in color as well. If they have hoods, the hoods cannot be worn inside the building.

Thank you to those who are already bringing plastic bottle caps. That's good for recycling as well as helping us to get two benches.

Enjoy the weekend. Remember that we are "Sent to Serve" where we may go.

"SEE YOU AT THE POLE"

It's wonderful to hear our children singing and praying to the Lord!

The Psalmist marveled in chapter 139 about how fearfully and wonderfully made we are. The seventh and eighth graders studied the complexities of cell organelles that make up the trillions of cells in their bodies. They learned kinesthetic memory tricks to remember the functions the parts perform. Finally, they created their own plant or animal cell model using materials found around their homes.

They did an excellent job!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ VOLLEYBALL
The first match is in the books with a win for our CLS girls! WAY TO GO!!!
From Mr. Hoeft, Athletic Director
With the limited number of spectators allowed (only 2 family members per player) the gym sure was loud with cheers and claps for all. What a great school support system we have!
Our next volleyball match is Tuesday, Sep 29 at home vs. CTK, Southgate.
BOTTLE CAPS FOR BENCHES
Concordia Lutheran School students have begun collecting plastic bottle caps
to be recycled into a bench for the playground.
We will collect 250 pounds of bottle caps and take them to the factory in Indiana to exchange for an 8-foot bench for the North campus. If everyone gets involved and we collect 500 pounds of bottle caps, we will get two benches, one for each campus.
This project was begun when some sixth graders suggested this recycling project for a contest in 2010. It is now used nationwide for schools, preschools, and a few other non-profit children's groups to encourage recycling while providing furniture.
It is specifically a student project. Students will sort, weigh, and package the bottle caps and lids. When we have enough we will take them to Green Tree Plastics in Evansville, Indiana. Then we will bring home the bench(es).
Here is a list of all the acceptable and not acceptable bottle caps and lids. Please help us reach our goal. We'll keep you informed as we move forward.
