December Workshop MeetingThere is no regular meeting for December that features a program. We will be having a special meeting for members who are going to be entering photos in the 2020 Interclub Photo Competition. The meeting will be the usual third Monday of the month, December 16, at 6:30 in the Chisago Government Center. As in previous years, members entering photos in the competition will have a chance to get feedback on photos they are thinking of entering. Clubs that have photo competitons throughout the year get feedback from judges that gives their members quite the advantage. This meeting lessens that advantage, at least a little bit. There is now a Dropbox folder titled “Interclub.” You may submit up to twelve photos that you would like feedback on. Size your photos to 1280 pixels on the long size which is the Interclub rule. Titles should start with your name. Deadline is midnight Sunday, December 15.Interclub Photo Competetion The Interclub Photo Competition is run by the Twin City Area Council of Camera Clubs. Results are announced at the TCACCC Spring Break. This year Spring Break is Saturday, March 21 at Spring Lake Park High School. Deadline for entering photos is Saturday,February 1, 2020, 5:00 p.m. Rules for the competition can be found on the TCACCC website at this link: the December meeting we’ll also cover the rules and attempt to answer questions. Especially if you have never entered before, it is helpful to look at the galleries from past competitions: gives members a chance to see how they stack up against other photographers. Judges simply give a score to a photo. A photo can earn an Acceptance, an Award, a Runner-Up, or Image of the Year in its category. I’ve always maintained that the main benefit of entering Interclub is that it makes you look more critically at your own photos and this leads to growth as a photographer. We will also enter the club competetion. 20 photos from 20 of our members will be chosen as our club entry. Photos from our monthly solons, our 5 Favorite Photos of 2020, and from our December workshop will be considered.Hardwood Creek PhotosMembers are asked to pick their photos up from the library Sunday, December 1. The library is open 1-5 p.m. With this weather it’s understandable if you cannot make it. In that case, please pick up your photo as soon as possible the coming week. 2020 Schedule of ProgramsJan—“Sax Zim Bog”—Gregg Severson, birding guideFeb—“Photography Spouses”—Nancy & DickCrombie, club membersMarch—“Landscape Photography”—Don Tredinnick, professional photographerApril—“African Safari”—Jim Blake, club memberMay—“Mirrorless Cameras/Camera Care”—Gus Gulbranson, Northwest Camera RepairJune—“Photographing Flowers”—Peggy Boike, club member July—Club Pot-Luck PicnicAugust—“Photo Critques”—John Pennoyer, veteran photo judgeSeptember—“See Photo Opportunities”—Paul Clark, club memberOctober—TBD but likely “Intro to Lightroom”November—“5 Favorite Photos of 2020” ................
