“Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it” -Charles Swindoll

Although names and faces change from year to year the tradition of the Troy Cross-Country program is based on a simple set of ideas developed over many years.

Cross-country is a sport that allows every athlete the opportunity to compete in an athletic event, regardless of his/her natural ability. Each athlete has the opportunity to participate and compete with other athletes of varying abilities. Therefore, each runner is able to gauge success on an individual basis. No one is unworthy, no one is cut, and no one sits the bench.  All members of the student body are actively encouraged to join the team. To be a member of the cross-country team an athlete must attend practice with the desire to work hard and ultimately give something back to the program.

Every athlete has unique abilities. The coaching staff asks that every athlete work hard to maximize that potential. It is the coaching staff’s desire that each athlete goes on and continues to maintain a level of fitness as part of his/her lifestyle. To see Troy High School alumni competing at the college level, at a road race or triathlon, or out on a training run is the ultimate form of success.  The coaching staff feels that the Troy Trojan Cross-Country program is a family. Many alumni and current athletes maintain close contact with one another. This atmosphere produces a rewarding and meaningful aspect to all athletes, coaches, parents, friends and relatives involved.
