The Senior Pastor is responsible for the spiritual instruction and leadership of the congregation, staff and ministries of the church.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree from a Bible college or seminary

• Continuing commitment to pastoral and biblical learning and study

• 3-5+ years service in Christian Ministry and/or preaching experience preferred

• Experience supervising staff and/or volunteers preferred

Responsibilities:

Provide Spiritual Leadership

• Effectively preach and teach Biblical truths which strengthen core beliefs, faith and an understanding of God’s wisdom for life.

• Extend the Gospel outreach to the greater community

• Work with the staff to consistently provide weekend services that inspire, challenge, and encourage the congregation to honor God

• Promote stewardship, generosity, and caring for the needs of others

• Understand and apply the principles of evangelism to the overall vision and mission of the church

Provide Pastoral Leadership

• Participation as an Elder on the Board

• Provide for the oversight and shepherding of the congregation, life groups, and community

• Coach, train and develop the staff and volunteers in their professional and spiritual life

Provide Outreach Leadership

• Bring people into a growing relationship with God through Jesus

• Lead the congregation in reaching out to our neighborhood, the greater community, and the world

• Support existing programs and develop new strategies to reach those in need

• Participate in personal visits with non-church members

Administrative Leadership

• Supervise and evaluate the pastoral staff

• Participate in the screening and hiring of staff

• Build a sense of teamwork among church staff

• Coordinate the ministries of the church and facilitate communication

• Foster and support a climate that encourages volunteer involvement and delegation

• Help to develop, revise, and implement policies and procedures that make for an efficient operation of ministry

• Use effective oral and written communication

Senior Minister Qualifications

• Meet the qualifications outlined in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1

• Familiarity with the Restoration Movement and its history

Professional Qualities:

• Deliver a Bible based message

• Effectively communicate the church’s vision

• Desire to reach the unsaved

• Understand the importance of a balanced life between ministry responsibilities and family

• Has the desire and drive to help grow the DCC community

• Has a compassionate heart to minister to all the people in our church community

Personal Qualifications:

• Spiritual Maturity – wisdom and understanding achieved through a varied life experience

• Man of prayer – understands where our strength comes from and seeks God’s wisdom and favor through prayer

• Has a shepherd’s heart for people and a desire to care for their spiritual needs

• The church is his full time calling and passion

• Teaches and educates to develop spiritual growth and maturity in the congregation
