561975-8636000JOHN & MELANIE KERSTETTERMinistry OverviewEquipping missionary families for cross-cultural ministryWe serve at the Missionary Training Center (MTC) for Ethnos360 on the Lake of the Ozarks in central Missouri. The MTC prepares families to be part of a church planting team. The church planting course runs four, 18-week semesters, starting in August each year. Topics include Christian life principles, culture and language acquisition, and church planting methods. Additional language analysis training is available for those who qualify.At the MTC, we are part of the Education Resource Center whose purpose is to provide information, resources, services and training related to education while ministering in cross-cultural settings for missionaries who are in training, overseas and on home assignment.This department is responsible for things like:Equipping missionary candidates on site in areas like educational options and planning, home school preparation, and family transitionsProviding educational consulting on site and world-wideTraining and providing support for educational consultants to qualified MTC studentsMaintaining current resources and data relating to educational optionsOur department has 3 off-site members and 2 of them provide learning differences therapies and intervention support for both adults and children on site and world-wide. Our on-site team consists of four people and we each come from a variety of backgrounds and life experiences and are each involved in different aspects of what our department does. Our on-site team includes:762002667000We, John & Melanie, along with our 4 children, served the Lord in Brazil for twenty years, thirteen of which were at the MK school, teaching and serving in administration. Here now at the MTC, John is our department coordinator and teaches some classes for the missionary candidates. He also assists missionaries with educational questions and represents family and educational matters to the MTC. Melanie handles the finances for our department, helps John with grading homework, organizes meals and snacks for special workshops and conferences, and assists Heather with the MK orientation.44945301333500Terri Harmon, along with her husband and 4 children, served the Lord in West Africa for seven years, teaching and serving as homeschool consultant. Now Terri trains our education consultants, maintains current data relating to educational options on each NTM field, and is the main homeschool resource person for our department. She also teaches some classes and home school workshops to the students at MTC.762005207000Heather Garton, along with her husband and 3 children, served the Lord at the missionary training center in England for ten years, working in child care. After several years working in and coordinating the child care program here at our training center, Heather joined our team, bringing a good understanding of preschool children and child safety issues. She teaches some classes and the MK orientation, and assists Terri with the education consultant training and workshops. ................
